This is a great Italian restaurant located in a strip mall in the Altamonte Springs area. Parking is easy because it's a strip mall, so there's parking everywhere. They take reservations, but when I called I was told that they don't take them past three p.m. because they get incredibly busy. Judging by the quality of the food, that's not hard to believe. There's a series of appetizers available. We tried mussels and their fried calamari, and both were delicious. The portions are generous, so you can bring a large party and order a few to share. We were a party of six and we did fine with the two appetizers. There's also some bread that's complementary and comes with a delicious spread on the side! This alone is a great reason to visit here. Our mains also came with either a soup or salad. I had the Caesar salad, and it was great! Nice croutons with a light dressing and some shredded cheese. I ordered their carbonara for my mains. You can pick from a variety of pastas, such as spaghetti and linguine. I chose spaghetti, as I felt it would better absorb the sauce. The sauce was a nice creamy sauce served with prosciutto and had that classic carbonara flavor. Totally delicious! For drinks, they have many options, such as coffee and soda, as well as a wine selection. Great options for drinks in this place. The service is also great. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and checked on us regularly. Overall, it's a fantastic restaurant. Great food and great service. You may want to plan ahead if you're going later in the day, as it looks like they don't take reservations past 3 p.m. as I understand it. If you must wait, though, I'd say it's worth it. For some hearty authentic Italian food, Nono's is always our go to. The staff is so friendly and nice. They remember their repeat customers, which are a lot of them. The food is just so delicious, I have loved everything I've ever tried here. I always start with a side Caesar salad. I love their homemade Caesar dressing. Their homemade croutons are addictive. I sometimes ask for extra just because I love crunching into them. Tonight I got the gnocchi alla vodka and added meatballs. Those meatballs are so big, they are a meal in themselves. The vodka sauce is definitely one of my favorites around. So creamy and has a lot of flavor. The gnocchi were tender and I couldn't stop popping them in my mouth. I came here with some coworkers after work. I hadn't really ever heard of Nonno's, but someone else did, and I love local recs, so off we went. Ambiance was really nice. Very old-world-Italian-esque. We got seated in a nice corner and got started. I started off with an order of Bruschetta (Toasted bread topped with marinated tomatoes, garlic, basil & a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan) for the table. These were the best I've ever had. Nice, thicc chunks of toast that were actual toast and not just crackers. Also, the pieces of tomato were multicolored and very well coated with that garlic, basil, and Parm. Seriously, the best I've had. Very good stuff. For my main, I had the Veal and Shrimp Parmesan (A classic surf and turf: Breaded shrimp & veal, lightly fried, topped with marinara and baked with melted mozzarella). Wow. This thing was a spectacle. The veal and shrimps were very well pounded thin and very nicely coated with a seasoned breadcrumb mixture. Fried crispy, tasty marinara, tasty melted mozz. Just another great dish. Overall, if you specialize in national chain Italian places, definitely step outside of your comfort zone and come to mom 'n' pop places like this. Nonno's is definitely one of my favorites in town. Their complimentary bread with pesto alone is worth the trip out to Altamonte Springs. They now started selling it by the jar to take home! We started with calamari and mozzarella sticks, for the main, my husband always orders the tortellini di leo and I had the carbonara. All of the dishes were so flavorful and portions are large. To begin, unlike most people who submit reviews based quantitatively, or on the totality of the experience, I base them qualitatively, or specifically based on the intent of my visit. For example, if I stopped by a place to eat and they had great service, but the food was not to my liking, that means they will not receive high marks, this is what I experienced here this weekend. My wife and I stopped by, as we have wanted to give them a try for a while now. They have plenty of parking and were busy, but we were seated right away and the server, Shannon, who did an excellent job, took our drink order and gave us time to decide. My wife ordered the Chicken Piccata and I had the Lasagna. We both had the Italian Wedding Soup and for someone who absolutely hates vegetables, I have to say it grew on me, as they were not under-cooked. The bread was great, as well as the pesto sauce and it didn't take a long time to receive our entrees. My wife absolutely loved her choice; however, my lasagna was lacking, as I would describe it more like lasagna soup with a few noodles swimming in very little meat, with a cheese coating. My wife also thought it had no consistency and the dish eventually turned my stomach, which required me to get ice cream on the way home to get rid of the after taste. I have come to the conclusion that I am partial to my wife's lasagna and staying away from your regular restaurants to seek new places only leaves you disappointed. The owner, did greet us while we were eating and the noise level was acceptable. They do not offer a military discount; however, the prices were very reasonable. Absolutely loved this place! I wanted Italian food and my husband knows I love trying new places. He found this one right near our house. We had no idea. Arrived here around 5pm and were seated right away. Kim came to greet us and she was very kind to us. The kids were upset and hangry and she was very patient with us. We ordered the gnocchi, fries, the stuffed chicken special and the salmon piccata. The pastas are not freshly made in house due to space and time, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pasta fagiole soup was flavorful and delicious. They brought bread out with pesto and that was pretty good too! For dessert we had a cannoli and the tiramisu. They were both excellent! This was a last minute decision to eat here and I was very skeptical! My husband had been here before with a client and had rave reviews. I was very happy with my meal and the sauces are from scratch she said. I need to talk about the seasoning for the fries. I have no clue what it is, but I need a whole bottle of it! Exceptional service. Couldn't speak higher of the staff. It was a small, well functioning, local Italian spot. There was perpetually a line out the door to get a table, that did not dissuade people, they came in droves. This is the hole in the wall Italian spot you're looking for! This spot is very unassuming from the outside but the food is amazing and staff are always so kind. I came for lunch with a friend and wanted something a bit lighter so I opted for the Nonno's Combo. It was good, but I do think they shine more with their pasta options. I ended with a slice of their limoncello cake based on our server's recommendation and she was spot on. After we were turned away from another restaurant for not having a reservation, my friend and I had to think fast about where to eat at now. Up the road Google showed an Italian restaurant and we were like "why not, let's give it a try." The hostesses were very welcoming and took my number for our 30 minute wait. The place was busy which to us was a good sign. The restaurant sits in an underwhelming plaza but that is not the case for the inside. The inside really feels like you are in Sicily. There is many tables and booths with a decent size bar. We waited just short of 30 minutes and were seated. Our server was so kind and also welcoming. The glass of Pinot Noir I ordered was perfection. Bread was brought to the table with this basil pesto sauce. This sauce was AMAZING. I wish I had a whole jar of this to have at home. The calamari was the best I've ever had. It was very tender with a thin amount of breading that was crispy. The red sauce was flavorful for dipping. The house salad with the house vinaigrette was divine and fresh. I ordered the bolognese with spaghetti pasta. The pasta was fresh tasting and so much meat sauce. The dish was to die for. I had leftovers and made 3 meals out of this meal. A sweet lady working there even brought me aluminum foil to wrap my bread to take home with a side of the pesto sauce which I savored. My in laws have raved about Nonno's for years and I was finally able to give it a try! We arrived around 5:45pm on a Wednesday night and had no wait for a party of 3. Though while we were eating, a wait was beginning to form for a table. There's not a ton of seating and it's a popular place! Everyone is served bread and their signature pesto to dip, which was delicious. All meals are served with either a house salad, Caesar salad, or soup of the day. I enjoyed the Caesar salad very much. We arrived at Nonno's on a packed Thursday night around 7:30, and were fortunate enough to be seated immediately at the bar top. I'd been seeing a lot of rave reviews about Nonno's from fellow Yelpers, so my husband and I finally gave them a try. Spoiler alert: we weren't disappointed! Nonno's (which translates into "grandpa" in Italian) is located in a strip mall in Altamonte Springs that off of Semoran Blvd./State Road 436. They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait as they are extremely popular. My husband and I went on a Friday night around 5:30pm and our wait time was 50 minutes. Once we got inside, service was quick but friendly and not rushed. The decor is that of a typical Italian restaurant and they have both table and booth seating. Our food arrived quickly, yet tasted as though it had been slow cooking all day. We opted to start with fried mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and also received complimentary homemade warm bread served with a pesto sauce that I could've drank it was so good! Our side salads before the meal were fresh and my husband said that the homemade Cesar salad dressing was the best he'd ever tasted. For entrees, he chose the lasagna while I chose the chicken pizzaiola. Both were hearty and delicious! Nonno's came highly recommended to us by our friends who wanted to meet us there for dinner. It's in the back of an old plaza, next to a post office (and not far from the fabulous big Adjectives store in Altamonte). They wanted to meet at 5:00 PM, which is a bit early for us, but they said it gets really crowded. Sure enough -- when we arrived (a little late), every table, booth, and seat at the bar was taken. A wave of people come in when they open, although I imagine you could arrive between 6:00 - 6:30 PM and be the second wave as the first wave finishes and leaves. (There's also a 90-minute table limit, as stated on the menu!) The menu options are incredible. There were so many entrees I wanted to try that I had a hard time narrowing it down to just one. And the prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants for dinner. I landed on the Tortellini di Leo - tortellini baked in a dish with a pink meat sauce, prosciutto, and mozzarella until it is steaming hot and ready to burn your mouth, straight from the oven. It was delicious, as expected -- so flavorful and creamy. My partner ordered the Carbonara. I sampled it and it, too, was delicious and creamy. Our friends ordered the Chicken Parmesan and Snapper special. The Chicken Parm was HUGE and smothered in sauce and cheese. The snapper was also huge. I tried a taste of it, too, and it was thick and delicious. Entrees come with soup or salad. The soup of the day was minestrone, which I've never loved. It takes me back to grade school. So I ordered the Caesar salad. The dressing was delicious and there was a lot of shredded Parmesan cheese and crunchy croutons. Complimentary fresh, warm, Italian bread is also brought to the table. So good! This is a true, family-owned Italian restaurant, and it shows in the quality and hospitality. We were even there on the last day before they shut down for a couple of weeks to give their employees their annual vacation break. That's amazing for the employees. I wish they were a bit closer to me in Hamlin, but I'm looking forward to returning to their Altamonte location. read more

Luckily there's a cool game store nearby that was having an event and we spent time there. It's not very big inside and can get quite noisy so if you are looking for a romantic atmosphere... this isn't your spot. But we had 4 kids so it was fine with us. Food was good but not as amazing as many say. My husband got a dish different than mine and basically they were the same with one of them having protein placed on top. Salad was ver good.
