$35 Course Feb 2021
Allison T.

Came here in Feb 2021 for a $35 course meal. Due to inflation, current offering are $40, $50, or live fish course $60. This is a Korean style course meal. I opted for a $50 Course A: assorted live & fresh sashimi. Overall it was a great experience and service was excellent. I started off with 4 stars but after typing everything what I had, they truly deserve 5 stars. Here's what you get in small sharing sizes: Salad w cho jang Steamed egg Fish cake soup (o deng soup) 4 different types of side dish in cold salad form: sea squirt, abalone, octopus, dried octopus Shrimp & vegetable tempura California hand roll Plate of sashimi: salmon, red snapper, tuna, and Suzuki (?) Grilled fish & crab salad in a shell Amaebi Last- finish off with Korean style soup

Maki rolls platter

Was recommended to try this place by someone who lives nearby. On a Friday night it was not busy and our party of 11 were quickly seated. The. Maki platter was ok, nothing to write home about. I think platters from HMart would best this any day. The shrimp donkatsu was stellar. Shrimp was crunchy & light. It was a huge hit!

The most amazing sushi restaurant in Chicago. Far better than nobu, Roka akor, and itoko in my opinion. I've never been to a Korean inspired sushi restaurant before. Prices are so friendly and although the set course prices may seem high THERE IS SO MUCH FOOD!!! Ban Chan/ side dishes were authentic and different from your typical Korean restaurant- all seafood focused and all delicious. So many courses in the set course- banchan, salad, sashimi, handroll, and soondubu at the very end. Clearly well known amongst Korean locals and definitely a spot to try if you're looking for delicious and fresh fish! Ambiance is okay but the food makes the experience feel amazing

I hid it for as long as I could but I guess I can't hide it any longer. This place is a gem. Sushi/sashimi that's Korean style. If you come here, you must get the course menu. I really mean that it is a MUST. For America, I think they do a really good job of doing this Korean style sashimi course menu. I don't want to compare it to what I've had in Korea because it wouldn't really come close, but for America, this is great! They give salad, side dishes, rolls, sashimi, soups,...it's just endless. I will say I miss the course menu items they had when they first started with the fresh vegetables, oysters, etc., but they continue to serve a great menu regardless of the changes. If you're up for something new and you like seafood a lot, there's no reason not to check this place out.

I've been here two times. Side dish is ok. I like the sashimi combo with rice and vegetables. It's about $23. Definitely a little bit pricy but the food quality is good. Fish is fresh. Not frozen. I called to place a phone order and the lady answered my call. I came a bit early and I waited about 10mins till my food ready. The vibe is slow .. I don't see line or a lot of people dine in. Worth to try it out if you like sashimi.

We got the $40 sushi combo Had a good amount of food The sashimi was pretty good quality! Was soft and not chewy. Would definitely come back

Stopped in here due to the many positive reviews and it didn't disappoint! The place looks so much bigger inside than it seems from the exterior as it's located in a mini strip mall. Our server was quick and attentive. The food was fresh. It was our first time trying a hand roll and I was impressed! Will definitely come back here in the future.

This place was reservation only because it is usually packed for dinners even on the weekdays. I really liked how they had separated sections to eat. It's good for privacy and COVID! Additionally, our waitress was very welcoming and friendly. Our food came out very fast and we realized we had ordered too much. However, I must say it was very fresh sushi! Every bite I had was full of flavor and tasteful. I highly recommend this place for small gatherings or even a big one!

Went here before COVID and ordered the assorted sashimi course C for two. I was surprised to see the variety of dishes that were served. Everything was so fresh and delicious! The price is great for what you get. The quality to quantity loved it. I would choose this place over ayce sushi for a good seafood/sushi craving. Service, however, was really slow. I mean REALLY slow. Every dish came out so slowly, it was quite frustrating. We stayed there for over 2 hours, almost 3 hours, to get all our dishes. Aside from that, food itself was very satisfying and I would go back for the food.

We hate to trumpet this place too much but it was a super pleasant surprise and so that must be known! We had one of the multicourse dinners for two. You can't go wrong with this. They also have (limited) wines and sakes and other drinks. A very satisfying meal and far afield of your typical xeroxed Korean restaurant. It will be helpful to bring a Korean person as the menu is not really in English. And warm clothing as there wasn't much heat on the evening we went. It's a long haul out to the NW suburbs but we will be back!

Got an amazing selection of sushi and apps for takeout and it was delicious and so fresh!! Great service and consistently tasty food, will continue to order from Bada frequently and can't wait to be able to dine in again!

We love Bada! Everything is so fresh and delicious. We've been coming for date nights and have brought friends too. We really like to order the multi course meals - it's a ton of food. All the fish is fantastic and we always have some soju too! We don't live in the area anymore but we also love grabbing takeout to bring home with us. Hands down best sushi in the Chicago area.

Great sashimi course meal at a reasonable price. The course provided good quality sashimi with other seafood side dishes (of quite big portions) of great quality. The owners were very kind.

Especially to save anybody else from what we had to endure. We came in for dinner after a long, exhausting day of running errands.... myself, my sister, and my 83-year-old mother. We were seated modestly quickly, which gave us hope. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that went right. Shortly after being seated, a man who appeared to be our server approached us not to take our order, but to tell us he was "too busy" to wait on us and that someone else would come. That set the tone immediately. When another server finally did come over, things didn't improve. It took OVER 15 minutes for Server to acknowledge us, And another 10 minutes just to take our order, while we watched multiple tables who were seated after us being served promptly and efficiently. At that point, we should have left. I eventually received an appetizer, but my mother and sister received nothing. As I sat there awkwardly picking at my food, we watched surrounding tables (who arrived after us), receive full meals before us. We flagged down our server, and only then were we casually informed that my mother's meal had been given to another table. No apology beforehand. No proactive communication. No attempt to correct it until we had to ask. Let that sink in: an elderly woman sat there (over a hour now), waiting, ignored, while her meal was served to someone else and no one thought to inform us. At that point, we got up and left. The front door staff were the only bright spots. They were polite and immediately got the manager. The manager assured my sister that the situation would be "handled," that we would be contacted, and that some form of recompense would be made for the experience. She was also so apologetic... But her apologies were as devoid is truth as her personality was devoid of any humanity. So her promises that she would reach out that we would be recompensed well...That never happened. No call. No follow-up. No accountability. As for the food? I can't fairly review it because we never actually received it. The small portion of appetizer I did get was nothing memorable, and the sake was honestly subpar. What I can review is the service, (if one can call it that,) and it was abysmal. Disorganized, inattentive, and completely lacking in basic professionalism and respect. Promises were made and not kept, which makes the experience even worse. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are too many places that actually value their customers' time, dignity, and experience. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

The ambiance has always been cute and a nice little date spot that's easy to get into. The servers have always been very kind and helpful. We did not realize that they changed to a more premium style. All you can eat menu as an option. Typically with all you can eat options. You have very limited roll selections, but here they have a lot of chef specials on the menu as well as hand rolls sashimi and nigiri. The fish quality didn't change at all! It's still really good. We're typically turned off from all you could eat restaurants due to the fact that their rice to fish ratio is pretty high. That is not the case here. The sushi rolls are still billed in a very cohesive manner. The flavors hit your palate perfectly and are not buried in rice. The all you can eat option may be more expensive than competitors in the area, however, their quality is second to none in this tier. We will definitely be coming back and frequenting this option because you get great quality for a great price!!!

We paid for their AYCE menu which includes a set menu; there's a disclosure on the menu "any leftover rice will be charged for" Understandably, if customers are unreasonably wasting food. We ordered two small rounds of sushi and didn't even want to eat anymore because the quality of fish was so disappointing. The amount of rice they put in the rolls is embarrassing. I'm from Japan and it's so disappointing and honestly heartbreaking that some people will eat here and will create a first impression of sushi which may cause them to not enjoy it from then on. For 4 sashimi, 4 nigiri, 3 hand rolls, and 2 maki, it took them one hour. $80. Sushi Taku is significantly better AYCE in Chicago, Sakana with the same namesake in Las Vegas, NV is significantly better as well. Side note, the waiter and waitress were extremely nice. Soft classical jazz music in the background. On a Saturday night, only a couple other tables were taken. We were seated immediately and provided the waters we requested. The menu is extensive but the server knew exactly when we'd finished deciding and came to take our order. The miso soup and salad arrived under 5 mins after ordering. The salad had a fresh orange dressing that provided a refreshing citrus flavor and no mayo so it felt quite light and flavorful. Once we finished the soup and salad, the sushi arrived quickly. The nigiri salmon was excellent - melt in your mouth quality. The nigiri tuna was definitely the best I've had. And I loved the maki. The negi hamachi had far larger pieces of fish than I've seen anywhere else. And the sushi rice had some sesame seeds in it, giving it a slight bit of satisfying crunch. We should have stopped there but everything was so delicious and fresh that we ordered the mango crunch maki for dessert. The mayo was fresh and ripe, offering a succulent contrast to the sweet soy drizzled on top. But it was a little too sweet for my husband. The crunch came from what we think might be puffed corn. I didn't like the crunch and felt it detracted from the mango. Others would probably love it but I'll stick with the fish! Can't wait to return!
