Walked in and was overwhelmed by the amount of people in here but the service was so fast and friendly regardless! It's 10am and they seem to be running low on bagels which is a good sign. There quite a few guys working behind the counter so it makes sense why the turn over is fast. We ordered the pebble beach and the chorizo bagels which were amazing. Cool vibes in here, very friendly and helpful staff. They have a pretty simple menu which makes it easy to figure out what you want. Bagels are constantly fresh baked coming hot out of the oven. I was there 20 minutes and finally decided they didn't deserve my business. If they had phone orders or something, I would totally understand, if they they had just said "hey, sorry, we're swamped, it's going to be awhile...." This is definitely a "locals" spot. Jess could tell by the constant customers who came in and were on a first name basis. But mind you, this group of people are super friendly, very inviting and really patient when it comes to first timers like us. Food was great! When you walk in, look to your right and they have the menu on the wall, look to your left and they have a QR code for use if you wanna look at your phone. Open seating, there's a case near the front that has a variety of bagels next to the counter. Plus they have a counter where you can put hot sauce or other seasonings on your bagel sandwiches. I got the Heart Attack which has a hot link, bacon-fried egg, and cheddar cheese. Choose any bagel you want to put it on, I got a sesame. The bagel was great! Soft in the inside, a little dense to hold the product on the outside. Perfect bite. Flavors were really good! Hot link had a nice kick but not overly spicy. The egg was nicely fried, but I would've liked it a little more runny. Jess got the Meet Me In New York which has Lox, cream cheese, capers, micro greens, tomato and red onion. This is an ABSOLUTE MUST for anyone that loves seafood; especially salmon. I personally am not a fan, but Jess loved everything about this. She opted for a Croissant instead of a Bagel. Note: it is an up charge for the croissant but not by much, about a dollar and some change I believe. Overall this place was Great! The only problem we had was the orange juice. For almost 3 dollars for a 12oz glass that's not filled to the top. It's a pass. Get a soda or a water instead. The orange juice had nice flavor, but for the small amount you're getting for the price isn't worth it. For two sandwiches, two orange juices and tip was around $33 dollars. If you were like me and thought that was a little pricey, it's really not compared to being closer to Cannery Row. You'll definitely be spending double that. Trust me, we know from experience now. At least here it was great service, great product and something we both would be happy to come back and try again when we're in town. They even got burritos which I'm curious to give a go. We did a pick up order on a cold foggy morning in Monterey and I was SOO happy with the quality and taste of these bagels. I'm a huge cream cheese girl and they loaded me up! I got a sourdough bagel with plain cream cheese- the sourdough was sooo tasty it was unbelievable! This is located in the Fairway Shopping center, next to the ACE Hardware. We went there for a Friday lunch in April, 2025. Parking was easy. We ordered three sandwiches. They were ready pretty soon. Tried this place on a whim and was delighted! Tasty sandwiches for about $9-10. It felt hefty and was made right to order. I love the filling of avocado, mushrooms, veggies and eggs. Definitely add some hot sauce from their side counter for more flavor. Very spacious inside and the staff members were also kind. Ordered a dirty chai along with my meal and it was the perfect balance, not too sweet but strong. Only awkward moment was after you order Staff will start making your order right away instead of having you pay first. People started piling up and had to be on the lookout for when it was their turn to pay, instead of being able to sit down and wait for their order. This bagel sammie was so damn delicious that I ordered the wrong one and didn't even care. Bagel Kitchen is a humble bagel shop in Monterey. For a bagel shop, it's extremely spacious. One odd thing was the menu being all the way to the right of the entrance, far away from the register. All the sandwiches, cream cheeses, and bagel flavors are all spelled out and listed accordingly. I ended up with the Lumberjack. I thought I was ordering another. Clearly I lost track from the long walk from the menu board to the cashier, haha. Let's be real, it was probably due to not having coffee yet! Anywho, my wife and I loved our sandwiches. Lumberjack // pork sausage patty, red bell pepper onion blend, potatoes, cheddar cheese, on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. Life hack: make a bagel sandwich better by inserting fried potatoes. I drenched the sammie in Cholula. It was spicy, meaty, fresh, and the bagel had the ideal texture for a sandwich. I could've eaten another one on the spot! We didn't find too many places to find a bagel in Carmel/Monterey, but that's not the sole reason why Bagel Kitchen rocks. Came into Monterey earlier today and stopped here for a late breakfast, early lunch. My son picked it out of my Monterey/Carmel Yelp collection. Pros- the breakfast burrito and whole wheat bagel were quite good. The burrito was loaded with all the right breakfast burrito ingredients that you'd want (egg, cheese, bacon, and potatoes). My bagel was toasted perfectly and the ratio of bagel to cream cheese was just right. Cons- their ordering system (if you can call it that) was quite confusing and chaotic. It looked like one line turned into four lines, with people coming in after others and being serviced first. Even my 17 year old commented that the lack of structure was creating a lot of inefficiencies, and I 100 percent agree. Service was also a mixed bag... friendly in some ways, weird in others. They didn't want to give us a box for our leftovers, the burrito would have seeped out of the bag the lady tried to give to my son. He was persistent though and was able to obtain one box and one bag (bag for the other half of my bagel). If we were in the area again, we'd be open to trying this spot again, but we wouldn't come out just to eat here or make any special trips to do so. read more

My husband and I were in Carmel by the sea for a brief getaway. We were in the mood for a bagel one morning, and my husband stumbled upon this place. It had very decent reviews and we made our way over. I went with the lox bagel on an onion bagel. We came pretty late in the afternoon, so there was very slim options. That being said, these were some of the BEST bagels we've had. My husband got a hot link bagel sandwich and he loved it. The place is a very cute and spacious location. Salsa included was "eh" but can't expect everything to be perfect. Menus are on the wall across from the bagel counter. Was mildly off put by the lack of help at first, but after giving it some thought and recognizing how 90% of the people appeared to be regulars, it might've just slipped some of the staffs' mind. There's plenty of seating insides and a small "private" area if you have a large enough group to occupied the tables.
