It felt like being transported to old Italy with a table at the corner composed of ex-mobsters, planning their next deal. Loved it. How? I came in here at a little past 12NN on a Saturday. I was passing time in between appointments in the area. I walked in to find a nice gentleman with a strong Italo-American accent, behind the counter. No doubt the owner. I ordered a garlic bagel with bacon chive cream cheese. Delicious. In the corner was a table of older gentlemen having a great time chatting about politics and more--all with thick, adorable Italian-American accents. Regulars. Very familiar with the owner. Loved listening in on their banter and pleasant arguments. I enjoyed the bagel, the no-nonsense service, the camaraderie I experienced. Definitely a place that I can drop in to regularly when I am in the area. read more

Wow, these bagels are awesome! We had only the spinach bagel (sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich), but this is the best bagel we have had in RI. It's a small spot and there is a bit of a wait, so I wouldn't recommend coming here when you're in a jam, but it's worth it if you can wait. read more

The bagels are very good, that is true. Not NYC good but very good for RI. Place is best if you just go in for a bagel to have then and there. I wanted a large order for a brunch and had to call several times before anyone answered. Finally I was able to put an order in a few days ahead. The morning of the brunch, I knew to go early since you never know. Sure enough, the staff on duty had no clue what I was talking about. They never got the message about the order. They managed to get everything together but it was more stressful for everyone since they had their morning rush as well. The other funny thing was that I had asked for the bagels to be sliced into quarters, meaning once in half through the side/circle and once in half through the middle/diameter. It didn't hit me until days later wondering why the pieces were so small and annoying-- that she had cut them once in half through the circle of the bagel, and then into quarters from the top! So every bagel was in 8ths actually. So overall, cute little place to grab a bagel and coffee but may be a little clueless about larger catering requests. read more

a wise man once said, "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." well I'm definitely crying that this bagel is over because it was absolutely delicious. i got the everything bagel with lox spread and ate it outside while i wrote and enjoyed some people-watching and cool weather. i absolutely love that the everything bagel had seasoning all over instead of just on top, because it made the entire experience that much more flavorful and enjoyable. i couldn't believe how the sesame seeds got so much flavor just from getting contact with the pan like that! and imagine my absolute JOY when i realized that there were literal pieces of smoked salmon mixed in with the cream cheese.....gosh it was such a beautiful experience. i will be thinking about this bagel for years to come. read more

Bagel express has the best bagels in Providence, and this satellite location delivers excellent daily fresh bagels to PVD. Every morning the owner delivers freshly boiled bagels down to this location for sale, and everything is fresh and perfect. The only negative thing I could think to say, is that the breakfast sandwiches themselves aren't great, but if you're looking for a bagel with lox or cream cheese, can't find better in the city. I'm here far too often. But I can't stay away. I dream about their cinnamon raisin bagels. read more

The good: toppings on both sides of the bagel, with a bit of corn meal on the bottom. Adequate selection of bagel varieties, and a lox sandwich on the menu. "Tank" sized, 32 ounce iced coffee at a reasonable price - decent coffee with milk and cream on the counter, with a sign that soy or almond milk are available on request. It's a teeny place with a few tables inside and out. Feels more take-away than eat in. The meh: doughy bagels that have a little hardness to the outside, but that clearly aren't boiled. They're fine - just nothing to write home about, and nowhere near a NY bagel. Only bagels and sandwiches, no platters or open-faced bagels and lox the way we were trained to eat this! Very slow service on a quiet Sunday morning; I can only imagine how long it might take to pick something during weekday rush hours. read more

The counter staff was helpful, and cheerful; and made suggestions as to what to order. Stopped into check it out. I'm always on the lookout for bagel places, especially when Providence is a bit lacking in that department. The place is super small. There's a bunch of bistro-esque tables and chairs and a counter where you order. The coffee selection seems to be limited to hot or iced coffee so far. The coffee was tasty and there's cream, milk, and sugar for it at the coffee island (is that what you call it?). No soy/almond at this point, though. For bagels, you have the standard selection of bagel flavors (plain, poppy, sesame, everything, cinnamon raisin, blueberry, etc.). The bagels are big-ish, but not as big as an NYC bagel (e.g. the size of your face). For spreads, you can choose between cream cheese, flavored cream cheese, butter, and lox +cream cheese. I had a buttered everything bagel. It was good, but a little breadier than I was expecting (kind of like a roll). For now 3.5 stars. I'd love to try the breakfast sandwiches they make. read more

What makes this place even better is that Mike and Mary who work there give off the best vibes , especially for being there so early morning. If I could give negative stars for the food I would. I tried giving this place another try because it's a few blocks over from where I live but I've been disappointed. For a breakfast sandwich I didn't think a microwave would be needed since making eggs is done in minutes. I came to work eager to have my sandwich anyway because I'm hungry and love bagels and the eggs have black spots. This is really unappetizing, and I'm glad I looked at it instead of going straight in for a bite and messing up my stomach for the rest of the day. Not to mention my whole meal of egg and cheese, bagel w CC, and large coffee was $12. Just moved back to the neighborhood used to stop here on my way to school. This place is still amazing. The iced coffee is perfect especially with the flavors that are brewed. Experience: I was really excited about a bagel spot. I took a walk over there with my wife and dog. We walked in and the cashier was helping people before us. Even though we were the only people left she went home before taking our order. Then we order a bacon egg and cheese on plain and a lox all the way. While that is working we think we should buy some cream cheese and extra bagels for the next couple of days. We asked about cream cheese and they first say they don't sell more than single servings but then find a container. Without asking she assumed we want plain and then gets irritable when we clarify that we actually wanted scallion. I honestly felt like I was bothering them by ordering food. The vibe was just uncomfortable. Then I found out they are connected to the North Smithfield one where I was reminded that the bagel with lox all the way was $10 everytime I order it in a tone that made me feel as though they felt I couldn't afford it. At least that didn't happen here. The food: Bagel with cream cheese and lox all the way- I asked for veggie got plain, but it was pretty good. Nothing special but no complaints. Bacon egg and cheese on a plain- The bagel itself was good, but the eggs had no flavor, I'm pretty sure it was microwave bacon and it was just not good. I didn't even finish it. Bagel express used to be my go to bagel place. Ever since these two young guys started working there, the bagels I get are not good. Twice I've asked for extra cream cheese, and both times they put on a thin film of cream cheese instead of the heaping amount that's typical of any other bagel place. What I'm left with is a dry bagel that leaves me wanting to go to Dunkin. Owners- please do some quality control. Customers shouldn't have to modify their orders based on which employees are working. read more
