Went last night with a party of 6. Been living in the Oviedo area for the last 25 years and have eaten at Stefanos a couple of times over the years. Been several years since I've eaten there--mostly because I have some memory of it being too crowded plus no reservations and I hate the wait. Well went last night and my memory was a bit incorrect. The establishment is larger than I remember and my wait wasn't too long. But here's the main reason I'm Yelping. Excellent service and the food was awesome. Although the staff is outstanding and stellar, the food portion is not. There is all ways an excuse for why things are happening. For instance, I ordered a Caprese salad, and the first photo is what they gave me. You go to other Sicilian restaurants and it will typically look like the other photos. Also, I heard that Stefano is not the owner anymore, and the original owners are not Italian. Nevertheless, I will not eat there again. I gave them three tries. Sicily is clearly insulted, as well as, Little Italy in New York City, and Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Oh, and they charge you $3.99 for their own water. read more

This unassuming Italian spot in a strip mall has my favorite Italian food in the area. The service is fantastic, and the ambiance is cozy. They even have a live piano player that really adds to the atmosphere. The menu is extensive, offering something for everyone. They bring out fresh bread with olive oil, which is so addictive. On my last visit, I tried the Penne Alla Vodka, which was fantastic! I am very picky about vodka sauce, and this one was perfect. My husband got the Chicken Parm, which he raved about. The food is always remarkable and they have a live piano player over the speaker system, setting a great Italian vibe. Was here today for spaghetti and meatballs. I was craving for sausage too. They were kind enough to accommodate half and half. The spaghetti was cooked just right. Meatballs was ok- moist but not too meaty. The sausage had a strong taste of sage like ingredient. Place is clean and priced right. Sat at the bar. One bartender was kind and tools his time. Something has changed. The lasagna had some kind of vegetable in the meat sauce (green pepper and onion perhaps) and the Caesar dressing is less creamy more tangy. I'm not sure what else has changed but be advised your homestyle favorite might have been updated. This is one of my favorite local Italian spots. Ive dined in and gotten delivery several times and they never disappoint. The vibes inside are so cool, very authentic. Service is top tier, some of the friendliest staff and their food is delicious. I've enjoyed items I usually loathe like olives. I have only been here a handful of times over the years, but it has always been a pleasant experience. The food here is top notch and the service is warm and friendly. It has a cozy atmosphere and you can get away with casual clothing, even though it skews visually higher than casual dining. The bar and piano player have been a lovely addition over the years. Tonight we had the Tortellini Di Stefano and a salad with chicken. Both were huge and delicious. The salad had probably two full chicken breasts on it, and the homemade balsamic was fantastic. Ooooh mmmmy gosh. First timer back in March 21st and I look back on my experience here like it was just yesterday. First off, Fabian R. was amazing. He was very attentive, helpful, patient, and friendly. I ordered a cappuccino at around 8:50pm, then soon after realized myself that the restaurant closes at 9pm-- but he did not even hint at that at all and gladly encouraged it even (I'll still be more mindful of this in the future and order sooner). I had no expectations so the complimentary bread was nice. I ordered the Veal Alla Sorrento with penne pasta and a side of Minestrone soup. The soup was recommended by Fabian and it did not disappoint. The Veal Alla Sorrento was incredible. The flavors were divine. The temperature was perfectly warm until I was done eating (and I'm a slow eater who would sometimes take food to-go just so I can eat it warm at home). The portion was great-- I ate half and saved the rest for lunch the next day. Husby's Gnocchi Della Nonna was also very tasty with perfectly cooked gnocchi. For dessert, they were out of the Torta Al Cioccollato from their Specials menu-- so I opted for the homemade Tiramisu Cheesecake ($8.50), which was unique and delicious. Followed by a Cappuccino ($4.50), which was to my liking coffee-strength wise but I would have preferred some brown sugar to go with it (obviously not a big deal). As a side note, I think the plastic cups are an interesting choice for the vibe they are going for though. But overall ambiance was lovely. Husby and I have tried to go back, but our timing has been off. Either it's too late on a work night or it's a Sunday when they are closed. The space is small and cozy with that intimate, neighborhood feel that makes you want to linger over every bite. We came on a Friday and loved the live piano music (they also have it on Tuesdays!). It added such a lovely touch to the evening. We started with calamari--crispy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. My stuffed shells were rich, cheesy, and comforting in all the right ways. We had a wonderful experience at this little Italian restaurant. It was our first time there which the hostess conveyed to the servers. They brought out a complementary sample caprese for us to try because it was our first time. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and the atmosphere was just perfect with the wonderful piano player. We were able to relax and catch up and eat some amazing food. The cannelloni was cooked perfectly and the filling was very tasty. Our dinners did come with soup or salad as well. This will be a restaurant that I will visit multiple times. I love Stefano's. Excellent service, great family and bar ambience, it's always an excellent choice. However, my meal. The bread was undercooked and too dense to eat, the Caesar salad wilted and overdressed and obviously premade. My meal was cold. When I asked to warm it, staff was wonderful but it came out barely warm again. My entree was delicious in taste but served over water logged pasta and poor quality pasta as well. Stefano's needs to offer some fresh pasta, the quality of their food warrants it. Took 17 minutes to get a drink. Starters and sides were very basic. Soup breads and salads are honestly better at Carrabba's. That said, the mains were very delicious. I got a takeout order from Stefano's Trattoria and I have to say that the pleasant woman handling my order was incredible. She was friendly and professional and truly is an incredible representative of this business. I had ordered a veal parmigiana and an eggplant parmigiana. They offer a choice between a soup or a salad and since the soup was Italian wedding soup, we opted for the soups. When I got home and opened the food, the first thing to jump out to me was that they gave us something akin to dinner rolls rather than Italian bread. Oh well, everyone does their thing. I would have preferred Italian bread. The Italian wedding soup was rather bland. I cannot say that I was a fan. As for the veal parmigiana and eggplant parmigiana and the accompanying pasta. Sadly, it was also rather lackluster. Overall, the food here was pretty much a huge disappointment. I cannot see myself returning here for a meal. read more

I live in Oviedo, so it's hard not to know that Stefano's is not just a restaurant, but a landmark. I have eaten here 4-5 times in the past few years. My first few diners consisted of calamari appetizers, standard baked dishes such as lasagna, and manicotti, and eggplant parmesan, all were average. I wanted to like this place more, so I told myself I had to try their specialty dish someday if I really wanted to fairly review them. Well, my brother and his wife were here from Georgia to visit our mom for Mother's Day Weekend, so I reserved a table for eight people. I figured with an early 5:00 pm time, we could relax and enjoy diner without being rushed out the door. From the start something was just wrong. The compliment bread was barely enough for four people, not alone eight. When my adult son asked for more bread, he was either told no or at best provided a single piece of bread just for him. Frankly, I think his girlfriend just gave him her small piece when the waitress said no. The waitress literally put a saucer of 2-3 tablespoons of Olive Oil with Italian spices on the table for an 8 table person to pass around and share with the bread. I was embarrassed for our out of town guest that I had invited. Several of my party ordered the Shrimp Scampi with linguini, including my 81 year old mother. My wife immediately told me the shrimp in the scampi was way overcooked, I tried a piece of my wife's shrimp, it was like rubber, she was right it was totally overcooked. I was embarrassed to ask my 81 years mom and sister-in-law if her scampi was also overcooked. I ordered the Stefano's Special Pollo De Stefano, which is a simple chicken and sausage dish. I too was disappointed, the sauce was loaded with black pepper. I like ground pepper, but this was too much. Also, the sherry sauce tasted more like Marsala than sherry. My adult daughter and brother ordered combo pasta dishes that were plain and bland, did not wow. My adult son ordered the calamari pasta dish, which he said was good and he girlfriend seemed to enjoy her diner, but I didn't see what she had. I thought some at the table might want desert. I recall being there and seeing the staff stop at tables with either a desert cart or handheld tray to entice the table, but tonight the waitress just brought check without as much as even asking if anyone wanted a desert. Disappointing. When I checked in at front desk, I asked if a tip was automatically added for parties of 8. I know this is a common practice, I just want to know. Well, the matradee tried to act as if he didn't know, and he offered to send the owner to the table. I just wanted to be prepared for when the bill came, but having the owner come to the table seemed over the top. When I got the bill, the waitress did not offer that the tip was included, she just handed over the credit card device, which had application selections for 20% - 25% tipping to added. But of course a 20% tip had already been added for the group of 8, but had I not paid attention and hit the 20% I would have ended up paying an a 40% tip. When I asked the waitress, she smugly told me, "well people can always pay more for a tip if they want." My guess is a lot people with large groups fail to realize a 20% tip has already been added. Overall, my wife and I were embarrassed to invited family to restaurant that was simply not good. Looking back, none of our visits have wowed us, I just thought I was not ordering their more costly specials, well we did tonight and it was still not good. read more

One of the best Italian restaurants to eat. Easy parking, courteous staff. We were 12 people called ahead for seating, when we arrived we sat within 15 minutes. Immediately were served bread and asked if we wanted water and something to drink. Food arrived in a timely manner and no one's food was wrong or cooked wrong. Highly recommended.
