My family and I all had takeout burritos. The wife and I both had "mad dog" burritos. They were dogs, all right. Flavorless, watery, and barely warm. The beef half was at least salty. The chicken half was basically boiled chicken and some lettuce. There was supposed to be salsa, sour cream, and tomato as well. Mine had none of those things; my wife says hers had a bit of sour cream but no salsa or tomato. Very disappointing. My daughter liked her kickin' chicken burrito a little more, I guess. I'm a recent transplant to Real Housewives country and I work in NYC so I'm going to preface this review by saying that there are no better burrito to be found on the East Coast than Anna's Taqueria in the Boston area. They set a gold standard that has yet to be matched (but please send me suggestions!). With that said, my husband and I had hoped that Badlands Tacos would be decent to pretty good. I guess the burritos (black bean for me and badlands for him) were decent but far from pretty good. They were incredibly boring. No real flavor, poorly wrapped, and just mushy in general. I'm giving this place three stars because their pulled beef was good...Not great, but good. I got chips and salsa and have no idea why the salsa they gave me was SO spicy. I just feel like the salsa restaurants give with their chips is usually mild. My burrito was completely soaked which means they likely wrapped it too soon after steaming it. The chips were OK but they don't have that really great corn flavor I love. The rice LITERALLY tasted like dish-soap and the refried beans were bland and had a weird texture. Boyfriend took me here many months ago since we were both craving for tacos. He told me he had been here before and their tacos were pretty good. Badlands has a little mini outdoor seating area. It's quite cute. The inside dining area didn't have a warm feeling to it. It was a bit small. It's not a place where they have waiters and waitresses..its mostly you order at the counter and pay up front. Once your food is made, you pick it up and just find a seat. We decided to dine outside while enjoying the weather we were having. We ordered the fish tacos, the chicken tacos and the jalapeño poppers. The boyfriend bought the spanish jarritos grapefruit soda which he enjoys. Their tacos were pretty tasty. They weren't salty nor dry. They were perfectly made. We deliciously devoured our order and left content. We will definitely be coming back for some more tacos to enjoy. read more

The tacos had no flavor and the corn tortillas that were supposed to be crunchy were super soggy. Taco Bell tastes better than this place at more than half the price. Just ordered food to be picked up. This was mine and my wife's first time eating from here even though we've lived in the area for almost 5 years. We were very happy! We split an order of Badlands Tacos which were delicious. The homemade corn tortilla was crunchy and tasty. Just the right amount of meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato. We also ordered an 8oz guacamole which was delicious and very fresh. Mind you we ordered at 8:30 on a Sat. night. She got a chicken chimichanga which was perfectly stuffed and fried crispy, even after the drive home, which is only 5 mins. I got a half shredded chicken, half shredded beef burrito (forget the name) and i added refried beans which was awesome. I wish I only got beef, just personal preference, nothing was wrong with the chicken. Both of our meals came with an ample amount of chips and a small, maybe 2oz. salsa. The salsa was a bit salty for me, but my wife didn't think so. All in all we enjoyed Badlands Tacos and will be returning again and again read more

It's hard for me to really rate this place and here is why. We started off with the guacamole and chips and it was really good. I then had the Sam's Chili. The chili was pretty spicy, but not spicy enough to make your eyes water. It was a beef and bean chili, however it tasted like there were only beans and no beef. I would have preferred it to have more beef and less beans. However, I did like that it was topped with lots of cheese and sour cream. It also came with lots of chips to dip into the chili. My two friends had two different types of tacos. They said they were really really good. Good enough that they would come back here once a month! So, even though the chili wasn't the best, the quac and tacos were apparently very delicious. I might just have to try this place again, but order something different. Always friendly service, always greets their guests. I enjoy the Badlands tacos (2 per order) which is ground beef and chedar cheese, you decide if you want crispy, soft flour or corn tortillas. I prefer soft corn tortillas and is very tasty. their salsa is also fresh and goes well with the tortilla chips, both can be purchased to take home in addition to small sample with your order. we get a large bag of chips and large container of salsa to munch on watching TV or movie. you can also eat in, plenty of street parking if you choose so. we like taking it home so we can eat like pigs :). we have tried other Mexican restaurants in the area but always like coming back to Badlands. read more

I went there this weekend with a large family and we had the freshest, most delicious tacos and burritos of our life! The veggie tacos are LOADED with fresh, delicious ingredients. Their pico de gallo is out of this world: The owner is a sweetheart and could tell we liked our food "hot" and got us a special pico de gallo with fresh green peppers on top! Even though my taste buds were exploding, I just could not stop. It is THAT good. I usually prefer italian cuisine and was never one for mexican, HOWEVER this place has changed all that. This place is fantastic. I have been coming here for lunch for several months now, and it has never been a let down. In fact, it has always been a great time. I routinely orderthe "Once a brave chicken" tacos, which feature deliciously tender chicken which isn't dry. For about $10.50 I can get those two tacos (which by the way are large), a side of chips, and a tortilla soup which is home made. The chips come with salsa, as well. We have loved Badlands for the past couple of years; it's been one of the only takeout places our family of 5 can ever agree on. A couple weeks ago, we ordered some tacos, quesadillas, and I had the Mescolanza salad. Within minutes, I was violently ill. It was undoubtedly food poisoning. There had just been a massive recall on lettuce, so I called the restaurant to let them know. The girl who answered the phone thanked me for calling, was very apologetic and said she'd have the manager/owner contact me ASAP and they'd like to issue a refund. Here we are almost three full weeks later and I've yet to be contacted. I'm so disappointed in this service and will find another taco takeout joint to patronize. read more

This spot is normally my fav for fish tacos but tonight my family and I ordered dinner and everything was wrong. The girl who answered the phone had a nasty attitude to begin with and when I called to let her know everything was wrong she sounded as if I was bothering her. We had to drive to go get it and to get my order fixed I would have had to drive all the way back there again. My best friend and I like coming here when we are in town for Fresh and delicious Mexican food. I always get the classic badlands tacos, which are really delicious. They taste fresh, authentic, and have a solid amount of food in it. One order gets you 2 tacos and a side of chips and salsa. They are a little on the greasy side sometimes but nothing too terrible. The chips and salsa on the side are a little bland in all honesty since the salsa has very little spice to it (I happen to love spicy salsa). The service is very quick. You order by going to the counter and placing your order. They then give you a table number and allow you to sit anywhere. The place is usually quiet when we come in. It usually only takes about 10 minutes for the food to come out. We usually stay an hour catching up and they've never been rude to us about staying so long. We usually spend about $10.00 each per meal, which is a good bargain in the area. read more

Ah living in suburban Allendale NJ It's kind of hard to come across decent ethnic food, especially Hispanic food other then mexican, or even good mexican to be honest. I had driven by Badlands for years, never stopping in to see what it was about. We looked up the menu online (yelp of course) and decided to order in to pick up. We decided on an order of gaucamole and chips, and chicken chimichangas with sides of mexican rice and black beans. We waited about 15 minutes and picked up the food. The 8oz gaucamole was more then enough for 3 of us to share (2 adults and a 3 year old). It was good except some of the avacado that was chopped up in it was hard and obviously not ripe still. Regardless, it was still a good guac. The chicken chimichangas were crispy on the outside and juicy and flavorful on the inside. Both my boyfriend and I enjoyed them a lot. The mexican rice was tasty as well and the beans well they are just beans lol. ***There is one thing I'd like.to bring attention to and that is the fact that when my bf went in to pick up.the food there was an odd charge on the bill. Mind you we ordered food to pick up, meaning we had no table service and left the restaurant with our food, but they added an automatic gratuity charge on to the bill. Correct me if I'm wrong but most places do not do that and I really didn't appreciate that or expect it. Make no mistake, this is NOT Mexican food. It is Tex-Mex. NO LIMES on site. NOT ONE. I'm not kidding. Not just that they ran out, they don't even bother to carry them. He looked at me like I was crazy and offered me artificial lemon juice instead. Also no pork on menu, at all. NO PORK!! on a place that fronts as a Mexican joint! Also, no cilantro to be found anywhere. Chicken was boiled and bland. Watch out for the beef, if it seasoned ground beef, Old El Paso style (the kind that comes in a packet and you burp up for hours afterwards). My overpriced "taco" was primarily lettuce, which doesn't belong on a taco anyway. Al pastor, carnitas, basic asada? Forget it, you won't find ANY of that here. You will, however, find a large selection of BURRITOS! There are obviously no Mexicans in THIS kitchen. If I seem irate, it's because I was promised "authentic tacos" by a friend and ended up at this Tex-Mex stand. Maybe I'm a snob but I'm sure anyone who's eaten a legit taco before would feel the same. If there was a Mexican Food Purity Council these people would be in the slammer for life. They should shorten their name from "Badlands Tacos" to "Bad Tacos" to avoid fraud. Eating here was so disappointing I raced to my local Mexican go-to to ease my frazzled soul. If you're looking for Tex-Mex, it's decent but generic Tex-Mex. Love there badland tacos. They make it not spicy for me all the time. Tacos are always delivered crispy with a great crunch. Only downfall is they charge you for every little thing if you want extra sour cream it's $0.50 gac is $1.00 if you don't want beans and want more cheese they charge you for that. Also wish they would put less lettuce on the tacos and a little more meat. Tacos come with chips and salsa and I would eat the salsa but it's way to spicy for me. Also min of $20 for delivery and $2 fee for it. The taco salad is amazing and it's huge just need add more dressing but if you want extra you will be charged for it. read more
