One of the most consistently good breakfast places in the mid-cities! We love this place, but be prepared for a wait on the weekends if you get there after 830 (it is worth it). We most always sit in Krista's section, at first it was by accident but now we ask for her. She remembers us, our daughter and our favorite things! Our drinks never go empty and our food is always just how we ordered it. Bacon's has a monthly thing called "10 servings;" it is the way they rotate specials on and off of the menu. They quiche on the 10 servings is usually pretty amazing. I like quiche and I think they have the best I've had in a long time. It comes with toast and fruit, too. The serving size is generous and I'm usually not able to eat it all. You can order a single Bessie's Biscuit (Bacon, cheese, egg on a biscuit), too. It's huge and so good. Hubs is pretty picky about his eggs; he likes them soft scrambled with cheese mixed in. They always get it right. read more

Very Cute place, small enough menu where I wasn't overwhelmed! Food came out within 10/ 15 minutes. Our server was Jessica was very nice and stopped by our table to make a couple of jokes and made us laugh. I ordered the rooftop without mushrooms and over medium eggs, & bacon...it comes with a biscuit and I ordered a side of sausage gravy to try out! A terrific place for breakfast. There's nothing fancy about the menu, but the execution is what places Bacons above the rest. We had the Breakfast Sandwich" with a side of hash browns, and The Rooftop, which is basically a large breakfast bowl of deliciousness. A lot of hype surrounding this place. It may have been a bad day, but we waited for approximately 1 hour with 2 other companies arriving after us being seated before us. When we confronted the hostess, we were simply told that they were busy and asked us if we wanted a counter seat. After waiting an hour, who would want a bar seat with no back? Once we were seated, our waitress immediately asked for our order acting impatient as we wrestled to figure our order (as this was our first time coming). We ordered the chicken fried steak and rooftop as these seem to be popular according to Yelp photos. The rooftop was bland and subpar at best, requiring mounds of Cholula sauce to even give it some decent spice. The chicken fried steak was just normal, not great but good. The atmosphere is probably one of the best around and didn't feel crowded like Sunny Street or Stevie's Diner. However, would I return? Probably not. I'd rather have some really good food from either Sunny Street or Stevie's Diner than sacrifice great food for a better atmosphere. read more

Had a fantastic brunch at this cute restaurant. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. Thank you Avery for your very attentive service. But, the pièce de résistnace was when we began eating our pancakes, which were a lukewarm as they had been sitting to the side while we ate our main course, the owner, Eva, came to our table and asked us if we wanted fresh pancakes. Despite the fact that it was our fault we waited so long to eat them. When I said no and that we would eat them anyway, she insisted on making us some new piping hot, fresh off the griddle, chocolate chip and pecan pancakes! What great service! I just moved to the suburbs and I had to try this well known breakfast hang. I had a omelette with hash browns and one piece of toast. In 4 words my take: clean, sweet , small and busy. The food was nice and cleanly prepared i.e. No grease. The decor was 1959 sweet and the amount of food was..... well my 97 pound grandma would want more. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table which I'm not complaining but my question was.....why? Why do people flock to this place. This is average diner fare. But then I look around and see a lot of grandparents eating happily so what's wrong with that...... nothing. read more

We came here with our friends and their two year old, and it was a really nice experience! It was busy (Saturday 10:00am), so we had to wait 25 minutes, but the hostess who helped us was always friendly, and even came out to update us on the status of our wait time. We rarely hand out a five star rating, but this is our go to after church breakfast. We have never been disappointed by either the food or service. Usually a 30 minute wait after 10:30 am but that is typical. We have never had their lunch during the week, but the menu looks good for that as well. Prices are fair. read more

Service was decent and my boyfriend enjoyed his eggs Benedict. My omelet was very disappointing. The vegetables were still raw inside and my "well done" hash browns were not even golden in color. Bacons is my favorite breakfast spot for sure. The employees there always make you feel very welcome, and you can tell they love the place themselves. It feels very much like a family business where they make good, old fashioned breakfast and lunch food. The food itself is delicious and simple.
