As a transplant from NY, one of 2 greatest woes concerning food are the quality of bagels. The farther from the metropolitan area you get, there is a noticeable decline in quality- Goldberg's in Southampton notwithstanding. I have been out of NY for just over 2 years, and have been coming here for as long. Everything is done right. I bump into a lot of other NY-ex-pats here and we all talk about the various positive elements. Parking sucks if you come when it's busy. Bring a mate to jockey around while one gets in line. It moves fast. No service issues ever. No wrong orders either. The bagels are the correct size with the correct ratio of fluff, chew, and crunch. Flavours match expectations. As long as they're in business, I will trek the 30 minutes or so southeast it takes to get here. read more

Best bagels around... My wife and I never fully understood why there weren't good bagels near here since we moved into the area in 2019. You can honestly see why their bagels are superior as they are dedicated to the food. I wish the pizzerias around here would follow their lead and make pizza great in this area again. The best bagels around, sure you can get good ones at a couple places nearby but the it's so worth it. There's always a line, always a wait but I do it quite often to get these bagels! Crispy outside, soft inside-don't wait to try this place. Parking is kind of a pain but there is an extra parking lot on the street in the back if you can't get a spot up front. Best bagels in Warren County hands down. Great sandwiches and other pastries too! Only downside is they can get a tad busy and chaotic at times (downside of being the best I suppose) and their parking lot is quite small. Great bagels!! Unfortunately I have to take one star away for the service and efficiency. My husband waited outside for 15 min for food that we called ahead for- only to find out once he got inside that there is a pick up section in the back. Signage outside would be helpful as it does get busy. Additionally, my husband said some of the staff is very young- I'm all about a family business but just make sure they are trained properly and can keep up with the weekend rush. Parking is an issue but willing to deal with that for these bagels- just needs some improvements. read more

I usually love this place and the bagels are delicious - and yes that's a beautiful sandwich. But I opened my sandwich to find mayo all over it. I have a huge aversion to it. Why would they add mayo to a sandwich, when it's not listed on the menu? Every sandwich clearly states what's on it. I'm not close enough to run back, so I'm pissed I just threw away $9.50. I also wanted to surprise my 10 yr old daughter with rainbow bagels and dug to the bottom of my bag to find 2 cinnamon raisin instead. My bad for not literally opening everything I ordered to ensure it's correct. Next time I'll do it at the counter and hold up the line when you hand me the bag. Bagel House has answered our prayers for 1/2... These bagels... Holy bananas... AMAZING! My favorite is the everything flagel, so good. Plain, onion, sesame,... whatever - no matter your flavor, it's gonna be good! They also have some great lox & schmears to choose from. Chocolate-almond croissant, yes please. Bacon, egg, & cheese... on point. Tried Manhattan bagel... sounded promising but fell flat. Bagel Shack... nope. But Bagel House? Ding ding ding. We have a winner!! If I was rating bagels alone, I'd give 5 stars. There isn't another bagel place in the area that are even remotely close to making the quality of bagel that this place makes. However, the parking is terrible and the whole ordering process is even worse. This place will probably not last if they don't figure out how to run a business. The first thing you notice is how what is happening behind the counter can only be described as complete chaos. If there was some type of system in place, people wouldn't be waiting 20 and 30 minutes to receive their order. Or better yet, have there order forgotten to be made completely. They serve a fine roll, but neither the taste nor the texture resembles a bagel. Ours were soft and mushy. It's a truism that bagels should be firm and chewy enough for a baby to safely teethe on. We don't expect NYC bagels in Warren County, and maybe it's really true that the water in Brooklyn is what makes those bagels special, but these are not bagels. My family and I had the egg and cheese on our choice of bagel ( we got them toasted) and they were heavenly! I (only coffee drinker in the fam) tried a medium coffee and it was also amazing. Not only was there caffeine in it ( so I did not have to buy 2 or 3 cups like at Wawa, sheets and Dunkin ), it was also so good, I did not add sugar and just put a small amount of half and half. I have been a customer at the Bagel House on Route 22 since it opened. Having lived and worked in New York City has given me an appreciation for, among other foods, quality fresh bagels. When we moved from the city I did not buy "Jersey" bagels for years because my job had me in the city a few days a week so there was no need. When I stopped into The Bagel House, when it opened for business, on a whim, I was surprised by the quality of the "Jersey," product. A little "crunch" outside and soft and warm inside... And BIG... My wife, a born and raised Brooklyn native, is on-board with these bagels, too. She has also taken a liking to the muffins. I have permission to bring home any type of muffin that is available in the shop. She never asks for Brooklyn made bagels anymore. This, from a woman that would rather I bring Brooklyn pizza home to reheat the next day instead of calling for a fresh, local pizza. I am not kidding... OK, OK, the shop is a little small and parking can be tight. Go to the traffic light and make two right turns and park around back. There is a handicap space out front and the shop is accessible. Even on busy weekday mornings there is plenty of staff working on orders to keep things moving along at a nice pace. The Phillipsburg Route 22 shopping area is now a full-fledged franchise jungle of junk food options. This shop is privately owned by a hard-working guy with a wife and kids. The owner has made ongoing upgrades and improvements to the store since its inception and he has developed a somewhat consistent staff that is pleasant and courteous. I have, on several occasions, stopped by after hours, on the chance that I can pick up some bagels, sometimes forty minutes after closing. Of course, the bagel selection is limited but what impresses me is the number of employees performing their specific cleaning duties. The place is immaculately clean. So, yes, I bring The Bagel House bagels to New York sometimes and I tell my friends and co-workers that I have found a little, out-of-the-way, artesian bagel shop in New Jersey, of all places. They love the product and all support the belief that the proprietor must be importing his bagel recipe water from New York City to be able to make such a fine product. We have been here twice and each time I'm confused on why this place gets high reviews. Other than the bagels being covered in toppings the bagel itself is lacking. I grew up in Ny and these are nothing like the bagels we got in Brooklyn. The bialys aren't true bialys and they are more like an onion hard roll that went flat. Lox and Cream cheese were fresh. Coffee was a little burnt, but not bad. Big downside was the wait. They only have 1 cash register. This needs to be addressed asap for me to go back on a weekend. The Bagel House proves one thing. If you create a great product, people will come. Instead of being like every other average bagel place in the area, bagel house is amazing. Every bagel is freshly made. No need to toast them as they are crunchy on the outside and perfectly fluffy inside. Despite being in a town where many restaurants have gone out of business or are struggling, the line of customers is out the door all day. It is worth the wait. In addition to the bagels we got 2 different cream cheeses, the whitefish salad and some lox. Everything was a 10. Also, get a French toast bagel for the kids (or yourself). read more

I dont NOT like the esu**** NY doughy bagels, what happen NYC? This small place located in Phillipsburg or near on route 22 sees to have accomphished the incredible and impossible. They make a bagel that has it all and is sooo goood with some butter and cream cheese. The bagel compliments them. The coffee keep trying you will get it right, but I will let them go on the coffee for the star of the east coast the bagel. Oh one more thing put a sign up to park in the REAR , lots of people coming to the place now. Don't let your customer's hang on the edge of the parking lot and new customers pass you by.
