A year ago, while taking a real estate course in this strip mall where Bagel Hut is located, I had my Service Dog with me. Of note, during the real estate class, my dog was well-behaved, no issues. The only place to go for lunch during the half hour that we were given was Bagel Hut. When I tried to enter with my Service Dog, who was wearing his vest identifying him as such, the owner told us we could not come in. This is ILLEGAL, and I told him that denying me service because I have a SD with me is illegal. He told me that he had to consider his other customers who might not like dogs first, over my needs, which is ILLEGAL. They asked me for SD identification, which I do have and carry - but it is ILLEGAL for a business to ask a SD owner to show identification. Doing so violates privacy laws. I showed them my dog's identification anyway, and they STILL would not allow me in without giving me a problem and an argument. Finally, I had to drop the real estate course because I had nowhere to go for lunch for such a short lunch time allotted to us. I sent a complaint to the DOJ (Department of Justice) which usually handles discrimination of people with SDs. Months later I got a letter back from the DOJ telling me that they are backlogged and so can not investigate the complaint. I am writing this after finding out I have no remedy for this business's discrimination of me. If you support people with silent disabilities and/or know someone who needs a Service Dog (SD), you might want to give this business a piece of your mind to help out others like me and try to educate an owner who seems to be adamantly ineducable. read more

I grew up in Brooklyn and came to Monmouth County 17 years ago. When I found Bagel Hut which luckily is close to my house, I was extremely happy. Taste like bagels I used to get in Brooklyn. Love them. Owner is a very nice person. I see him there all the time. I buy them every week, eat some, freeze some and warm them up in the toaster oven (low temp) and they are like freshly baked. Here's my take , I'm not over zealous about any of the bagel shops in this area but let's be honest we are in NJ, pretty much all the bagels taste great if you have lived any where else in the country. There's about 2-3 other bagel shops closer to my home but I travel to this one. I like the bagels, muffins and atmosphere the best. The staff is hit or miss. There's usually a woman of possibly European descent who works the counter who is somewhat friendly. There's a gentleman ( perhaps husband ) who appears of the same descent and is much friendlier and seems to have a great attitude and lots of pride in his work but I've only seen him a few times. Sometimes the main worker ( spanish descent ) runs the counter and she is very rude. Overall although not completely satisfied I choose this bagel shop over all the others. read more

After months and months of eating at Bagel Hut I feel I need to add a review. These bagels are delicious! My favorite is the spinach and it is a must try. They have completed a much needed renovation to expand the store. Now you can go in and sit down to enjoy a cup of coffee and a sandwich. I look forward to trying their lunch special which start at 3.99 and included a can of soda and a bag of chips (great deal). With that said, I must warn you that you will not get the friendliest service. The counter girls have a "roll out of bed" look, and they hate to smile. Also, if you take your food to-go, grab yourself napkins because the "hospitable" counter girls hate to give them to you. If you are looking for great bagels, then this is the place! From the one's who don't speak english .... and the family members who have worked there for years , there is a high level of incompetence , they constantly give you the wrong items prepared different then you ordered them , We have been going here for years , but the last 5 or 6 times something is screwed up , today we watched them grab the wrong bagel after being told what to make , but we didn't watch close enough , they used the wrong cream cheese . this is a no win and has continued getting worse , with the family so involved in the staff they shouldn't be having issues like this . read more

If I could give no stars to this place would be good but unfortunately I have to hit the one star. The sad part about it is that it has nothing to do with the bagels, BUT strictly because of the personnel! Especially one particular girl who seems to do a lot of the breakfast sandwiches aka wears glasses. She was extremely rude and unapologetic when I called in an egg sandwich with bacon, ham and cheese over the phone. When I picked up my sandwich and brought it home it was just a plain old egg sandwich. I had to go back in my car and bring it back and explain that it was not what I ordered. The girl was so rude and said that's not what she heard on he phone, instead of having good customer service and saying she was sorry and that she would get me the right one, she gave me BIG ATTITUDE as of it was my fault. On top of that I had to pay an extra $8 dollars because I originally paid just for an egg sandwich and to boot they gave me the same egg sandwich and just added the meat and cheese. And to finish it all I had put a tip in their tip jar and said HAPPY NEW YEAR prior to it and not even a thank you! I will never go there again and will go out of my way to go somewhere else even though it's literally down the road from me! The Bagel Hut has the best bagels around, by a land slide. They make all of the bagels fresh that morning and make their own delicious cream cheeses. The Bagel Hut also has a handful of Boars Head deli meats to make awesome sandwiches. The coffee and desert pastries are decent, and the atmosphere is a little cluttered and unorganized, but what you come for here is the amazing bagels and sandwiches. About 80% of the times I have ordered food from them, they seem to always mess something up. When we called back to let them know the older Spanish woman who answered was rude and very unprofessional. She argued back saying she wasn't going to fix the mistake because it wasn't their fault (it was their mistake). After 10 minutes of going back and forth with me she said she would make us another sandwich. I asked to speak with manager but he was unavailable. When I arrived, I spoke with the manager and he was just as rude and unprofessional. Where is the customer service?! I am in the business of customer service and if I would have treated any of my customer the way they did I would've been standing in the unemployment line. The owner said it was our fault and that he heard the whole order being taken because it was on speaker (that was a lie because you can hear when a phone is on speaker). He stated he would always have his employees back over any customer. I guess the customer is always wrong in their establishment. I have a few friends that have also went to this establishment and they have all said that the owner and woman are very rude. I will never return and support a bad business. The owner and woman need a few classes in customer service. read more
