We came in after shopping at the Fashion Outlets mall -- I had zero interest in food court food that day -- so Shakou was a convenient nearby option. Located in Park Ridge, there is ample free street parking so that's really convenient. I ordered the ramen, which isn't usually my go-to at a non-specialty ramen place, but I was in the mood and we were already here. It was fine, but not something I'd return specifically for. The sushi, as usual, is great. Husband ordered the poke bowl, and that ended up being the standout of the meal. Really generous amount of sushi-grade fish and lots of fresh, bright ingredients. My parents split a dolsot bibimbap. The serving size was large and delicious. Overall, a perfectly good dinner, but next time I'd stick to sushi or the poke bowls.

Good sushi, and a lot of options to choose from. Like their specialty sushi items Dont choose the high table option because the table and chair ratio is off and is difficult to eat on lol

We come here quite frequently and this visit was not the best, unfortunately. Food and drinks were fantastic as always, but the service was definitely not what we're used to here. Our server was not at all interested in making any kind of connection and ignored my partner declining a second cocktail and brought him another although to be fair, we didn't complain. She dropped the check and said "have a good night" while she was walking away. Disappointing as we've had amazing servers here in the past.

If you've been to any other Shakou location in the Chicago suburbs - this is a very similar experience with a more upscale and trendy vibe, varied menu, reasonable prices, and a large dining area. Perhaps the one area this restaurant seems to be a bit worse in is service, which feels a little slower than I typically expect. However this still works well as a place to take friends and family if you're not in a rush and casually enjoying drinks. Food here is always solid, with high quality ingredients and fun presentation that's generally quite colorful and artsy. If you're craving sushi, you'll find higher than average quality ingredients with their fish cuts or other seafood like scallops. But they're generally good in anything you try from the salad with a delicious miso ginger dressing and crisp vegetables to the tender bulgogi with equally tender grilled veggies. Shrimp and scallops are grilled nicely, though the portion size is a bit smaller compared to other dishes. Dessert here like the chocolate lava cake and exotic mamba aren't bad, but it's not quite as refined or satisfying as I'd expect for the price (a few dollars less than a full entree). Overall, another solid Shakou location to go with friends and family. The atmosphere is good, service can be slow and times, and food is generally delicious.

Try the early menu for some of the best deals in town! We always have a great meal here, whether sushi, shrimp or salmon it's always prepared with meticulous attention to detail. And hot food is served hot and cold food is served cold, a very important restaurant metric. Bh the way, did I mention the terrific house salad, too!

My husband and I met some friends at Shakou on a Sunday for dinner. When we arrived at 5:30 the restaurant was about one-third full. With the crowd size we were disappointed with the slow service we received. I ordered the scallops and jumbo shrimp and my husband ordered the bulgogi. The shrimp were not jumbo and I was disappointed with the size of the scallops but they did taste really good. The bulgogi was really well flavored and the vegetables cooked to be crispy. For dessert, we had the chocolate lava cake. I could tell that this had been sitting for a while since the ice cream and whipped cream had melted by the time it got to us. The flavor of the lava cake could have been much better, especially for a $13 price tag. It was not very moist. There are a lot of good things at Shakou but there are many things that could be improved upon.

I recently came in for dinner on a weeknight. I was promptly greeted by the hostess and taken to a table. My friend that I was dining with, of course, was running late. I appreciated that Server Elisha continued to check on me. Her customer service was above excellent throughout my visit. I asked her some questions about the menu, and she was very knowledgeable. The atmosphere of the restaurant was almost club like. It felt very clean and welcoming. Portion sizes were decent. Prices were upon average of sushi restaurants in Chicagoland. There was some street parking in front. However, as there are multiple restaurants located on this block, I parked around the corner. I would recommend!

This is one of the best spots in PR for dinner. The food is delicious. They have great entree options, a huge sushi menu and the service is fantastic. There is great music in the background that creates a fun vibe for a night out. There is bar seating and the bar staff make good cocktails.

    Black Widow Roll - OTG

If you don't watch yourself, it's almost too easy to pay a hundred dollars per person at Shakou - sometimes more if you have an expensive taste. Then again, you're paying for the high quality of the sushi and sashimi here. The two rolls I had were the Black Widow and the Niku Niku, both beautifully presented and aesthetically pleasing. It's unfortunate that this restaurant is so dimly lit where it will dilute and dull the wondrous array of colors of the rolls if you don't put your flash on while capturing a photo. It's sushi etiquette to eat each piece in one bite, yet in practice that nicety seems to be quite difficult with the portion sizes here...and if you have a small mouth like I do. Sure, eating it in two bites will make the highly packed rice crumble, but it also leads you to savor and appreciate the detecting subtle flavor and texture. Now, the Black Widow roll was decent, though I was expecting a bigger flavor profile. The fat, sliced scallops that lay on top of each piece adds a bouncy and firm texture, but I wish I could remark more on the taste. Yes, the scallop adds a buttery, delicate, and somewhat sweet flavor, but the entire rolls is disappointing as it didn't meet its potential to be layered with a world of wondrous flavors from the unagi sauce, tobiko, eel, or mayo. If anything, the roll was more memorable with its distinct mouthfeel and presentation. The Niku Niku roll was much more enjoyable, and my favorite from the two. Each bite is soft enough, but when compressed by the act of eating, the NY strip inside rebels with its tough and chewy attribute. The chili oil brings out a nice smoky heat that isn't necessary a burning sensation, but pleasantly spicy. The rest of the ingredients - the avocado, rice, vegetables, and soy paper - are naturally mild where the chili oil becomes the star of the show. All things considered, the classy and upscale atmosphere is appealing for a night out. Still, in terms of flavor profile, BluFish may have a competitive edge in this neighborhood.

Enjoyed a nice evening. I went to the Shakou in Naperville a few years ago that has since been shut down. We ordered spicy edamame to start and miso soups which were good. The edamame was VERY spicy and came in a large portion. We stuck to rolls for the evening and ordered the dragon fire (my favorite), ocean drive, and urban heat. The ocean drive roll was my boyfriend's favorite and paired nicely with the two spicy rolls we had and finished clean. Service was a little slower than expected, I had to flag our waitress down a couple times and asked a different waitress about my miso soup but nothing crazy to kill the vibe. Good sushi, it's a bit on the higher end if you're feeling fancy.

Shakou is a solid sushi restaurant with plenty of seating. Perfect for large parties. The service is a bit slow, but not unbearably long. I love the Dragon Fire and Black Widow sushi rolls. The bottom side of the rice of the Dragon Fire is pan fried to crunchy crisp. The Black Widow has a large piece of scallop on top. Both rolls were very unique and tasty! I would definitely order this roll again.

Great posh and swanky place, in the western edge of uptown Park Ridge. Finding street parking on a Tuesday night wasn't too bad. This place is all about modern contemporary design so be careful walking in, as the door and adjoining wall is glass and you don't want to be that guy who walks right into the wall. After you made it past the front glass doors, without smashing your face, you're greeted by the friendly hostess there. The dining area is large, with booths on the left side, tables and chairs in the middle and semi-right, and a large bar area in the right, with a couple of TVs. Not too many, like a Buffalo Wild Wings or Best Buy, but enough to catch up on what the latest sports activity is, while dining and drinking. Our server was really nice, attentive, and explained the specials to us. As of Nov 2022, they are using QR-codes for menus, or they do supply an iPad. We ordered the following: Seaweed salad -- not sure if this was off-menu or not, but I didn't see it on the menu, but the server said it was there. Ordered. It was OK... the seaweed had a sea-taste to it, that was a little overpowered. Served on a bed of lettuce Miso ramen -- we were in the mood for Ramen, so decided to give this a try. They only have one type of ramen, which was this. The ramen had a miso base pork broth with curve egg noodles, topped with fresh bean sprout, fire roasted corn, crunchy bamboo shoot, bok choy, black mushroom and pork belly... which was great! Rainbow roll -- again, my little hack to get a taste of the different sushi... from salmon, tuna, yellow tail. By default, they use spicy tuna, which for an extra $2, we opted for the regular tuna Topped it all off with a couple of yellowtail nigiri, and unagi and the overall dining experience was great!

They do imeruli style, round and similar to a pizza, the crust beautifully blistered and the cheese thick with a wonderful pull. One of my friends hadn't had khachapuri before and is now a convert. We also had boso lagman, with hand-pulled noodles and beef, and big manty dumplings with flavorful meatballs inside. I requested we get a slice of honey cake, too, and that was a perfect finish to the meal. Sweet but not overkill, and really tasted like honey, graham crackers, and cream. Especially to save anybody else from what we had to endure. We came in for dinner after a long, exhausting day of running errands.... myself, my sister, and my 83-year-old mother. We were seated modestly quickly, which gave us hope. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that went right. Shortly after being seated, a man who appeared to be our server approached us not to take our order, but to tell us he was "too busy" to wait on us and that someone else would come. That set the tone immediately. When another server finally did come over, things didn't improve. It took OVER 15 minutes for Server to acknowledge us, And another 10 minutes just to take our order, while we watched multiple tables who were seated after us being served promptly and efficiently. At that point, we should have left. I eventually received an appetizer, but my mother and sister received nothing. As I sat there awkwardly picking at my food, we watched surrounding tables (who arrived after us), receive full meals before us. We flagged down our server, and only then were we casually informed that my mother's meal had been given to another table. No apology beforehand. No proactive communication. No attempt to correct it until we had to ask. Let that sink in: an elderly woman sat there (over a hour now), waiting, ignored, while her meal was served to someone else and no one thought to inform us. At that point, we got up and left. The front door staff were the only bright spots. They were polite and immediately got the manager. The manager assured my sister that the situation would be "handled," that we would be contacted, and that some form of recompense would be made for the experience. She was also so apologetic... But her apologies were as devoid is truth as her personality was devoid of any humanity. So her promises that she would reach out that we would be recompensed well...That never happened. No call. No follow-up. No accountability. As for the food? I can't fairly review it because we never actually received it. The small portion of appetizer I did get was nothing memorable, and the sake was honestly subpar. What I can review is the service, (if one can call it that,) and it was abysmal. Disorganized, inattentive, and completely lacking in basic professionalism and respect. Promises were made and not kept, which makes the experience even worse. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are too many places that actually value their customers' time, dignity, and experience. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

I ordered lagman, beshbarmak, boorsak, and a tomato salad. All were excellent. Food was appropriately seasoned and fresh. My favorite item was the beshbarmak- if you know, you know. I am excited to travel back to Chicago and try this again. Please do yourself a favor and try something you've never had before, trust me you won't be sorry.

I love the wonderful pulled noodles of lagman. The waitress was so pleasant and her service was wonderful. This place is a little hidden gem in the local area near O'Hare. It's in a huge apartment complex and on the south side of the first building as you enter from River Road.

The garlic ramen was flavorful with rich pork broth, the chashu was perfect balanced with fat and meat portion. The katsu was my favorite with their special sauce. The service was fast, friendly, loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Highly recommended!

The dining room is really pretty, and well-appointed! We were seated right away by friendly staff. Looking around, this appeared to be a very family-friendly establishment, as that was, by far, the most prominent type of connoisseur in the house on this evening! Our waitress was wonderful, and helped us with some recommendations upon us letting her know it was our first visit! She checked in with us frequently, and made sure drinks were always refilled promptly! We had a bunch of different items, and all were very good! We tried sushi rolls, beef noodles, and ramen. I'd have to say that the beef noodles probably were the best item for me! Prices were just about as you'd expect: not too high, but not super cheap either...but wholly justified by the great food and lovely service and experience! It's inside a bowling Alley. The folks are really friendly and nice. The food is decent. The burger's are 5 oz. and made fresh. You get a nice brioche bun with fresh lettuce and tomatoes and cheese. The drink options aren't huge. It's not a place you linger or have a conversation. The onion rings are nice and crispy but for me I don't like the huge batter centric rings. I like a light batter with crunch so you can taste the onion. The fires are just okay. Most were a bit soggy for me.

It's funny I come near Woodstock, and I always make that joke "Boba burger?" anytime I'm in the area with my buddies The other day one of the owners kids was playing near the register and you know its moments like that where they're just happy and such great people with great hospitality to there customers. I've reviewed this place once before: Tokyo dog, Lechon burger, large fries, and triple berry smoothie is my go-to. I seriously don't exaggerate you need to come by before they close. I hope they find a place quickly because you know I sure will always come back.

Neta Sushi is one of those restaurants that close between lunch and dinner and they expand the menu to more stuff. A casually classy type of atmosphere. The prices are okay for quality. Coming in here it was pretty chill. It's got plenty of tables so it's okay for groups. They also have a bar so customers can sit there and watch them make sushi. A lot of these usual items. They also have a few cocktails and other things like sake. It's about $7 for beers. They have Japanese ones like Sapporo. Certainly the food is why people come. It's about $6 to get the cheapest options. A few good ones for vegetarians to get. We got the Chili Avocado Maki and the Shiitake Mushroom Maki. Came with kimchi and wasabi paste like always. These were pretty filling to be honest. A few other menu items to check out if liking authentic. There's squid and that kind of stuff. Got to be the best place to get sushi around here. It's closed Mondays. There's a few things okay for vegans and vegetarians.
