Horrible service. Calling in an order is like sending a message in a bottle, when they don't have your order they'll blame it on you and accuse you of calling the wrong number. Read off the number I called and the nasty lady had nothing else to say. Horrible hospitality, this place lost my business. I will go to bean and bagel. read more

This placed has transformed itself beyond recondition. It looks clean and open, selection of food is much more than what would be expected from "bagel" store. They have soups and sandwiches with new specials almost daily, they have your bacon,egg & cheese variety but also new ones that could compete with NY city delis for sure. Just ok bagels. I had the sliced lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel and my husband had bacon, egg and cheese on an egg-everything bagel (he ordered a regular everything). Both bagels were extremely salty and I ended up picking the salt off the top of mine. I will say that my bagel was piled high with lox, but the fish was almost inedibly salty so I could only eat half. Service was grumpy. Probably won't be back. read more

I asked for a SIMPLE egg sandwich. 2 eggs over easy, ham, bacon, ketchup, and mayo on a roll. I also said OVER EASY 3 times!!! I got 2 over fried scrambled eggs, a mountain of ham which was a thick as a ham steak, bacon, and an entire bottle of ketchup on a roll. I was turned off as soon as I walked in when we were the only ones there and we waited a few minutes for the girl to come out from the back who was wearing pjs like she just rolled out of bed and came to work. It's not such a big deal but if I were running a business I wouldn't let my employees wear their bed clothes to work. My boyfriend ordered a bagel with cream cheese that was chewey and bland. Some of their cooler drinks were dirty as well. I left a voice message for the owner since they are not picking up the phone right now so I guess we will see if they will reimburse us or make us new meals to compensate for this morning. read more

Really not a fan of this place. They close way earlier than any bagel store or deli I know of. They don't make enough of the popular bagels so they always run out (everything, egg everything, etc) I came in about 30 mins before they closed to get a bagel and coffee and they told me they don't have any because they dumped it so they could clean. 30 mins before closing! Also, they constantly mess orders up like giving me a different bagel than what I asked for, cream cheese instead of butter. This place is not great and I would avoid going if Wading River didn't have such limited options. read more

When I first moved to this area I gave this bagel shoppe a try but didn't like that I saw more than one of the employees handling money and then food - with the same hand. I asked the server to please change her gloves and she did, but seemed annoyed. I went back about two months ago since the bagel had tasted good, and I was hoping maybe just maybe they had "cleaned up their act" - especially given the current health crisis. Unfortunately, nothing had changed. I sent a private message on their facebook page to the owner, and though I could see that someone there read it, I got NO reply and the policy is also unchanged. The owner was there at 6:20 this morning, he looked exhausted and took over 10 minutes to fill my order that was called in 24 hours prior. The store is not clean, as I noticed waiting 10+unnecessary minutes. When I asked how to better have this called in and ready to go...he responded 'I overslept today!' Zero apology. I live in WR, but you made my district meeting delayed due to your lack of hospitality and lack of being a business owner. I will never purchase anything from your establishment again, even my teenager was appalled at your unprofessionalism. You may be the only bagel place in town, but we will drive 10 minutes + and pay extra happily! read more

Had a bagel from here three days ago and it was horrible. Bagel tasted like dirt and the cream cheese tasted off. Took one bite, spit it out and then threw it out. I've been to bagel places all down 25A and this one is the best. I'm a fan of dark crispy bagels with air pockets and this place has them, more often than not. Also the seeds and other toppings are loaded onto the bagels. The vegetable cream cheese actually contains pieces of real, discernable vegetables! Not just specks of green and orange like you see in other cream cheeses. read more

This afternoon at about 12:15, my husband and I entered Bagel Buddies of Wading River to purchase bagels for our family. We live in Virginia, and had come to Wading River to visit my parents. We were excited to get some "New York Bagels" this morning. Upon arriving, we noticed a young girl working behind the counter rub her eyebrow and her cheek with her gloves on, enter a customer's order into the cash register, accept their money, and then go make them a bagel sandwich without changing her gloves. The older woman ahead of us was then waited on, and a middle aged woman named "Minu" working behind the counter took the woman's money, while wearing her gloves, and then without changing her gloves, she straightened the doughnuts on the counter in front of her and then got the older customer's muffin. At this point I said "Excuse me, you just touched money and then touched food." "Minu" immediately became defensive and told me that "It's fine, the health department said I can." I explained to her that money is one of the dirtiest things, and that I'd like her to change her gloves before handling the bagels I wanted to purchase. She continued to be very confrontational and challenged me to call the health department. She walked away from me, did not take my order, and shouted "good luck" as we left the bagel shop. My husband re-entered the bagel shop to get the name of "Minu" which she gave to him before we left. I am concerned for a number of reasons. First, it seemed strange to me that she immediately referenced the Health Department in saying how they "told [her] it was okay" to handle money before touching food. I'm concerned at how confrontational she was as well. I'm disheartened that even after I asked her to change her gloves, she refused, and refused my business. Lastly, it is scary that this store will continue to serve food to people for the rest of the day (since I was told that there is no one on the weekends with whom I can file a complaint). A complaint will be filed first thing tomorrow morning. read more
