We had some friends visiting from out of state and needed to find a good sushi spot to show them. This place was a hit! We originally went here because we saw all the great reviews and I want to confirm all of it is true! The staff were so sweet and service was immediate. It was such a highlight of the experience. They even gave us 1 extra miso soup on the house. You can tell they really care for their customers. Take my word when I say their sushi was FRESH. We ordered the Chirashi, albacore fever, and Bad Angel. The Chirashi melts in your mouth like butter. You really only have that kind of quality experience at high priced sushi restaurants. But this place's pricing is so affordable. Their house sauce was a hit among all of us. I don't think I tried one bad dish. Im definitely coming back here to try many others. Their menu has so many options to choose from. The ambiance is pretty casual and normal, nothing to complain about. Aquaman can't get better fish than they serve here! - Parking - plenty of parking on the street, neighborhood, or in the back. - Service - it's good, but gets busy so be patient, but the people that work here are on top of it. - Ambiance - not a ton of space, but makes it a cozy experience. Good to catch up with friends, a 2nd/3rd date, or just by yourself. - Food - My go to is the packs roll, cute devil, yellowtail belly, salmon belly, and eel. I almost didn't write this review so I could keep gatekeeping this spot, but that's a disservice I CANNOT do to the local community. BAD Sushi is a true gem. Great food, amazing service, and super fair prices that will keep you coming back. I have now tried the shrimp village, love love, and say fish rolls, and they are all DELICIOUS! Fresh, filling, and super flavorful. On one roll I asked for soy paper just to try it, and on a different occasion I returned and ordered the same roll, and they asked if I wanted to have it with soy paper again!! After seeing the good reviews a few friends and I decided to check it out. Upon arrival it seemed nice and service was good. The starters were underwhelming. We ordered spicy tuna crispy rice, spicy tuna on earth, and spicy edamame. Spicy edamame should be renamed garlic edamame, there was nothing spicy about it. We ordered 4 rolls, out of the 4, 2 came drenched in their BAD sauce. Sauce is not my favorite but also soaked the rice making the rolls fall apart and unable to be eaten with chopsticks. The restaurant had gotten quite busy by this point and with only one server it was hard to get his attention(not his fault), finally when I got his attention I told him about it. He looked upset, I was hoping for some forks or an offer to remake them as he could clearly see the problem. He took one roll of our table and walked away. We were still hungry and would have ordered more if it was an option. He didn't offer nor come back to us. The place is busy, like busy busy but don't let the looks fool you. We saw that it was packed, but only had to wait 15 mins. They move tables quickly and people don't linger too too long. The staff was super friendly and the food comes out quickly. It's a popular place for a reason. We ordered several things and split it between two people. I thought it was just enough and only paid about $40 a person which I thought was super reasonable considering we got to try a few different things. The sushi tasted fresh and the crispy tuna was really good. Super crispy and topped with spicy tuna on top. The salmon might have been my favorite of the bunch but the different rolls were solid and even the albacore hit the spot. There wasn't anything we didn't like and there's so much to choose from. It's really hard to pick but I think we nailed it. We'll definitely be back to try more things. The Westside has a ton of sushi options and if you are looking for something not super authentic and more Americanized I'd suggest this spot. We came by here on a whim and weren't disappointed. The sushi was fantastic, service was great, prices were very reasonable. The only potential problem I could see is there aren't very many tables so it's possible you may not get a table without a reservation. We didn't have that problem. Came here for dinner (party of 5) and it is a fairly small shop - however they were very kind in seating us right away and put some tables together for us. The sushi itself was good, but definitely more of a "Western" vibe - heavy on sauces, fried rolls, etc. But it was good! Portions were solid and prices fairly standard. I've been here several times, the rolls are delicious but I'm never blown away, hence the 4 stars. I've previously tried the 911 Roll, Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll, Tiger Roll, and Fire Snow Roll, which were all great. Tonight I had the Salmon Lover Roll which was solid, the hint of lemon was perfectly measured. I also loved the Crispy Tuna, I only wish that the pieces were about half as large for easier eating. The staff are always very nice and attentive, the restaurant is small but cozy, they were playing mellow covers of 2010's pop songs which was fun. Also, I greatly appreciate the quality of their chopsticks! I'm realizing that I haven't tried the BAD sauce, so I will definitely be back. read more

Got takeout from here and it was pretty good! We got 4 things for a little under $60 which is pretty decent pricing and the quality of the fish was good. I wouldn't say that it was better than Sugar Fish obviously but for the price very decent sushi. The chirashi was very good but I wish it had come with more pieces of sashimi in it. The rolls were very good and the dragon roll was definitely my favorite. Everything tasted fresh and we would probably order from here again. read more

What a nice find. This is a small place but the food is big and bold flavors. We had a mix of sushi. Ca roll, cucumber roll, eel, shrimp tempura and a bunch of others. I decided on dinner here because so many people recommended it on NextDoor. Lots of people posted that there was parking "in the back" however, there was ZERO parking anywhere near the restaurant and I had to park 3 blocks away after driving around and around and around and... you get the idea. One good thing? I arrived at the tail of happy hour and there was only one other table with four people at it meaning, I was going to get served quickly! Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy :) I was anticipating reeeeally super tasty sushi and was seated quickly, delivered beer quickly and began trying to read the menu. Because I'm a relic with a terrible memory AND not such great eyesight, I forgot my glasses and couldn't see the words on the menu, all I could see were pictures. I asked the waitress for a recommendation based off what people typically ordered since I had never eaten at Bad Sushi and pointed out some of the pictures that looked good but she advised that my choices weren't spicy. Since I LOVE me some spicy anything I asked her for any spicy roll puhleez and she suggested the Crying Tuna and said the Amazon was also good. She made one other suggestion (see photo) but I forgot the name of it, some kind of sashimi dish which she said they could add jalapeños to make it spicy. Since the last time I"d eaten was lunch time, my belly was screaming and I was anticipating the delicousness of what was to come. Once the food was delivered, I was not so impressed. First of all, only one of the dishes was MILDLY spicy and the other, no spice at all. To be honest, it was the most tasteless sushi I've had in a long time. Really big bummer considering how many people recommended this place. Hmmm, maybe I ordered the wrong plates? I was bummed but hangry so I ate every morsel on every plate. What's in a name? Well maybe not a lot because BAD SUSHI is surprisingly GOOD sushi. I'm all for fun and self-effacing puns. Any restaurant that has 'bad' in its name -- acronym notwithstanding -- is begging customers not to patronize their restaurant, but rather lambaste and patronize it in another way. Or does it? I mean Terrible's Casino in Las Vegas degrades its own establishment, but ironically, Terrible's is an off-strip casino with some of the best odds in Vegas. It's punny suggestive way actually inspires me to open my own restaurant: BBC southern food. BBC means 'Best Barbecue Chicken'. IF you thought anything else, you have a very dirty, dirty mind. I digress. I ordered a 9-11roll. The roll was beautifully organized in a pleasing symmetrical fashion. Each cross-section was magnificently colorful, consistent and carried an equally distributed structure throughout the roll. Would highly recommend it.
