Great bagel shop! The inside is really nice; its covered in wood and succulents (a hipster's paradise). I ordered the post thanksgiving on a toasted wheat bagel and we also got the spicy chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger with fries. The turkey bagel had cranberry sauce, sprouts, and tomatoes as well and was very nicely balanced in flavor with sweetness from the cranberry complimenting the savory turkey. The actual bagels are fresh and have a crisp exterior with a chewy inside. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and we were all glad we found this place to stop for lunch! I stopped here for breakfast to take on the go before heading to 17 mile drive (which I highly recommend doing). The shop is clean and very nicely decorated, and the employees were all really friendly. I had the Big Sur sandwich while my boyfriend had the lox sandwich. Of the two, I definitely preferred the lox sandwich. The Big Sur sandwich was lacking flavor and had way too many sprouts. The bagels seemed fresh and were good but not memorable. However, overall this place was decently priced and (although I was just visiting the area) probably one of the better bagel options in the Carmel/Pacific Grove area! read more

Came here around 9:30am. Not that busy but takes a while to take your order and make your food. The bagels here were very tasty. We ordered the smoked salmon lox and the egg bacon breakfast bagel. The lox was a bit difficult to eat since it was messy and the toppings kept getting pushed out when you bite into it. But that didn't matter to me. The breafkast bagel came out steaming hot! We came here on a breakfast pit stop and saw that it had good reviews. I had the East Coast Morning and my boyfriend ordered the Heart Attack. Both bagel sandwiches were really good and loaded with filling. We also ordered an Americano and an iced chai-- the chai was really sweet and too milky and ended up tasting more like the milk after eating cinnamon toast crunch. The service was decent but could definitely be more organized. There is no set place to order your food or drinks so most of the customers just ended up standing around trying to get the attention of one of the workers. On another note, the restroom was not kept clean and smelled like an unkempt public beach bathroom. There was no paper towels and no toilet paper on the roll and the toilet was really gross. If you're craving bagel sandwiches I recommend this place just maybe don't stay to use the bathrooms. read more

I used to live on Ransford Avenue behind the building and smell the bagels baking when this was the Bagel Bakery. What a heavenly scent. I'd stop in for coffee and a toasted plain bagel with Swiss Cheese. That was a common breakfast of mine while I lived in the area in the late 1990s. My last visit there was in 2011. I was back in the area last week and stopped in for my last meal in the area. It's now the Bagel Kitchen with some improvements inside. The lines are still slow, though, and now the bagels have gotten smaller! I sat inside working with the free wifi while eating my meal. So I'm docking a star since one doesn't get as much as before. My fiancé and I have continued supporting this local business since it's grand opening and we're happily surprised to see they remained opened for takeout and delivery service during the pandemic. Today (Saturday) was unfortunately busier than most days with a line out the door and patrons inside waiting for their order. Luckily, we've learned ordering 15 minutes ahead for takeout via phone (like we do for every restaurant nowadays) is the most efficient way to avoid waiting in long lines surrounded by people who do not practice safe social distancing and face masks. Here's a couple suggestions about this place: - they take time in making their bagel sandwiches with quality fresh foods, so order 10-20mins ahead! - they are also adjusting to the new local protocols, so please show kindness and patience to their employees - weekends are extremely busy, so plan accordingly read more

I ordered food, the gal said she would bring it right out. I went to my table and waited, and finally asked when my bagel would come out. She responded that she called my order out awhile ago, and said that my order was in this little nook for a while. I didn't realize that is where the orders came out. I was actually sitting right there, but didn't hear her. She could have called again, or made some sort of effort for me to get my bagel. She was chatting with someone she appeared to know, and was just so nonchalant that I had been waiting for my food, and now it was cold. With each bite I needed water to wash down my cold bagel. So inefficient, it's a good thing Henry Ford has been dead a long time, because the system (or utter lack thereof) for bagel sandwich assembly at this place probably would have killed him. And dying over bagel-sandwich-making inefficiencies would be silly. So there are as many bagel artists (ar-teests?) as there are customers (which says something, since they ran a pretty robust business on the Sunday morning we went). Yet somehow, we ended up waiting in hungover, desperately-seeking-carbs purgatory for an interminable period, watching other customers come and go with their delicious carb loads. Time stood still. It wasn't fair. And don't even get me started on our attempt to procure coffee, which required a strategic pivot that would make BP's circa 2010 marketing team stand in awe. When we finally got our overstuffed bagel sandwiches, they were super tasty and hangover-evaporating, with one caveat: I am a vegan, and as such had ordered the vegan spread (3x!), but I wasn't 100% confident that was what I got (I mean, the bagel artist kid asking for confirmation three times was the main source of my concern. But it also just didn't taste like any vegan cheese facsimile I'm familiar with--and trust, I am more familiar with the vegan cheese landscape than I am with some of my own extended family). But based on the maneuvering it took to just get the bagel from conception to my mouth, I knew investigating that would never yield a coherent answer...so I ate it anyway, in good faith. Moral(s) of the story: don't come here on a time crunch; probably don't attempt a custom order; and if you're vegan, order the hummus. read more

The wall of succulents add a sense of modern charm to this bagel place. When you first walk in, you follow the sign to order your food. They have a wide variety of bagels and spreads as well as breakfast sandwiches. I decided to order the chorizo breakfast bagel with a jalapeño cheddar bagel (because why not?). The chorizo wasn't too greasy and anything with avocado is amazing right? I washed my bagel sandwich down with a latte and was a happy camper. This place is clean, food is tasty, and everyone was friendly and smiling. They have regular coffee and espresso drinks. Good stop if you're looking for breakfast. I was a bit thrown off by how thin they were, but boy was I proven wrong. With plenty of seating, and great prices - this place is a great pit stop before heading to Carmel if you're coming from PG or Monterey. My only critique would be their use of a massive tub of whipped Philadelphia cream cheese on their bagels - seemed a bit inauthentic but definitely didn't ruin the experience by a long shot! How in the world can you charge $8 for a little bagel with cream cheese? I'm blown away. Last time! I will have to say that the service was better than the time before I came here. Thus the two stars. UPDATE: Ridiculous reply from owner. You want to insult me now? Go for it! I'm a very vocal local! CLEARLY, I was overcharged then Einstein! Why not address that???
