    Hazelnut Latte and Especial!
    Braden B.

Checked this place out during their soft launch. Was super excited to see them coming to town and bringing some Peruvian Culture with it. Their Hazelnut soy latte was super good. Husband loved his especial drink. Definite will be coming back. Super affordable and a welcoming atmosphere. Two owners are super nice!

The building itself looks almost like an old diner--long and brightly colored. Inside is more of the same. There are a couple of round tables with diner-esque stools and a few chairs randomly placed in the center of the seating area. All of it contributes to a kind of endearing quality of the place. I was greeted with a friendly smile by who I believe is the owner. I opted for a small coffee and a biscotti, as I wanted something that wasn't too sweet. The coffee is self-serve, which I'm not a huge fan of as sometimes they aren't as fresh, but management seems to take care of this. My orange almond biscotti, while I was happy to be able to taste the hints of orange, was stale. Prices were fair, as my coffee and the biscotti were each $2. It's a bit chilly in the cafe and a little loud with the music but I was still able to get some work done. If it were a bit closer to home, I think I would frequent this cafe a little more, but I wish the owner all the success!

Chef Burke helped elevate Dixie Lee and we all get the benefits. Each and every offering is top notch! The use the best ingredients and make everything from scratch. The must haves for me are the jelly donuts and the black and white cookies. The buns rolls and breads cannot be matched. The cookies and cakes are phenomenal. This is a walk up counter place only no tables to snack at but it is always bright clean and welcoming. Long live Dixie Lee!!! Get in there and grab some goodies!

I ordered two hard rolls . They looked great. Got home and just now was going to make lunch with them. I have to say so disappointed. I asked for two "hard" rolls and boy did I get them. They were more like day old hard rolls . Instead of being crispy they were rotted it seemed. Completely fell apart, crumbled at touch . No crunch or crispiness and my fingers pushed thru the outside surfaces like going into cardboard. Crumbled and felt so stale under these circumstances had to be at the minimum day old left out dried up rolls. I had heard they went down a bit down the "old" Dixie Lee, but this was embarrassing. Sorry David Burke, I expected so much more from you... I learned my lesson today.. off to J&M where I should have gone to begin with. And it's a shame. 3 yrs ago I was a fan. Not any more...

The weather was gorgeous so we were able to sit outside, and luckily we got seated right away even without a reservation. My husband and I usually go the route of splitting the breakfast combo, so we get a sweet and savory item (and the bill is lower than if we each got our own entrees). We got the breakfast combo and just added a side of sourdough toast and avocado. Only $2 charge for the avocado side which was nice! Everything was decent, but I've definitely had better brunch in the area, which is why it's 4 stars instead of 5.

The service is quick, attentive, and on point. We ordered various items: Coffee - Unlimited and delicious -- 4/5 stars. Shashuka - It was so scrumptious, one of us accidentally dropped the phone into the dish. Talk about the camera eats first! Lots of laughs. --4/5 stars Grande Huevos Rancheros -- Quite tasty but this one needed more fillings, as per my friend. She was disappointed with this dish. --3/5 stars Avocado Smashed Benny -- Excellent but my friend wished they had bigger slices of avocado. She indicated the avocados were too thin for her liking. 4/5 stars. Smoked Salmon Benny -- This was my dish. It was scrumptious but I personally think this dish would do better if it was served on nicely toasted Ciabatta bread instead of an English muffin. Please note, this is a personal preference. -- 4.5/5 stars What I appreciated most is how it was extremely busy so we were seated at the bar. Not once did we feel rushed and we had a great time catching up. The decor almost always has a holiday themed which makes it feel festive.
