Corned beef hash or chicken fried steak? The titans of breakfast...
    David W.

When I was young, my best friend was my American Eskimo dog Willy. He was so friendly, loving and loyal I couldn't imagine another person I could love more than Willy. We did everything together and he was by my side at all times, making sure I smiled and was in a good mood. At dinner time I would always sneak him some food, his favorite was meatballs on spaghetti night. Willy, although eager to eat the food I was eating he would also seem eager to eat the dog food we would leave out for him in the morning time. Being a curious and precocious young boy, I wanted to see why he went so crazy for his dog food in the morning. Was it really that good? How different could it be from my food he would scarf down by the dinner table? So one afternoon while my parents were at work, I decided to have a taste of what looked like corned beef hash but smelled like corned beef a$$. I don't have to tell you how this story ends but I will. I threw up and learned a valuable lesson that day, dog food is for dogs and not humans. Well this morning when I stopped by the Original Pancake House and ordered my favorite breakfast, corned beef hash, my taste buds were instantly taken back to that horrible morning where I found out, first hand, that dog food is disgusting. I was tricked by my eyes and flawed reasoning. I saw a line of people going into this establishment and it always seemed busy with locals during breakfast time. "This place must have delicious food," I thought. I was wrong! I don't know what kind of MK Ultra has been done to the patrons of this restaurant but it was probably the worst breakfast I've ever had. It didn't look appetizing and the corned beef hash had an uncanny resemblance to Willy's breakfast all those years ago. On this day, I learned another valuable lesson. Don't follow the crowd because they're usually just sheep going to the slaughter. Stay independent and eating human food my friends.....

Stopped in for breakfast and ordered the Eggs Florentine, Jim's Potatoes, and the Pigs in a Blanket. The Eggs Florentine had a nice, light flavor thanks to the tomato and spinach, though I was a bit disappointed that the poached eggs were overcooked. It also came with a side of fluffy pancakes, which were a pleasant addition. The orange sauce was especially refreshing and delicious! The Jim's Potatoes were generously topped with bacon and cheese and were absolutely delicious! The Pigs in a Blanket came with a hearty portion of sausage and paired perfectly with syrup. Service was fast, and our waiter was attentive and checked in on us regularly. The ambiance was lively and busy, with a fairly loud atmosphere.

Took my mom here for brunch. It was nice coming during the week and a bit later in the day, as there was no wait. We were immediately seated in a nice booth. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. We split the corned beef hash and eggs to start. The hash is homemade and delicious. Tender, seasoned well, and my mom loved it. The eggs were cooked perfectly to order. Since we wanted the Apple pancake I took home the regular pancakes home! The Apple pancake was huge, hot and delicious. I loved the cinnamon and sticky yummy sauce, so good! We both enjoyed every bite. Our coffee was refilled as needed too!! We will be back!

Shout out to my favorite server, Stephanie! She is hilarious and always makes my family crack up whenever we come through for a nice meal at our go-to breakfast spot. The food is consistently solid, and I'd argue that they have the best house coffee around. People are served quickly with hot meals and friendly smiles. What more could you want? It's literally the only spot that my family and I always return to because there's no gamble or risky business here. I'll be dreaming of those fluffy pancakes until next time!

We were in the neighborhood for a vet visit so came by for breakfast. The service was pretty good but the food was just OK. We personally prefer the location at Aliso Viejo, especially the corn beef hash. Their corn beef hash isn't as salty as most breakfast places but not as great as the location at Aliso Viejo. I probably won't go out of my way for this but if I'm in the neighborhood, I don't mind eating here again.

The staff was able to handle our large party with friendly and efficient service. I ordered the Jim's Special and it was delicious with bacon, sausage and ham. Families and fun welcome here with smiles everywhere

I am a big fan of The Original Pancake House and usually go to the one more south! However, This is my FIRST time at this location here in Orange. And Wow, what a difference... Firstly, In my opinion, everything seems to be overly buttered and overly salty. I ordered the same thing I ordered, at the other Original Pancake House location in my Yelp reviews. In a nutshell.... Basically, I'm never coming back to this location, Found myself with my stomach queasy, and had to drink a lot of water to wash down the butter and salt. In addition, wasn't too pleased with the staff, seeing mature adults, horsing around singing, cultural songs... it just wasn't my vibe. And didn't expect to find it here. In addition, They need to put some money into the decor. The seating felt like old 1960s car seats, deflated with bumps. Nothing was delicious. And our food was over $75 I went there because of the name brand, I should've spent my money elsewhere. My family members didn't even want to eat the leftovers, we took home. - it's actually still in our fridge. The corn, beef and hash, the worst I've ever ordered at a restaurant. Tasted like it was cooked the day before and they just cooked it in a pan with excess butter. Did I mention how much salt and butter was in the food?

Overall, everything lacked flavor, although I will say the red salsa served with the chips was delicious. My friend ordered the avocado toast, but it was basically just a slice of bread with sliced avocado--no seasoning, condiments, or anything to make it stand out. The small garden salad was equally underwhelming, consisting of only romaine lettuce and cherry tomatoes with no dressing or even a drizzle of olive oil. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, but they were more like open-faced boiled eggs since the yolks were completely hard instead of runny. The café de olla had a nice flavor, but it was much sweeter than expected. I think it would be better if they served it unsweetened (or lightly sweetened) and let customers adjust the sugar to their own taste. I really wanted to enjoy this place because the ambiance is so charming, but the food just didn't live up to the experience.

The hours never really worked with our schedule either being from 8:30 am to 2 pm. We started off with the Ube Sweet Cream Cold Brew ($7) and Pandan Cold Brew ($7). My bf absolutely loved the ube cold brew and said it was probably the best he's ever had. He loved it so much that he got another one to-go after we finished our meal so that was a rare occurrence lol. The ube flavor was strong even after everything was mixed together. Smooth, creamy and tasty. My pandan cold brew was also pretty good. Usually I feel like pandan is difficult to get a real robust flavor and you end up tasting more coffee than pandan. I could actually taste the vanilla/nutty notes and coconut flavor. Also very yummy after mixing it all together. Cold brew flavor did end up coming out stronger tho but I somewhat expect that. We ordered the Adobo Rice Omelet ($14.95 - Chicken-adobo garlic rice wrapped in a three egg omelet, topped with adobo gravy, fried garlic & scallions) - This was really tasty and kind of heavy for me. Sooo much rice under the omelette bed lol. I was beyond stuffed and couldn't take another bite at the end and ended up packing like 2 bites in a small box. My bf ordered the Jeepney Breakfast Burrito ($14 - Crispy golden potatoes, melted cheese, chipotle aoli, scrambled eggs. Your choice of meat, served with a side of pork chicharron and Sinigang Salsa verde) - This was soo delicious. The chicharron side was a great crunch and sinigang salsa verde with the burrito made it even better. It was over the top for our bellies already with the heavy breakfast, but I still insisted that we try a regular breakfast item like french toast. Ordered the Ube Fruity Pebble French Toast ($16.95) and it was yummy! I definitely needed more fruity pebbles but that's my preference. Staff was friendly and prompt. The place was packed and I had joined the waitlist online prior to coming. Waited less than 10 min when we actually arrived. I also loved the decorations everywhere with the foliage, light fixtures and even the ceiling fans. The Tagalog vocab on the chalkboard is also fun to read and learn. I like that there's still a modern feel to the place.
