Love CARS fat sandwiches! always satisfies my cravings when i want a treat with something cheesy, meat filled, fried and filling! My go to is the Fat-Doug sandwich. The sandwiches are big and very filling. I buy a large sandwich and cut it up to "meal prep" when I need a quick tasty meal for the next day. Taste best fresh though of course. You definitely need to figure out which sandwich is good as everyone's go to is different but if you look through all the options, you'll surely find something good for you. What a waste of money and time. I was craving a soda and a grilled chicken sandwich. I read the other reviews where they have the best sandwich in the area. NOT! Service is sometimes slow but if you know what you want order it through Yelp for pick up so your wait will be less... otherwise good luck cause there's always something to try on their menu. CARS has a rather large menu but I've only ever had their fat sandwiches. Being a Rutgers alumnus I think I can be considered a respectable authority on fat sandwiches. That being said, CARS fat sandwiches stack up to the real thing. I ordered the Fat Reptar: Cheesesteak, chicken tenders, mac and cheese bites, jalapeño slices and Buffalo- ranch dressing. Ridiculously indulgent. But hey, you have to treat yourself, right? The sandwich tastes exactly how you'd expect it to, this isn't exactly fine dining. With that, everything in the sandwich was done well; the chicken and cheese and weren't dry and the Mac and cheese was the right amount of cheesy for a sandwich. I ordered the 8' sandwich and it was just the right amount to curb my hunger. You could probably split the foot long between two and have both people satisfied. I've been to CARS in the past, when they were operating out of a deli/bagel shop. My experience has always been pretty consistent. I have fond memories of making runs to them for drunk food during house parties. I think the only time they've ever messed up my order was when they gave me more food than I asked for. Who would complain about that? One slight annoyance was the mass of teenagers loitering around the entrance. Sometimes I wake up in the morning in a ghastly and ghostly panic. My mind in a fever rush looks into the skies that are my bedroom fan, filled with so much dust... wow I should really clean this thing like once in a lifetime shouldnt I? Beside the point, my mind thinks to itself... does this place CARS even exist or did I make it up. I mean it seems fake. Everything about it. The food served. The hours. The people that work here. The people that order from here. And even stranger, the people that even eat in here. Although have to eat in the spot itself every once in a while to get your dose of reality and peak your sense of wonder. This place is simply not 5 stars but I'm also not gonna not give this 5 stars just straight off vibes and nostalgia. There is merit to a place that comes into everyone under the influence's mind when they become hungry passed let's say 10 PM anyday of the week. That 1AM hammered meal that you know for absolute certainty will hit the spot as long as you stay up long enough. And if you don't, you wake up the next morning hung with a Fat Tony in the fridgeeee oh man we all know that feeling. Whatever, I'm hip... I'm cool... I get it. And even after I say all this... it's really even pretty decent sober. Milkshakes, boneless wings, wraps, etc... is it almost too stereotyped? I went to CARS for lunch and got the Mac N' Cheese Burger and a banana split shake. The burger had actual mac and cheese and bacon in it and it was very tasty (probably lots of calories though). The shake was pretty good, but didn't really taste or look like a banana split. The service speed is fine and there is some seating inside. The price was $8 for the burger and $5 for the shake, which is a bit more than I'd like to pay, but okay. Overall, CARS has good burgers (and sandwiches according to the other people I ate with), though it's not the cheapest or healthiest sandwich/burger place around. read more

First, the floor was sticky, and I'm not sure why...also, it smelled weird like, well sorta like a night club the night after. Now, on to the food...I had the Fat Tony. This is my first time review let alone first time at Cars in Ramsey, I love spicy food and always look for the hottest thing in the menu. I seen the demented wings and they had four flames by them, I was interested, I love spicy food but these are not it. I was very upset after I took my first bite, I didn't feel like they put any sauce on it, I then proceeded to put Tabasco sauce on it and still it to be honest, it wasn't hot at all. It barely tasted like generic buffalo sauce in which I proceeded to put Tabasco sauce in and still didn't taste a difference, people who like spicy foods, this is not the spot. This place has been on my list to try for almost 2 years thanks to my cousin mentioning it (I don't live in NJ, I live on Long Island). While in NJ on 8/5, I decided to finally make it happen. To the business owner: as someone who doesn't live in the area, I would fix your sign/lighting outside. The lights aimed at the sign were not on & therefore, I couldn't find this place so easily. I had checked google for the business hours, but the whole outside seemed very dark. I had even asked 2 girls standing in front if this place was even open. Not a very inviting exterior at night imo. Maybe bc it was late (after 9 pm), I was forced to use a kiosk to order. I would've preferred to order with a person who possibly could've given me a suggestion of their own (only seemed to be teenagers working). I went with the smaller sized fat Otto. It was amazing & filling (half the sandwich came home with me), well worth the price I paid... but again, if I would've dealt with a person vs. a kiosk, I would've gotten the sandwich without the chipotle mayo bc it was a little too spicy for me. We looked over the menu and gave a call to place our order which I would highly recommend at late hours and were on our way. We walked into a packed storefront with a bunch of kids who some seemed to be intoxicated and being extremely obnoxious. Good thing we called ahead so we were in and out of there pretty quickly. My mac and cheese bites were extremely dense and honestly too greasy for me to even finish. I gave those to my friend also. If I was drunk I would of been able to eat that but being I was completely sober I couldn't bring myself to eat those. As a Rutgers Alum, I have to say I was very impressed. The bread for the Fat Sandwiches is dead on. I felt like I was down at the grease trucks again when I first bit in. The only thing I recommend is adding a sandwich that includes cheesesteak, gyro meat, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, fries, and tzatziki sauce. At RU, it's called the Fat Filipino. Obviously, you'd want to change the name in the interest of being PC. That being said, there are several sandwiches on the menu that include gyro meat and tzatziki sauce down at RU, so CARS needs to incorporate these into the menu if they want to be authentic. I ordered Footlong Classic Philly and small Mac n Cheese bites. Food was great! But customer service is below standard and very poor. When I came in to order at the corner, Ashton S. came towards the counter stood in front of me but he was on his cell phone for about a minute. Then after using his phone, he just stared at me didn't say anything even just to greet or ask what do I need. No smiles or a welcoming aura. All he did was show his tough dude stance. Great food terrible service. The food is almost always on point but on multiple occasions they've forgotten parts of my order or just been ridiculously rude. For example, once I was sitting and eating with my friends, late night, and as it reached closing one of the employees came to the middle of the floor and screamed at the top of his lungs "you don't gotta go home but you gotta get the f*** outta here... no seriously we're closed".
