And a free refill! - Smoked salmon Benedict: I love how they make this on a croissant instead of an English muffin. This was delicious. With the side of potatoes, I was able to share this with another person - Crab cake Benedict: someone in my group got this both days because it was good - Chilaquiles: this dish was one of the specials. Wanted to come here for breakfast but unfortunately we were a bit to late so we sat for lunch instead. This is a cozy restaurant with a small indoor sitting room and seating outside in a covered porch area. We sat outside and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waitress was wonderful and she had a big beautiful smile C-: I ordered a cheeseburger "med rare" with cheddar cheese and it came with fries. The burger came nicely cooked at med rare and was actually pretty good except some of the bites I took had a heavy handed wasabi flavor. "Wasn't liking that at all" overall 2 stars for taste. Wifey ordered a portobello mushroom sandwich and a double shot of espresso coffee. Both the coffee and portobello mushroom sandwich or excellent "5 stars" overall I might come back for the portobello mushroom sandwich for lunch, but definitely not to Berger. The metropolitan bay area is known for the world-class food and renowned cuisines, but we have so much to learn from a quaint and unassuming cafe in a small coastal town. It felt like I was having Christmas morning at my really rich but super down-to-earth aunt's lake house who is married to the senator of vermont and im in the running as her favorite niece. Croissant, crabcake, poached egg, hollandaise, added avocados, comes with potatoes on the side. The croissant was a welcomed substitute, crabcakes light, hollandaise warm and classic. The crossaint was still warm and flakey, didnt get soggy by the sauces. the crabcake fresh, light, and unbattered. the potatoes were sweet, al-dente, and seasoned to perfection. No notes! - Crabcake to share: just extra crabcakes here but it also comes with a beautiful salad that was thoughtfully complimentary. Crisp and young greens topped with feta, caramelized onions, and dressed with a light vinaigrette that wasn't tart. The salad really changed what i thought a side salad can be. yom. - Fresh squeezed orange juice: Not too sweet, not a tinge of sour, flavorful, light but not watery, not pulpy, and a generous portion. Definitely made my morning. - Cappuccino: Very full-bodied, foamy, not too sweet. Though I personally would perfer a touch more sweetness but a very personal preference and would like simple syrup to adjust. Perfect for my partner who ordered it and is watching his glucose level. Compared to the Bay Area's over-the-top fusion brunches and long waitlists of bottomless lychee mimosas, the Red House Cafe's attention to detail and commitment to quality was really grounding. We also ordered some bacon, baguette, and avocado to go and it was super delish. The place was very cute and country inspired and very cozy. We got seated fast but after that, it went downhill. Service was not very friendly- and the manager or owner was conducting business in the main dining room. The server kept looking distracted and even spilled some water on my daughter and didn't apologize- although again I don't think he even noticed. Potato leek soup was delicious- prob should have only ordered that. Chicken quesadilla was served with salsa on the side but again, was already partially spilled. Chicken tasted...too uncooked. My daughter did like her salmon tartine. My husband ate the meatballs but it wasn't anything special. At some point they got food deliveries and it was unprofessional how they discussed the delivery person. No one asked us how the food was or if we needed anything. If you're a foodie who's visiting Pacific Grove, then this place is for you. I love it when I visit. Last few times I stick with my usual crave- smoked salmon over potato pancake with lemon and capers with a poached an egg. DELICIOUS.It's super fresh and vibrant. I keep telling myself to taste the other delicious food they have on their menu, but keep getting this. Really friendly staff. Last time I went I noticed a young staff member happily helping tourists fill their weekend with fun things to do. My waiter was great and friendly. They have inside and outside seating. Excellent food, service, and quaint ambiance! I hadn't been here before and my friends found it on Yelp so you know I was on board. We were sat right away and offered drinks, orders taken, and food came out quickly. I had the smoked salmon benedict, which is one of my go to's for breakfast. My friends both had the classic country breakfast. My only, and very minor compaint, is that my food came out a little cold. I was surprised because it did come out seemingly fast. Cold food is one of my pet peeves, but I didn't feel like sending it back. Even as a semi cold meal my food was very good! Even the oven roasted potatoes it came with were bomb. We were tended to consistently between the bussers and servers who all worked together. The service was very fast and friendly. Had a great lunch today on our trip to Pacific Grove. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We sat a a cute table for two by the window. I ordered the oven roasted chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the chorizo and eggs. We also got a bowl of fresh fruit with honeyed cream. Everything was delicious. My chicken sandwich was so good. The chorizo and eggs came with potatoes and they were excellent. The fruit bowl was nice and refreshing. For dessert we shared a piece of Olallieberry pie from Gizdich farms. That pie is amazing. If you ever have a chance to go to Gizdich Farms in person, in Watsonville, you should definitely try it. You can buy whole pies to take home. I really recommend trying the Red House Cafe if you're in the area. read more

Based on Yelp reviews, just had to try this place on a recent trip to the area. A friend and I went for breakfast about mid-morning on a Sunday. Though there appeared to be a line outside, our party of two got in fairly quickly. Space is limited in this quaint restaurant, which appears to have been converted from a small cottage. Since space was pretty filled with tables, some might find the environment a little loud (so just be prepared for that). My friend was disappointed that they had run out of smoked salmon, as she had her heart set on the salmon eggs Benedict. Our waiter recommended the Huevos Rancheros, from the daily specials list---which she did ordered and added their chicken sausage to. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. I had to try their French toast (made with a brioche bread), which is a breakfast fave of mine. Our drink orders (which included mimosas) came promptly, with food also coming timely. They did offer a half order of French toast, which is what I ordered. It was very delicious and perfectly cooked....my only complaint was that it came lukewarm. The side of chicken sausage was just okay. My friend thought the Huevos Rancheros was very good; it was generously portioned and she liked it enough to take home her leftovers. All in all, this place is definitely worth checking out. Maybe try to go earlier than 10 for breakfast, to ensure they don't run out of certain items. read more

This place is a cute spot on the main street in Pacific Grove. They have a nice wrap-around balcony. When we got there around noon on a Saturday, they didn't have seating inside, but there was some available outside. I felt like everything was just fine, nothing really outstanding. My frittata was kind of bland. It did come with a salsa that I could put on top, but that salsa was just spicy and not really any flavor other than spicy. I liked everything, but I expected it to be more exciting seeing the crowds. My mom got the portabello mushroom sandwich, which was huge and pretty tasty, though it says on the menu that all sandwiches are served with an orzo salad, which this wasn't. I guess you could pay to get fries or something in addition if you want a side. The sandwich was served on gigantic bread. I felt like the service was nice, but a little average. So happy to see that Red House Cafe survived the pandemic! I first ate here in 2019 and finally got to come back almost 6 years later. The major changes I noticed since last time were: 1. They added a bunch of outdoor seating out front! We didn't have to wait for a table this time which was great. 2. Their prices have increased pretty significantly over the past few years. The portions are smaller as well which is unfortunate, but understandable given the rising costs of everything. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict (my favorite), Cinnamon Brioche French Toast, and Chai Latte. The chai was actually incredible. Sweet, creamy, and heavy on the cinnamon! Overall, I have such a soft spot for this place and am looking forward to coming back. read more

He had the chorizo and scrambled eggs with avocado and tortilla that he inhaled. I had the breakfast trifle that was delicious to the very last bite. Sounds boring, but it wasn't. Debated on what to order and went for the crab cake benedict. It was different as it was served on a croissant. My friend had gotten a side of their yummy salsa and when I asked for a side, it seemed they were going to charge for it. We ended up sharing hers and I actually preferred the benedict for bottled hot sauce instead. Everything was tasty, but since the crab cake and croissant don't have much texture, it was a bit of a mushy dish. Potatoes were cooked fine as well, but do wish there was a little bit more flavor to them. So we stayed and had lunch. It was a little fancier than what we are used to but pretty delicious. I had thr toasted grilled cheese with fontana, artichoke hearts and pepers with the aioli on the side and I couldnt eat the orzo pasta as I have an intolerance to olive oil. Sad!
