Walking in on a Saturday night, the vibe was a little rough. Karaoke night and a woman had the mic. She was painfully ear shattering. We thought we might leave immediately but decided to give it another song for a try. The song came and went and we figured we'd take things into our own hands. There were 15 people on the list to sing, but if you tip the karaoke handler, you get moved up in the order. Our friend gave him $20 and suddenly we were up next! We got some T Swift going with a little Our Song and all of a sudden the bar was vibing. Karaoke with good friends and the right song is chef's kiss- perfection. I loved that people were getting into each other's songs and having a fun time. The thing about karaoke though is that the vibes can change real fast! Great song and everyone is in. Painfully song and it is real painful. A lot of the karaoke mics weren't working which also added to making it a little awkward, but people made do. Haven't been to karaoke in a bar in a long time, but it seems like a might be a thing on a Ballard weekend given we walked past a few bars doing it. Sadly I think the service has gotten worse past couple years This past Saturday , I was met with frustrated bartender doing paperwork and I get it but the vibe from get go was I was bothering him He got better but not much ! I left after one beer not ordering the good food and went to diff place up treat and got treated fantastic with great food I've loved Sean and Corey's Bad Albert's for years really good food and I love the variety of beer choices I used to take my 85 year old mom for breakfast there and getting one of the brothers esp Corey is fantastic , most of the time other service good but feels less and less consistent and this opinion has agreement among folks I talk too Bad Albert's is the great bridge between old and new Ballard and it's one of my fav places , I bought gift certs for two friends last year who had never been knowing it's a place they'd like esp being old Seattle guys They still haven't gone yet to use them and I'm wary they might not get good service when they go Oh well thank you for reading and again one of my fav places but not so much lately I don't see a contact option on website either read more

First impressions - Basic, clean, comfortable bar atmosphere, lots of TVs (Sports & Music vids w/ no sound on while I was there). No outside dining/drinking option. The music was noticeable but not obnoxious. It's a pretty big somewhat open space and was pretty quiet with only a few ppl here when I went - but I came in on a Monday in the early part of Happy Hour on a cold day in December so I don't think that speaks badly of the bar at all. The bartender was nice. I ordered a basic vodka/soda/cran and it was perfectly fine. I didn't order food or visit the bathrooms so I can't give any info on those - but I'd come here again. read more

So I was a-little timid about trying the bar food, because, well bar food! But the cooks there are phenomenal! Thank you Juan! Everything tastes, super fresh and flavorful, and I always leave with a happy belly with no tummy ache! (Also, they come up with new specials all the time and everything has been amazing!) All of the bartenders are very friendly, and have a great sense of humor, including the owner! He definitely goes above and beyond, and is always in a positive mood!(: The ambience is set up a certain way, where it's cozy, almost reminds me of how a saloon would be back in the good old days, but then also has a lot of modern look to it, and of course, plenty of TVs to watch any and all sports! They have live bands, pretty regularly, they do karaoke, also regularly. They also have music playing from the stereo most of the time; But if you ever get sick of a station, you can always politely request some different tunes, and they will be happy to oblige! This is a place we go to anytime life takes us into Ballard. We have had mostly sandwiches, but they are just so consistent in food quality and friendly service. Their fry's are hand cut, fresh cooked and delicious! I had the Ruben sandwich, I prefer a dark or marbled rye bread, but the light rye still tasted good. A great go to breakfast spot. Dive bar vibes so don't need to get fancy to eat bfast. The bacon scramble is delicious, with mushrooms, onion and peppers and topped with some hollandaise it is super flavorful. The red potatoes are mixed in. Grilled not fried and all kinds of great sauces. Corey, the owner, even provided me with a local hot sauce I had never tried on the side. Great local beers on tap and TV's everywhere you look. Literally they wrap around the entire restaurant so everywhere you look is sports. Corey went out of his way to give me great service as well as thank me for coming in as I was walking out the door. This is a really fun dive bar with karaoke, but lately I discovered it's also a great spot for takeout. We got a club sandwich, wings and a crispy chicken sandwich, all really solid and good. The wings were enormous and the bartender recommended the 50/50 sauce, which was great. It's half bbq and half something else (I forget.) All really well made and tasty. We went to Bad Alberts today. We live in Belltown and patronized this place today and Corey the owner. Corey is from Ballard living there his entire life. He has owned this Resturant for ten years. During COVID-19 he has retained his employees the entire time. Corey had the most positive and sincere personality of any person we've met during this pandemic. My husband and I both work in healthcare and we're happy he was following all the WA State guidelines. Corey was doing it all today. Greeting the customer, making the drinks or pouring the beers, taking your order, bringing your silverware, bringing your condiments, serving your food, disinfecting the tables and picking up your plates afterward. He had his cook in the back making awesome food; very delicious food. And go figure they make their own home made fries... no short cuts here. We gave Corey a $15.00 tip... we never do that but we are both good tippers for sure. You need to stop by and meet Corey and help patronize this place you won't regret it. We barely go out anymore, but the past few times we have been in, we've been pleasantly surprised that even with new owners, the menu is pretty much the same as what it was. I mean, like, the RECIPES are the same. Because you know there's a difference between saying, "Oh yeah, we still have the cajun chicken sandwich," and saying, "Oh yeah, we still have the cajun chicken sandwich, but it's with a completely difference sauce and sides." Luckily they've stuck with the recipes that have worked under previous ownership, but have made also made huge upgrades to the seating and TVs. It's a little to sports bar-ish for me (they had some sort of soccer game on almost every screen on when we were in last), but the food is good, good beer and liquor selection. And for those who care, they also remodeled the bathrooms (at least for the ladiezzz), so it feels a bit more 2012 inside. read more

So glad to see that Cory and Sean have reopened Bad Alberts. I'm not really into sports bars but it's become one of my automatic defaults for breakfast or lunch during the week. They do a great job with good basic bar food and the staff has always been very friendly and customer service oriented. If there's a downside it's the same thing that plagues all of ballard and that is parking. Parking in ballard is terrible. But I highly recommend it in spite of the parking problems. Tried the beef stew at lunch today, had a nice creamy texture more like a chowder. Yummy. read more
