We ordered sushi and everything was so fresh. We got the sushi combination b, nigiri combination and the neta deluxe and that was more than enough for the 4 adults. They also bring you a miso soup as well to start which was perfect on the rainy day we went. They do get busy so it is better to make a reservation. We game after watching our nephews baseball game on a Friday and were pleased to find this on Yelp with such great reviews. It's quaint - doesn't have a lot of decor, but it's decent looking. We sat at a two top by the front door and window, but it is next to a short wall with a decorative piece on the shelf so it makes that table kind of private. We were amazed to see how many servers they had working that evening when we arrived 7:30 pm without a reservation. There were probably six open tables and within half an hour the place was completely packed so they had staffed up well with five servers for maybe 15 tables. We enjoyed the ike karaage which is octopus tentacles. They call them squid on the menu, but squid tentacles are much smaller than that. They were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The dipping sauce was super light and fluffy maybe with a tiny bit of lemon and miso and it complemented the karaage very well. We also had the blistered shishito peppers which were dusted with ground red pepper and came with a soy base dipping sauce and a lemon. We thought maybe they would be good with the miso lemon aïoli, but actually they were much better dipped in the soy sauce mixture. My entree was the sashimi salad, which really had an enormous amount of fish. All I could see was tuna and salmon chunks (probably leftovers that could not be used in sushi because of their shape) with a nice mixture of greens and tobiko. It was lightly dressed with a soy, ginger and sesame vinaigrette and very tasty. My husband had the hama chili roll and it was very light but flavorful. While we usually order delivery, it was restaurant week and my husband's birthday so we took our eldest out to a Sunday early dinner. Service was great. They were accommodating for our toddler and gave an extra dessert for my husband's birthday. They have high chairs but my toddler doesn't like sitting in them. Food was good. Good deal. The rolls were a little different from last year. I preferred the Neta maki over the ocean drive though. I liked the kabayaki unagi maki esp with my favorite yuzu truffle sauce. The dessert options were more this time but my husband thought the chocolate cake and cheesecake were too sweet by themselves. Wow this is a gem in Park Ridge! The food is outstanding and the service is even better. Inside is not big but enough seats to accommodate the lunch rush. This is an updated review and the first time I was here was earlier this year probably about five or six months ago. I have to say this place is still top-notch great quality, fish and creative, sushi rolls or maki's that are available. The sushi bar that is directly in front of all the seating is open and so you can see everything being made fresh, which is fantastic. They move very quickly and food comes out and turns around very quickly. The weight staff here ladies are very, very nice and friendly and super patient. When you look at what's in the area of downtown Parkridge for sushi options this has to be the best value and the best quality. There are trendy or sushi places within walking distance however the exact same tuna roll at those places are twice the price and absolutely absurd The staff here behind the sushi bar also is very nice and friendly. The $12 truffle yuzu salmon was very buttery and fresh and soft and not salty. The sauce was perfect with just a little sweetness to it. The fried tofu $7 was okay. It was swimming in tasty tempura sauce which it didn't need bc it was a waste and will be thrown out. Sushi combo A was $28 and had 2 big rolls (California and Spicy Tuna w LOTS of tuna). Well, here is the deal. It's a legit awesome sushi place. This is probably one of the best sushi I have tasted in Chicago area. The fish was fresh, the service is excellent. The decor is clean and inviting, it does feels like they would get fairly busy. The sweet shrimp is on point, the fried head is also nice and crunchy without is being overly burnt. The nigiri is nice, the rice has great complexity of vinegar, but not overpowering. Melt in your mouth goodness! Also to note, their Ika Kara age (deep fried squid) is really good! I cannot believe there is such tenderness in the squid meat, wrapped by such delicate crunchy texture of the tempura batter! The service and food is also consistent - fresh, quality, and worth every dime. It's typically not too packed in here and fairly quiet so the servers are very attentive. They also have clean bathrooms available. My absolute favorite is their spicy tuna roll. They also have a great miso soup (although a tad pricey, everything else is priced fairly). Their jalapeño poppers are a unique warm app and I love the cream cheese and lightly fried touch. They also serve a Spider Roll that's a great bang for your buck and honestly the best I've had. Their Hama Chili is another great one and really refreshing, along with Salmon Citrus. You really can't go wrong no matter what you choose and you'll be shocked, even when you add Sake, how affordable your bill is. From our server, to the staff behind the counter, everyone had such great vibes, everyone had big smiles and they really made the experience great. We tried a bunch of different things. We enjoyed it all. The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice is everything you'd expect and want crispy rice to be. Flavorful, fresh, crispy with a little kick of heat. Would order again for sure. We tried both noodle dishes which we enjoyed as well, I honestly haven't had Udon or Yakisoba prior, so I have nothing to compare it to, but everyone really liked them. We also had the Chicken Karaage (Japanese fried chicken) appetizer and that was some good chicken. It exceeded expectations - it was so flavorful, juicy and extra crispy. The sauce and peppers that accompanied it made it such a well rounded enjoyable dish. If someone doesn't like fish in your party, they will love this. We also ordered a variety of rolls. What I can for say for sure is that the ingredients are very fresh. The rice was just right - fresh, warm and sticky, held its shape and separates in your mouth so you aren't chewing dense rice. It had a great flavor on its own. It wasn't bland. The fish was vibrant and colorful, delicately sliced and really had no fish taste at all. It is obvious that it is very fresh and properly handled. The fish was buttery tender and melted in your mouth. The prices are reasonable and the overall experience from the staff to the food was five stars.
