They get my order wrong 3 out of 4 times. Its not that hard. Today I asked for something on the side-it was mixed in. And my bagel is missing. The food is fresh and the staff works hard at keeping the line moving. Prices are almost insane especially for what you get. The portions are often masked by things you add like lettuce and tomatoes meanwhile the meat portion are small, cheese is cut thin and while you stand at the register the prices are almost pulled out of the air. Before you know it that extra egg, cheese or acai can double your already ski high cost. I ordered a roast beef with cheese, lettuce and tomato and it was over $12 with no drink or chips! Definitely wasn't worth it. Also after you order you have no clue where to wait. Its not organized in that sense. I'm searching for a more affordable, wallet friendly place. There are too many bagel places out there to not try and get what you pay for. Oh and before I forget the bagels are a bit too chewy and the everything bagel is a crap shoot. Been coming to this bagel shop for years, and it's my go to every week. The mornings, 7-9am, are as you expect, crazy. The line reaches the deli counter with people bunched up a little but the staff keeps it moving at a decent pace pushing orders out. Their sandwiches are something I crave now and then, like the cougar, but as you expect I always go for their bagels that are made fresh everyday!! I love their variety of special cream cheese, specially their jalapeno and the scallion cream cheese. If you're their in the afternoon, about an hour or so before close they have bags of cheap bagels. Worth it if you have a sudden craving for tons of carbs. read more

I ordered lunch from the Bagel Chalet to be delivered to my office. My initial order didn't meet the minimum requirement so they said I had to order something additional. I added more to the order so that I could have it delivered. When the delivery man showed up (over an hour later) there was an additional $8 (which they also taxed) on my bill. I told him that I was advised the delivery was no charge and he said he's just the driver. I felt bad for him because it wasn't his fault but I will never order from them again. I ended up paying the "delivery charge" but I will never ever order from here again. read more

YUM YUM YUM. Visiting from out of state and needed to fill my bagel craving. My friend brought me here (again) and I was not disappointed. Somewhat of a line for a Saturday morning, not terrible though. I had a bacon, egg and cheese on Asiago and a pumpkin bagel with chocolate chip cream cheese since I couldn't decide. Only downside was ringing out then waiting for my breakfast sandwich to be ready. Well worth the wait though! Bagel Chalet has something for everyone. Bagels, sandwiches, salads, grab n go snacks are just a few options. I actually didn't look over the entire menu as it was so vast. I came here twice, once for a bagel breakfast sandwich and once for a panini. They open early and you have your choice of bagels that you can add eggs, meat, and cheese to for an easy breakfast. The panini I got was the mediterranean chicken and came perfectly grilled with chunks of chicken breast. Prices are cheap, I was surprised when the total was around $13 for a panini (that came w/ side salad) and a loaded bagel breakfast sandwich. Super friendly and efficient staff here too. read more

Stopped there this morning for a everything bagel with butter and a coffee. Nearly 6 bucks for a nothing bagel with almost no butter and a poor cup of coffee. People who go here are getting a poor value. Glad I dont live by this store. There were a few little seed crumbs on the bagel. I have gotten this order atleast 10x from here and I always seem to be pleased with the staff and the quality of the food. Best bagels!!! They have a variety of bagels including the egg flagel which is what I usually get. Although I'm not sure why the flagel costs more, and it's smaller than the regular bagel. They also have a variety of cream cheeses. I also order the sandwiches here. Delicious. The breaded chicken cutlet btl in a flagel is the bomb. Although this place is expensive I'm not going to lie. Their pricing is pretty mysterious too. I ordered 2 sandwiches and it mysteriously came out to be $25. Probably added an extra dollar for the bagel being a flagel instead of the regular bagel... But I will never know. I can never seem to figure out how they come up with the numbers. The cash registers are old school and they will not give you a detailed receipts. So other than their pricing downfall, their food is really good. Place is always busy. Long lines . So if you're in a rush - maybe come back another time. read more

The only bagel place on LI i enjoy eating at. I have been coming here for years and I refuse to get bagels from anywhere else. The staff for the most part is very friendly, especially Gilbert! It is usually very busy, what I find is the best way to beat the line is to order while you are in the parking lot. Just walk right up to the front and you're order should be ready in about 10-15 minutes. They have great specials such as the commuter special and the soups always come with a buttered bagel of your choice. Other items such as the salads and sandwiches can get a little pricey, but it's worth it. They also have a wide variety of cream cheeses, pastries, and drinks. There is something for everyone. Place is always clean, they always have someone cleaning the tables once someone gets up. The only complaint I have, which isn't their fault, is that they have regular customers in the morning who order a cup of coffee and, dare I say, bogart the seats for a few hours. Just very annoying if you want to sit and relax before heading out. Bottom line, great place for bagels and pretty much everything else they make. Call ahead if you want to beat the morning, Saturday and Sunday busy times. read more

This is the BEST bagel place I have ever been to. Having grown up on Long Island I have eaten many bagels and at many bagel shops. Bagel Chalet has the best bagels - even low carb bagels. And they also have the best service. No matter how long the line on a Saturday or Sunday morning - it moves and it moves quickly. All the guys behind the counter are very helpful, friendly and always have a smile. The egg salad is the best I have ever had followed by the honey mustard chicken salad. The roasted cauliflower is fantastic. My husband loves the paninis and their baked goods. Now that I am not living in the area full time I really miss this place a lot. Bagel Chalet on Long Island has the best bagels. I can't wait to come back home and get some more to take out west. Love you guys!! read more

We tried this place because we heard great things about it. However, we weren't very impressed. It's not better than our usual bagel spot "The Everything Bagel Commack." The service is good, but the bagels are very, very small AND more expensive than those at our usual place--$1.50 for a bagel at Bagel Chalet versus $1.00 at The Everything Bagel. I am on a hunt for the best bagel place in Western Suffolk and Bagel Chalet is in my top 5 so far. Bagels are chewy and have a good texture. Cream cheese, salad, and sandwich selections are varied and fresh. Had the "Rachel" sandwich pressed on a pita and really enjoyed it. Cole slaw and potato salad were also tasty and the iced tea tastes of actual tea! It's a touch too far from me to be a real regular place but I would definitely be back. read more

i ordered an egg sandwich and bottle of water. i asked how much it was gonna be .. i was told 10.00 plus tax. the delivery man asked for 20.00 for the total bill without tip. they added a 7. 00 delivery charge ... so it cost me 20.00 for and egg sandwich and water.. they never mentioned a del charge.. I work for a company that employs 50 people . this was the second time this has happened. we called to complain about added charges to the bill without prior knowledge.. we will never buy here again .. stay away ! These might be the best bagels on Long Island. Even though the line reaches the door most weekend mornings, it's WORTH it. I love the plain, the asiago cheese bagel (a bagel covered in a layer of asiago -- it's life changing), the multigrain and the whole wheat. We usually just get the bagels whole, with nothing on them. And if you get a chance check out the prices of the salads etc. Its worth a look just to laugh at the ridiculous prices. $10 per pound for roasted carrots. Too funny.
