The perfect neighborhood restaurant. Consistently delicious food, friendly service, fantastic wine selection. I've gone for a birthday dinner but more often come just to have a glass of wine and dessert and thoroughly enjoy being in the warm and inviting dining room. There is much discussion about how much roast chicken should cost, but Badaboom stands out in that it is transparent about the pricing. The chickens are the freshest they can be, humanely raised and prepared with great care. And it shows in the dish that arrives at your table which is a chicken with roasted potatoes that is greater than the sum of its parts, filling and worth exactly what you paid. All the other dishes I've had here are equally fresh and beautifully prepared. The bread and butter is not to be missed. The ratatouille is amazing and will convert a veggie hater. I recently tried their beet salad and could not stop eating it. What I really come here for is the riz au lait. You might be tempted to get the chocolate mousse, which is of course good, but if you want a great dessert get the rice pudding. It is unlike anything you have had. Came here during the week with a couple of friends. The place is a bit small but the decor is very aesthetically pleasing with its clean and minimal look. I loved being able to see into the kitchen. The service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and welcoming. Now in terms of food, I was a bit disappointed. The bread and seasonal butter was just cold bread with salted butter. We ordered the rotisserie chicken with haricot vert (green string beans) in a butter sauce. Everything needed salt. It was so bland. Luckily we also ordered French fries which were delicious and would def order again. Overall I do still plan on coming back to try the chicken schnitzel and steak frites. I'm just a bit bummed the rotisserie chicken fell flat in my opinion. read more

The beautiful thing about life is you can learn something everyday. I, for example, never would have thought orange wine and rotisserie chicken would pair so well together until I came to Badaboom. I made the push to Bed Stuy to meet Ryan from the Supervinobros on Instagram, as we bonded online over our respective niches of rotisserie chicken and wine. What a crazy sentence to type. We clicked right away, and began chopping it up about what a crazy place the internet is. As we were having a bro-down and becoming real life friends as opposed to just internet friends, my heart sank as I scanned the menu and saw the prices. A half roasted chicken with potatoes was $32, and a whole one was $58. $58 for a whole bird!?!?!?!! That's the most expensive one I've ever seen. I immediately turned to him and whispered, "Bro I hate to be this guy and I know this is your spot, but $58 for a chicken is CRAZY. I don't have to make a video because if I do I have to mention the price..." He said "Nah do it, at the end of the day they price it like this, so they have to be comfortable with people knowing." Respect. Once my heart stopped racing, we took a look at the rest of the menu and the wine list. The wine list was his realm, and he began selling me on this orange wine that would pair well with the chicken. In the most confident tone he began describing the wine: "It's from this north eastern Italian region that borders Slovenia that is one of the cradles of the natural wine movement and they ferment the grapes this certain way because" yadda yadda yadda. I tried to keep up, but it was a different language to me. It was like Neil deGrasse Tyson explaining astrophysics to a 5th grader. After he finished his dissertation, I said "Yup that sounds great!" We settled on a whole chicken w/ potatoes ($58), roasted carrots ($14), and Asparagus ($16). Once I got past the sticker shock, this chicken was pretty damn good. Oddly enough, in my quest to find the best chicken in New York City I haven't hit many French restaurants, which is ironic because France is the birthplace of the Tissi. This chicken was absolutely delectable. It was a light, herb-based seasoning with a subtle buttery flavor. It was cooked perfectly, with even the breast being extremely tender. I've found a tender breast harder to find than one of the Legendary Pokemon. The wine paired so well with it too. I can't say it was worth $58, but there is no bird on the planet I'd pay that for. The potatoes were also phenomenal, as they sit under the chicken in the rotisserie oven and collect all the juices falling off. All in all, I'm thankful for this experience. I was excited to try this place and had heard good things but was left disappointed due to a few things. One of those things was the service, our waitress was a bit cold and did not check on us throughout our visit. On to the food, the roasted chicken was tasty but incredibly hard to cut and honestly not that much meat. We struggled using butter knives to carve slices from the chicken. In addition, the potatoes that came with our chicken were HORRIBLE, something was deeply wrong like they were possibly reheated or had gone bad. Thankfully we also ordered the potato gratin which was tasty although small and the green beans. Overall I likely would probably not return, as the chicken did not really wow us, which for a specialty restaurant I think it should've been more memorable. read more

Badaboom won me over right away. The staff was warm and attentive, and the wine list is terrific. I sampled both white and sparkling varietals and loved every sip. I came specifically for the chicken schnitzel and it did not disappoint. It was crispy, juicy, and perfectly balanced by the fresh green salad served alongside. I also tried the fries and roast carrots, both excellent, especially when dipped in the house mayo (don't skip it!). We didn't have any major expectations coming here as they've only been open 2.5 months. But we've passed by it a few times and from what we could tell it looked really good. I have to say tonight was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I couldn't put my finger on it exactly, but I felt the flavors were all perfectly mixed. And the there was a lot of thought put into all the dishes and the wines. The portion sizes.. whoa!! The biggest and the best chicken schnitzel I've had in the years I've been on earth. It's pretty much as large as the plate. It was just two of us, so we got a bottle of crémant, chicken schnitzel as recommended by Tsziah (we had the pleasure of him taking care of us, quite a lovely person), haricot verts, fries, house mayo and the pesto. For those that ever complain about dishes not having enough salt to their taste - I never understand it, but I think they probably don't cook at home. If something is ever undersalted ask your server for a side of sea salt (e.g., maldon in this case). A little goes a long way for chicken or other dishes. The atmosphere here is also charming. We only live a couple of blocks away so will be back here lots. So excited it's a new addition to the neighborhood and highly recommended! read more
