Great coffee to jumpstart the morning
    Rich Y.

Was in the area on a Saturday morning and needed something to start my day. Looked on Yelp and found this gem. Tiny little place, maybe 5-6 tables at the most. Nice selection of bagels and cream cheeses. GREAT coffee to begin the morning. Staff was very nice and helpful! A solid spot in a great neighborhood.

Perfect spot in Providence for a lox sandwich! Owners are so talkative and welcoming!

This place is a hidden gem in Providence. Bagels are homemade and have great sandwich options, including veggie friendly. Service is steady but has a small staff. Hole in the wall ambiance, with great music. It's part of the best of RI.

Sausage egg and cheese on a spinach bagel - delicious!

Wow, these bagels are awesome! We had only the spinach bagel (sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich), but this is the best bagel we have had in RI. It's a small spot and there is a bit of a wait, so I wouldn't recommend coming here when you're in a jam, but it's worth it if you can wait.

Bagel Express is a Federal Hill classic. Get your fix of snickerdoodle coffee, an everything bagel sandwich, and the joy of listening to the old Italian men talking out front all in one convenient location. I highly recommend this joint for mornings when you feel like the main character. Sometimes there's this older woman at the counter who I have to repeat my order to like 7 times because she never writes it down, but if you're not in a rush it can be kind of charming in a way.

a wise man once said, "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." well I'm definitely crying that this bagel is over because it was absolutely delicious. i got the everything bagel with lox spread and ate it outside while i wrote and enjoyed some people-watching and cool weather. i absolutely love that the everything bagel had seasoning all over instead of just on top, because it made the entire experience that much more flavorful and enjoyable. i couldn't believe how the sesame seeds got so much flavor just from getting contact with the pan like that! and imagine my absolute JOY when i realized that there were literal pieces of smoked salmon mixed in with the cream cheese.....gosh it was such a beautiful experience. i will be thinking about this bagel for years to come.

Nice little shop on Broadway with solid food and a slight need for more employees For a full review on their everything bagel check out this video: https://youtu.be/qXC_FUgkSSw

Coffee flavors are brewed and not flavor shots which is great! Though this also means not all flavors may be available. The bagels are huge, fluffy, and delicious - making for very filling sandwiches! Cooked just right! Prices are good! Seriously looks like a whole in the wall (we even drove past it once) - but so worth a visit!! PS - the dog treat is a slice of bacon

Sausage [on one side], double [spongey] egg, and cheese?
    Matthew C.

Bagel was ok. Eggs were spongey and fake-ish. Sausage on one side of the sandwich. Everything was mixed together as opposed to layered. Sausage, double egg, and cheese for $7+ .... pricey.

This isn't a bagel place. I went here looking forward to eating a "real" bagel. The people are nice though. Change the name

Delicious, crispy, toasted bagels with generous toppings. Loved my spinach bagel with Nova Lox. Such a gem.

Loved the atmosphere and the place was spotless. One of the waitresses seated us asked us if we'd like a drink and pickles with coleslaw. We said yes pickles were great. Coleslaw was very vinegary. Was not a fan of that. We both ordered half a pound of pastrami sandwiches with Swiss cheese and mustard. The pastrami was very lean and sliced very thin and that was good. But I found the pastrami lacking in flavor. I think I was expecting pastrami like they sell at Katz's deli or the old now closed Carnegie's in New York. Would come back to try other things.

I really wanted to like Maven's. With all the hype surrounding this place, I expected something…read morespecial. After several visits, though, I'd describe it with one word: meh. To be clear, the food isn't bad. It's perfectly edible. The problem is that it's also remarkably average, especially considering the prices they're charging. Nothing I've ordered has made me think, "I can't wait to come back for that." It's just...fine. We actually visited during opening weekend, and it was a bit of a mess. They ran out of pastrami, which is a pretty big problem for a deli that was generating so much excitement. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because opening weekends can be chaotic. Since then, we've been back several times hoping things would improve, but the experience has been largely the same. The biggest issue, aside from the food being average, is the service. It's consistently slow. I can understand waiting when a restaurant is packed, but we've experienced long waits even when there were very few customers inside. It feels like everything moves at half speed, and that's been true on multiple visits. I also think they're trying a little too hard to be Katz's Delicatessen. That's an incredibly high bar, and instead of trying to recreate that experience, I'd rather see them focus on becoming the best version of themselves. Right now, it feels like the ambition exceeds the execution. The one thing I will gladly compliment is the bagels. They've been excellent every time we've ordered them, and honestly, they're probably the strongest item on the menu. I do think there's plenty of room for improvement, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. There's clearly potential here, and I genuinely hope they find their footing because I'd love to have another great deli in the area. We'll probably give them another chance down the road, and I hope I can come back and update this review with a much more positive experience.

The snow made street parking a bit tricky, but thankfully there are a few parking spaces in the back of the building. Once inside, the bakery was lively and smelled absolutely delicious. There was a great selection of fresh artisan breads to choose from. I ended up with the durum loaf, which was perfect since I planned to make an olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was exactly what I hoped for crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, airy with a mix of large and small holes, and full of flavor. I also couldn't resist picking up two Valentine heart sugar cookies with jam because they were just too cute. The only minor downside was that the employee who helped me wasn't very smiley. Not rude at all, and my order was handled quickly, but it felt a bit different from the warm cafe vibe you might expect. Prices are higher than if you went to a mom and pop bakery but this was expected. Overall, a great stop for quality bread.

The shop was dated and cluttered with pictures and knick knacks and I don't think we got the best snapshot of this established and well loved neighborhood spot (based on others reviews) so I think we'll have to give them another try sometime in the future to see if the experience is better.
