I've only been here twice but came away with the same feeling each time. Consistent, family-friendly, accessible menu, ranging price points to meet many diners, festive, cozy, warm, comfortable! Perry's comes off as a solid destination in Novato! The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays and set the tone for a festive staff party. I *will* return so I can take in the ambiance a little better since both times I headed straight to the back room where my co-workers were. The LONG tables are not as conducive for us social ones but it is what it is! (lol) My group of 23 had the best service by just one server (Josh??) who never once seemed harried. (There were a couple food runners too!) NOTE: One check, one credit card. Be prepared with cash or venmo-ing someone after. :) I think we ordered pretty much everything on the menu and though I cannot speak for the group, the general consensus was everyone really enjoyed their dinners. The ONLY note that stuck in my head was the pot roast orderers wished there was more gravy. Personally, I had the Grilled Chicken BLTA without mayo and when it arrived, I was worried it was going to be dry because of how "big" the bun. I was wrong! The soft bun + juicy chicken + fresh veggies = a perfectly balanced sandwich. (Don't get me wrong, a good sauce can make it even better...I just don't like mayo.) It came with house-made chips and they were tasty, but maybe not something I'd choose next time. I would say that overall, it isn't a bad place to come if you are needing to get out for dinner. Happy hour is probably the best value. Service is pretty decent with a few hits and misses occasionally, but overall not bad. The menu is basically glorified thank God it's Friday menu with everything from pot roast to pasta. Retried Perry's after last review. Unfortunately not great results. I ordered filet mignon cooked medium. It came out cooked well done on the verge of being vaporized. Bone dry like beef jerky. Went for happy hour on a hot day as we know they have nice cold beers. Seems like every time we go, the bartenders there just don't cut it. Either not personable which doesn't make for a good atmosphere or super loud which also doesn't make for a comfortable experience. When we have to get their attention, when they see us come sit, to ask for a beer and they don't even greet us, just stand there, then they shouldn't be a bartender. We were in the area and wanted to stop and get something to eat on our way home to the South Bay. We stopped at Perry's because it's all American and we all have diverse pallets. We walked in and were seated right away. It was very well lit in the back area and very clean. My son ordered the Perry's Burger with cheese and bacon. It was a good size burger patty and he thought it was excellent. My friend and I shared the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and vegetables which was steamed purple cauliflower. I come to an event several times a year and stay at the hotel next door. I have yet to be disappointed by Perry's food. Food portions are generous, servers are friendly and efficient, though once in a while if they are busy we have to flag them down for drink refills. When the restaurant is busy, it can be noisy as the dining areas are open. The outside back patio backs up to the hillside and is a nice place to sit during good weather. Highly recommend the Fish & Chips, anything from the bar and the cheesecake! read more

Burger ordered with door dash was awful. I had this burger when they first opened and it was same bad burger. I ordered both times medium rare and it was the Same. Also again they throw the burger in a small box with the pickle and chips. The pickle made the chips and roll taste like the pickle. Be serious two times and at least consistent but not again. Service and ambiance are a solid 4, staff is kind and friendly and the restaurant is cosy welcoming especially on a cool night with a fire in the fireplace. Perry's is my go to for soups, salads and apps, especially the grilled artichoke. We dined with family who enjoyed the salmon and split a salad, both delicious. Rainy day Saturday and we were out with our grandchildren and daughter-in-law watching a bicycle race, so needed the dry comfort, warmth and service of Perry's. We got it. Perry's is a Bay Area institution with a great reputation for good food and service. The tradition continues. The grandchildren enjoyed Roy Rogers drinks ($5 each) and we went the hot beverage route ($4 each). The grilled artichokes ($14) were super good with a flavorful aiole for dipping. Chicken tenders ($10) were done right without thick breading. Wife and I did chopped salads ($16 each) and a Perry's Bedchamber with avocado ($18 + 2) found its was to our table and it was super. Service was outstanding! I wish I could remember the name of the woman that served us this afternoon, she was amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and she knows this business well. I've heard of Perry's for years, but I've never stopped here. The food was very good, I had the burger, coleslaw, and a Coke. My 4-year old grandson had the mac & cheese and was very happy with it. The portions were more than enough, in fact I couldn't eat the whole burger so she put it in to-go containers. (separate containers for the hamburger and the coleslaw, she didn't have to do that) The place was not crowded at all for a Sunday, perhaps because it was 4 o'clock, I would imagine that would get busy for dinner. GOOD OL' PERRY'S IS ROCK SOLID Food: They do a really good job overall. Some of my fav's are the Burger with their nice fat burger patty, toasted brioche bun, side of fries/salad/chips. Also love their Sole Menuiere which is a tasty lemon caper sole filet, veggies and mashed potatoes. Everything is tasty and the portions are generous. Prices are decent. Service: Everyone from the hostess, waitstaff, bus-people are all so nice. I've also had the manager stop by my table to check, which is an unexpected surprise. Ambiance: Two large dining rooms, both of which are nice, altho can get noisy. They also have a closed-in porch in the front which feels second rate and a outdoor patio on the side which I don't care for. I got a DoorDash order from this place, which is next-door to the hotel that I am staying in. There was a few good things about it and a few bad things some of which I have to chalk up to the DoorDash I ordered a patty melt and french fries which were recommended by DoorDash to go with the patty melt. Unfortunately, they didn't mention that the patty melt comes with potato chips that appeared to be homemade. The meat was underseasoned, and there was no ketchup package or salt or pepper included with my order. The french fries were not salty enough, although that was a large order for the price all in all I'd say that the food was decent. It would be much better if I had been present at the restaurant and could've gotten the condiments. read more

Just off the 101 fwy. Plenty of parking. Restaurant is wheelchair accessible from the parking lot. Came for a late lunch. We were greeted by a very friendly host. Everyone was bubbly and friendly actually. Our waitress Kristen was awesome! She was on her game. Restaurant is clean and has a nice interior setup. Chill vibe and a bar opposite the dining spaces. You kind of get a country cabin feeling g inside. Tables are covered in a blue picnic themed tablecloth. Bathrooms were also clean and well stocked. Ordered a patty melt on marble sourdough. Came with grilled onions, pickle and salad on the side. My husband ordered the BBQ Baby back ribs that came with sides. His were mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Serving sizes were big. Really disappointing experience. We enjoy the Perry's in Larkspur, but I have no intention to return here. Nearly every item we ordered was subpar. The calamari was smelly and chewy and completely unseasoned. The fried chicken was under seasoned, but the worst part was that it was extremely dry and overcooked. The chicken was difficult to chew, and it took forever to come out. Our family was so hungry and waited so long that we could not afford to send everything back. Despite sitting by the kitchen, the server constantly walked by without checking on us. We had to flag him down to tell him about the calamari, and he didn't even check on the chicken. With that said, the mashed potatoes and garlic zucchini were good... but not good enough to support the price tag given that the chicken was so bad. Parking is fine. Happy hour seems fun at the bar. Wow, we went to Perry's in Novato for the first time last week. It is close to where my brother lives, so when we were visiting we took the short drive up. We were not disappointed! The atmosphere was very pleasant and warm on a cold day. We were seated near the fireplace and our server greeted us promptly. She was very polite and friendly, offering drinks or coffee. I decided on a latte which was very good. Our food came out and my brother was extremely happy with his Reuben sandwich and delicious fries. My husband had an impossible smash burger and I had the blue cheese wedge salad. My only regret was that my salad needed more lettuce as the dressing was overpowering, but I ate it all! The service was quick, and our server was very caring and attentive. They also have a full bar, and the drinks were great. I have been here a few other times, and it has become my favorite place to go if I'm ever craving a burger. The 'Impossible' smashburger is to die for, topped with thousand island, pickles, and lettuce! The fries are a little bland, but always very crispy. Ordered the French onion soup. It was a pale pasty thick mess , should have been a rich dark onion broth. Had zero onion flavor! 2 salad croutons instead of garlic toast on top, rubbery cheese. YUK. I was surprised how good the food and service were, having eaten there before I thought everything would be mediocre but my steak was cooked just as I liked it and the service was good. The only thing that I would like to comment on negatively is where I was seated, not that the area was bad, however we sat in the 2nd section to the left in a both, I sat facing the bar on the outside of the booth. The seat itself has a huge pothole in the seat so when you sit down it's like sitting in a hole. I'm a big guy but it still made me much lower than everyone else and very uncomfortable. It was my first time ever to a Perry's. I know in the Bay Area it is a mini local chain of restaurants. I dined at the one in Novato, CA, having dinner. Absolutely luved the experience. The service was on point, the food was classic down home, the ambiance was chill and family friendly, and the pricing was not outrageous. The building interior is clean and modern. It had touches that reminds me of an European cafe with its cloth checkered tablecloth, flower vases on each table, and wood paneled bar counter and dining room accents. Our server was welcoming and was handling a bunch of tables. But was still able to provide great service. The menu options are classic Americana food including salads. It was so hard to choose. The table next to me ordered all ordered various salads, they were gorgeous and fresh looking in an ample serving size that looked very shareable. With that said, I landed on the fried chicken plate. It was 4 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes n gravy, and asparagus. Boy, it was delicious. The chicken was cooked well. Moist interior with a crispy, crunchy outside. I also ordered a bowl of chili. It was yummy. Hearty bowl of house made chili. This Perry's does have a 3% surcharge. On the menu they call it a health and wellness surcharge and it is not part of the tip. I ordered the French onion soup, which is prepared old world style in the clay pot with slightly crispy cheese drizzling down the side - it was perfect. My only complaint is with the martinis. I love them, and usually will order one before dinner when we go out. I'm sorry, but a perfect martini is served in a martini glass, not a champagne glass, or whatever that was. There were big chips of ice floating around the tiny glass, and it tasted watered down. Staff insisted it was not, but I love a good martini, and have had many of them. This was diluted, and that is never good in my opinion. I'll be back, but might pass on the martini this time. read more

The Rueben is served with chunks of meat, not sliced, making the sandwich very hard to eat. The hash served at brunch has the same tough chunks of corned beef served in a tomato-based stew of sorts. Novato isn't exactly the restaurant haven of the universe, so it's great when something new arrives in town. Four of us headed over for brunch yesterday and we were not disappointed. I had the fried chicken (yeah, not really brunch but hard to resist) and it was cooked perfectly, NOT greasy, with a light batter that was tasty but didn't overpower the chicken. The southwest scramble was like huevos rancheros but with scrambles instead of fried eggs and was great, as was the southwestern salad. Dad thought his bagel & lox was too big to get in his mouth so he ate it one half at a time. I'd call that a first world problem. We arrived around noon and yet the service was AMAZINGLY fast, our food came within minutes and the wait staff was just attentive enough ( I think they were more focused on the Niners game but hey it worked out great for us ). Not great - very basic. For me the best part of the meal was my breadstick. They sat us outside right behind a swinging door next to the bussing station. They need to clean up the unsightly bussing station outside which is over flowing with old dishes. Not great when you are seated next to it.
