Hard to say about ambiance since I sat outdoors with my dogs. But service was prompt and super helpful. They were kind enough to refill my dog water bottle. I ordered a chai and they bring out like almost a small soup bowl size of chai latte. Smelled so good. Nice to have on a cold day. Salmon Benedict - so delicous! Piping hot. Wanted to come here for breakfast but unfortunately we were a bit to late so we sat for lunch instead. This is a cozy restaurant with a small indoor sitting room and seating outside in a covered porch area. We sat outside and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waitress was wonderful and she had a big beautiful smile C-: I ordered a cheeseburger "med rare" with cheddar cheese and it came with fries. The burger came nicely cooked at med rare and was actually pretty good except some of the bites I took had a heavy handed wasabi flavor. "Wasn't liking that at all" overall 2 stars for taste. Wifey ordered a portobello mushroom sandwich and a double shot of espresso coffee. Both the coffee and portobello mushroom sandwich or excellent "5 stars" overall I might come back for the portobello mushroom sandwich for lunch, but definitely not to Berger. The Red House Cafe is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite while in Pacific Grove. It is a small house that is quaintly decorated & yet somehow manages to seat quite a crowd! The Portobello Mushroom sandwich is delicious! It is hard to beat a grilled portobello mushroom on soft ciabatta bread, topped with tangy goat cheese, fresh basil, sweet caramelized onions & reduced balsamic glaze! My husband always orders the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich which comes with a very generous serving of pork slices. Absolutely loved this place! We got there right at opening time, we were welcomed in We got the country breakfast with ham and sourdough absolutely loved it. Super yummy. We also ordered some bacon, baguette, and avocado to go and it was super delish. The place was very cute and country inspired and very cozy. I keep telling myself to taste the other delicious food they have on their menu, but keep getting this. Really friendly staff. Last time I went I noticed a young staff member happily helping tourists fill their weekend with fun things to do. My waiter was great and friendly. They have inside and outside seating. Excellent food, service, and quaint ambiance! I hadn't been here before and my friends found it on Yelp so you know I was on board. We were sat right away and offered drinks, orders taken, and food came out quickly. I had the smoked salmon benedict, which is one of my go to's for breakfast. My friends both had the classic country breakfast. My only, and very minor compaint, is that my food came out a little cold. I was surprised because it did come out seemingly fast. Cold food is one of my pet peeves, but I didn't feel like sending it back. Even as a semi cold meal my food was very good! Even the oven roasted potatoes it came with were bomb. We were tended to consistently between the bussers and servers who all worked together. The service was very fast and friendly. Let me do a 11 year update. Friday noonish, not terrible busy about two thirds full. A quick check in and shown to our table. Through out our time there it seemed we were just another ticket with no interaction by both our waiter and the busboy...more matter of fact. I've had more interaction at most Denny's Not as relaxing as I remembered. Food was good but not rememberable or anything you would brag about. Is it a spot I would send a friend visiting the bay? I guess it's no secret anyway, best brunch i've had in years. The metropolitan bay area is known for the world-class food and renowned cuisines, but we have so much to learn from a quaint and unassuming cafe in a small coastal town. Situated on a cute corner away from the madness of the wharf, we found plenty of parking right outside, got seated immediately, and got a great corner booth between the window and the fireplace. Ambiance: The decor was homely but stately. It was certainly busy but the workers were on it with the bevs and ordering. It was quietly bustling but the dining experience was anything but. It felt like I was having Christmas morning at my really rich but super down-to-earth aunt's lake house who is married to the senator of vermont and im in the running as her favorite niece. (im just talking out of my butt here. i have no clue what that feeling's like but i THINK this is close) Ordered: - Crabcake benedict to share: BEST. BENEDICT. Lots of variations here. Croissant, crabcake, poached egg, hollandaise, added avocados, comes with potatoes on the side. The croissant was a welcomed substitute, crabcakes light, hollandaise warm and classic. The crossaint was still warm and flakey, didnt get soggy by the sauces. the crabcake fresh, light, and unbattered. the potatoes were sweet, al-dente, and seasoned to perfection. No notes! - Crabcake to share: just extra crabcakes here but it also comes with a beautiful salad that was thoughtfully complimentary. Crisp and young greens topped with feta, caramelized onions, and dressed with a light vinaigrette that wasn't tart. The salad really changed what i thought a side salad can be. yom. - Fresh squeezed orange juice: Not too sweet, not a tinge of sour, flavorful, light but not watery, not pulpy, and a generous portion. Definitely made my morning. - Cappuccino: Very full-bodied, foamy, not too sweet. Though I personally would perfer a touch more sweetness but a very personal preference and would like simple syrup to adjust. Perfect for my partner who ordered it and is watching his glucose level. Compared to the Bay Area's over-the-top fusion brunches and long waitlists of bottomless lychee mimosas, the Red House Cafe's attention to detail and commitment to quality was really grounding. Had a great lunch today on our trip to Pacific Grove. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We sat a a cute table for two by the window. I ordered the oven roasted chicken sandwich and my husband ordered the chorizo and eggs. We also got a bowl of fresh fruit with honeyed cream. Everything was delicious. My chicken sandwich was so good. The chorizo and eggs came with potatoes and they were excellent. The fruit bowl was nice and refreshing. For dessert we shared a piece of Olallieberry pie from Gizdich farms. That pie is amazing. If you ever have a chance to go to Gizdich Farms in person, in Watsonville, you should definitely try it. You can buy whole pies to take home. I really recommend trying the Red House Cafe if you're in the area. read more

We've been here before and everything fell down yesterday. We started with drinks. My order for an extra hot latte with whole milk came luke warm and sweet. I didn't ask for a sweetener and the milk tasted like a nut milk). Replacement latte had no foam. They just poured the milk in. I gave up in the latte after this. Crab cake Benedict's were gloopy. Couldn't taste the mushy crab cakes and we ended up not eating the croissants because they were so soggy. Smoked salmon = flavorless. Hollandaise = bland. We tried to go to Rudolpho's -- too busy. This place is a cute spot on the main street in Pacific Grove. They have a nice wrap-around balcony. When we got there around noon on a Saturday, they didn't have seating inside, but there was some available outside. I felt like everything was just fine, nothing really outstanding. My frittata was kind of bland. It did come with a salsa that I could put on top, but that salsa was just spicy and not really any flavor other than spicy. I liked everything, but I expected it to be more exciting seeing the crowds. My mom got the portabello mushroom sandwich, which was huge and pretty tasty, though it says on the menu that all sandwiches are served with an orzo salad, which this wasn't. I guess you could pay to get fries or something in addition if you want a side. The sandwich was served on gigantic bread. I felt like the service was nice, but a little average. They had a lot of staff who walked by our table a lot, but it was a little hard to get our bill at the end. Not like I wouldn't go back or anything, but I'd try something different. Based on Yelp reviews, just had to try this place on a recent trip to the area. A friend and I went for breakfast about mid-morning on a Sunday. Though there appeared to be a line outside, our party of two got in fairly quickly. Space is limited in this quaint restaurant, which appears to have been converted from a small cottage. Since space was pretty filled with tables, some might find the environment a little loud (so just be prepared for that). My friend was disappointed that they had run out of smoked salmon, as she had her heart set on the salmon eggs Benedict. Our waiter recommended the Huevos Rancheros, from the daily specials list---which she did ordered and added their chicken sausage to. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. I had to try their French toast (made with a brioche bread), which is a breakfast fave of mine. Our drink orders (which included mimosas) came promptly, with food also coming timely. They did offer a half order of French toast, which is what I ordered. It was very delicious and perfectly cooked....my only complaint was that it came lukewarm. The side of chicken sausage was just okay. My friend thought the Huevos Rancheros was very good; it was generously portioned and she liked it enough to take home her leftovers. All in all, this place is definitely worth checking out. Maybe try to go earlier than 10 for breakfast, to ensure they don't run out of certain items. read more

So happy to see that Red House Cafe survived the pandemic! I first ate here in 2019 and finally got to come back almost 6 years later. The major changes I noticed since last time were: 1. They added a bunch of outdoor seating out front! We didn't have to wait for a table this time which was great. 2. Their prices have increased pretty significantly over the past few years. The portions are smaller as well which is unfortunate, but understandable given the rising costs of everything. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict (my favorite), Cinnamon Brioche French Toast, and Chai Latte. The chai was actually incredible. Sweet, creamy, and heavy on the cinnamon! Overall, I have such a soft spot for this place and am looking forward to coming back. read more

It had a warm and cozy feeling. I had stuffed myself the night before at Kuma Japanese Restaurant so I just wanted to have a light breakfast, unlike my BF. He had the chorizo and scrambled eggs with avocado and tortilla that he inhaled. I had the breakfast trifle that was delicious to the very last bite. Sounds boring, but it wasn't. I came here on Sunday at 12pm with a group of 7 and it was busyyyyy. They quoted us 30-40 minutes and it was pretty accurate. Service to order was a bit slow. We ordered around 1pm. Unfortunately, the frittata was sold out by then so I got the crab cake Benedict. I really enjoyed it, it wasn't too heavy but I do wish the potatoes were a little crispier. We had such fond memories of RHC from over 10 years ago! We came back with our teen kids. We came in for brunch around 11am. It was kind of crowded, but we were seated outside without having to wait. Again, they took our drink orders right away. We ordered a latte and a lemonade. Those were brought out very quickly. Our food came out perfectly cooked. The egg benedicts were on toasted croissants, with perfectly poached eggs and homemade hollandaise sauce. The sauce is thinner than what we make at home but it's just as good! The oven toasted potatoes are seasoned well - we all had the side of potatoes! The frittata was a large serving - my daughter couldn't finish it so we packed it up for home.
