I was out of bagels and Balsam was closed for vacation so decided to pick up a few at Bagel Land, big mistake. They are half the size of either Brownstein or Balsam. The Bailys were not only small but hard, Brownstein has the best Bailys, soft, huge and perfect in everyway. I would not go back to Bagel Land for anything. Very good bagels, good assortment of bagels, reasonable prices, friendly service and kept reasonably clean. This big issues are the location with limited parking and traffic concerns and more importantly, the lack of space in the store. It's very small inside and only hold about 10 people standing with no place to sit. Every time I've gone I've observed people leaving after standing out front for several minutes waiting to get into the store to wait in live to be served. The owner needs to pony up and rent a larger space in the same plaza. Allergy warning!!! Have read many reviews about the poor service but decided to try. Walked into this place and then walked out about after 2 minutes after. I heard the woman making bagels loudly exclaiming they only have 3 knives which they do not wash between using peanut butter or cream cheese. A young man stated he had a peanut butter allergy and she rudely told him that he should "bring his own knife if he has a peanut butter allergy". We immediately left after. The worked also made a point to say the 3 knives has served over 400 people today and have not been washed. read more

Recently tried Bagel Land as a friend of mine in the hospital loves bagels from this place. I visited several times over the past couple weeks to get bagels for him. The bagels themselves are good, varied selection, fresh, and quite a few different cream cheeses that are delicious. Place is a little small, fair priced, and counter service was good. My issue is that I tried calling multiple times (when they're supposed to be open, and no answer, only voice mail) with no return call, and two of the three times I went when they were supposed to be open, they weren't. I know where in an pandemic and all, but come on, honor your hours or answer the phone. My husband and I had an appointment in Rochester this morning and we stopped at this establishment for a quick breakfast. We purchased a bakers dozen of a variety of bagels, three different types of cream cheese they had available in the cooler, 2 jalapeño toasted bagels with smoked salmon cream cheese, and 2 medium coffees for $28! What! Yes! $28! And everything was INCREDIBLE!!! The bagels aren't very large in size (which is terrific for me) but they have the perfect crusty outside but chewy inside texture of a true NY Style bagel. The smoked salmon cream cheese is by a company called, Lighthouse Cream Cheese; fishy, smokey, a bit salty but very creamy. Oh yum! The staff were very friendly and courteous. Later, when we arrived home, I had a Hot Salt bagel with Sriracha Honey Cream Cheese, and my husband had another Jalapeño bagel, with Jalapeño Cream Cheese. We will be returning to Rochester in a few weeks and I'll definitely stop in again. read more

First off, I want to say that the bagels and cream cheese here are very delicious. They are freshly made every morning and I had never left the store unsatisfied with my bagel order. I often come here during school when I am free. This morning, I represented my swim team in ordering bagels for our early Saturday morning practice, as it is that time of the year when our season has begun. It has been a long standing tradition that our swim team has bagels and cream cheese after their morning practices, and thus we have received a discount that can be applied. However, today, when I was checking out and asked for the discount, one of the older female workers grabbing bagels had overheard and did not believe I was here for the swim team. She was rude and skeptical that our swim season had started before school started. I had tried to explain to her that we have a "preseason" that starts a few weeks before school, however, she interrupted me and invalidated my statements. When I explained to her we were holding a fundraiser for our team as evidence that we WERE in season, she shot me down and said fundraisers and season were not the same. However, I did not finish my thought and had offered her to come to the fundraiser to see that we were in season! I had never had a bad encounter with a Bagel Land worker until today, and was greatly saddened that this might be the last time I step foot in Bagel Land. I'm disappointed by this encounter, but no bagel is good enough to justify feeling invalidated as a loyal and paying customer. I am also only a teenager, which may have brought upon the skepticism. I ended up here after first trying my usual go-to bagel stop, Balsam, but they were closed for the week for vacation. Although not quite as good as Balsam they still had a wide variety of bagels to choose from as well as a spectrum of varying cream cheeses. Decent place. Most of the bagels were in stock when we went a bit before noon. None of the fire salt. Friendly small staff. Bagels were pretty good. Maybe a tad on the hard side. There was a regular there who knew the ins and outs pretty well, so it seems consistent. We got a variety of bagels and the spicy bacon scallion cream cheese. The two star isn't to say the bagels aren't as good as everyone says they are because they are good. It's the service and disorganization that makes me question this place. We wanted bagels, I mistakenly thought they made breakfast sandwiches so my husband was disappointed but that's not their fault - it's mine. The confusion comes from having to order at the far end of the counter then walk back towards the door to tell the guy who's actually making the bagel what I ordered. Bagels are one of my favorite foods and I don't get real water bagels where I'm from, so this was such a nice treat! FYI: a water bagel is a glazed, ring-shaped roll with a tough, chewy texture, made from plain yeast dough that is dropped briefly into nearly boiling water and then baked. I ordered up two: a garlic bagel with chive scallion cream cheese and a cheddar chive bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese. The bagels get 5 stars from me all the way. The texture was the bee's knee's and up there with the best I've ever had. It's a no frills shop so expect a hole in the wall with standard cream cheese fare and no fancy toppings. I wish they had bacon, egg, and cheese options - but then again, my favorite thing is when a resto sticks to what they know and do it really well and Bagel Land does just that - 5 stars. read more

Best Bagels in Rochester This place, surrounded by the usual breakfast chains, stands out because of the quality of their bagels. Their menu options are limited, but frankly, that's how you get good at something, you perfect THAT, and ignore the rest. I haven't found a bagel that I didn't like from here, and when I am in the area, that's where I go to get me so delicious bagels. The parking is limited out front in twelve corners but there's usually a spot out back and you can cut through a store. It's official. Bagel Land is my go-to for basic bagel with cream cheese order. If I want to grab breakfast on the go, or a dozen to last me the week, this is it. They keep it simple, which makes it easy every time. You really are only getting bagels and cream cheese walking in here so don't expect any frills beyond that. Their style is the water bagel -- ultimately chewier on the inside and crustier on the outside, uniquely making this bagel worthy of eating untoasted or toasted. Of course, best when still warm and fresh so come early! The space is small, with the counter for ordering, a couple fridges with their cream cheese containers to-go and drinks, a couple coffee carafes, and the bagel bins. They have normally 15-20 bagel options on hand. My go-to all time favorite bagel / cream cheese combo is the egg bagel toasted with chive cream cheese. Secondary favorite options include the sesame bagel with scallion bacon cream cheese, or some combo with a pumpernickel bagel, poppy seed bagel, blueberry bagel, or cheddar chive bagel. Sometimes I'll go rogue and get a bagel toasted with peanut butter & jelly. Never disappointed. Not once. Ever. Smiles all around! From NYC appreciate the authenticity. I've been going to Bagel land many years, over 12. I went 2 years ago and older customer service lady incredibly rude. Called me a silly goose for handing her debit instead of punch card. Other rude comments regarding mistake. Wow!! Didn't go back, started missing water bagels. Oh god ! Rude lady there, maybe owner. I never saw her prior to 2 years ago. I couldn't see cream cheese flavors without glasses and no assistance. Just pointed from behind counter. Stopped by on a Sunday morning for a quick Bagel pick-up. I got a couple Jalapeno, Fire Salt, Multi Grain and Cheese/Chive bagels. They were super fresh with the perfect amount of chew. The kind of good that on the way home you find yourself breaking them into pieces and just dipping them in the tub of cream cheese. Speaking of the cream cheese, they have many options - Light and Regular. I chose the Cheesecake which is perfect - taste just like cheesecake! I definitely want to try the jalapeno and light veggie options which are my usual go-to flavors. Staff was super friendly and line moved fast. First time here! I saw a bunch of people loving it on Yelp! Recently so I had to check it out. It was a bit hard to find with all the plaza signs looking exactly alike- I circled around twice to find it. It is between Panera Bread and B. Younique. I heard other helpers talk about the confusion of ordering and yes I experienced it too. You can tell either the food guy or cashier what you want and it will get made, but pay up at the cashier- Linda confusing if your not used to coming. It is extremely small so you'll be bumping into people if it gets busy which it did as soon as I got there. I ordered a pumpkin bagel with honey walnut cream cheese- $2.90 .I asked for it toasted and the guy making it asked me if I was sure I wanted it toasted because they just came out, so I just got Lightly Toasted. Apparently they are good not toasted and almost people prefer it that way. However after I ate mine I realized I did want it fully toasted- I normally like my bagels burnt because I like the crunch. The bottom half of my bagel was better because it was crispier- I know for next time. Pumpkin bagel: Pumpkin flavor was not overpowering but definitely there. The bagel was moist and chewy- a bit too soft for my liking. Honey nut cream cheese: creamy and wonderful! It was a nice compliment to the pumpkin bagel. I tasted more pumpkin than the actual cream cheese flavor which I didn't mind. The spread had minimal actual walnut chunks- some might want more but I liked it that way. These bagels remind me of how good bagels used to be when I was a kid. Perfect flavor and texture and they even retain their quality when frozen. The only thing I wish is that they were somewhere in Santa Monica. My friend treated me to some. I'm going to call tomorrow to see if they'll ship because I only have 4 left!
