There are time that even the best business has a hiccup and something goes wrong. What makes a huge difference is how the business responds, and therefore, Rekindle gets five stars. I'm certain my next visit will be fantastic - I'll be posting an update in the near future. Wow - So Disappointed! Rekindle was at the Taste of Orange this year and I enjoyed one of the Italian sandwich samples they were handing out. It was fantastic! We met the owner - she was very charismatic and charming. Today we stopped by to grab an Italian sandwich, and I just cannot believe they served me bread that was so old and dry - it would have been perfect for croutons, but definitely nothing like what we had at the Taste of Orange. The bread was so dry I had to dress it up with some olive relish to eat it - I don't expect when I pay $31 for a sandwich and chai iced tea latte to get home and have to start working on my sandwich. The Fifth Avenue seemed a bit light on the lox, but other than that, no major complaints. Overall, giving 5th Ave Bagelry a 4/5. It's a solid spot for bagels. The line is always long for OC Baking Company so get there early. Our favorites are the huge loaf of French bread and the cranberry walnut bread. I usually by two or three loaves of each and freeze it all in smaller portions in zip lock bags. So many bakeries have skimped on ingredients and filled their bread with fillers and who knows what else. I hope OC Bakery never does that. They have a LOT of options. Mostly they sell their bread to businesses. Only Saturday to the public and as far as I know, only at the one location. During the insane shutdown they opened their warehouse to the public weekly. It was great. Try their bread!

We decided to pick up a couple of loaves of bread. We got one sourdough and one cinnamon brioche. We tried them both this morning. We made French toast with the brioche and made sourdough toast with butter and jam. Both were excellent. We were only going to buy the loaf of sourdough but the guy helping us told us it was buy one, get one free so we choose the brioche. What a deal! We don't know if this is their regular deal or it was for the holiday or what but we were thrilled. We don't live in OC but we're not too far so we can come visit our friends and pick up more bread when whenever we want. So happy we tried the bread.
