Having worked late tonight, I was looking for somewhere to get a good midnight meal. Ive known about Bagel Oasis forever- as a bagel joint. But I never knew they were open 24hrs!!! If you are familiar with Cherry Valley in Whitestone, this is the same feel at night. All kinds of scrumptious sandwich options after hours. I decided to get a chicken cutlet with mozzarella cheese on top of a sesame seed bagel, just because that option had never been presented to me before. The outside is not really that welcoming or appealing, hell, the inside is not really that nice either but they produce a quality product. The food: Toasted Poppy Bagel with Scallion Cream Cheese- It tasted good but it was kinda weird, the bagel itself didn't have much flavor. Bagels usually have an inherent bagel taste, but I felt this was missing that. My toasted bagel was crispy and light, it kinda tasted like crispy air, it was so airy but I found it to be missing a good chew, something I feel every good New York City bagel should have. Oh I love this place and it's right by my house too. Apparently, it's rated to be one of the best bagels in Queens. I was doing some bridesmaid duties and helped pick up some bagels for the bride's family. They have a package deal for a dozen bagel (pick a mix based on your liking), a container of cream cheese and a package of lox. I really liked the bialy bagel. Originally, I was going to eat half of it and share the other half with the family. But it was just so good, I ended up eating the other half myself. *Note to others: We asked how much the lox would normally cost if we ordered it alone and they said it was $11.99 normally. It's not overly crunchy cutting the edges of your mouth. They still have a bite to them and the extra crunch with larger toasted surface you couldn't get from the regular bagel. I love love love this place. A 24/7 bagel and sandwich spot you can count on whenever. They're even open through storms and everything! My favorite is the E9 on their special menu. 2 eggs, bacon, cheese and HASHBROWN. Oh god yes. It's so delicious every time without fail. They have about 8-10 seats and it can get crowded around breakfast and lunch time but they're very efficient and worth the wait! Today i found the correct location for Bagel Oasis and scored 13 bagels and a half pound of cream cheese for $9.25. I picked up: a) 6 onion bagels: very subtle flavor and barely noticeable b) 6 garlic bagels: subtle flavor but a bit stronger than the garlic c) 1 everything bagel: just a wee bit salty, but this was like God's bagel with the most flavor. I kid you not when I say this place makes kick ass bagels. They have a thin hard shell outside and they're so chewy on the inside. They don't skimp on the toppings and it's cheaper than Gid Inc. When you've been here late at night on Christmas and New Years, you know this place will never let you down. For living in Fresh Meadows over half my life, I am ashamed that I only began buying from Bagel Oasis a year ago... My go-to is the everything bagel toasted with bacon cream cheese and I am blissfully happy for the rest of the day. The staff are always extremely, extremely friendly and they do not skimp on the cream cheese, ever! The layer of cream cheese is thicker than the bagel itself. I'm not a huge fan of their bacon scallion cream cheese because the scallion flavor is waaaay too strong but some of my friends enjoy it. I've also heard many good things about their blueberry cream cheese but I have yet to try it. I recently tried their tofu cream cheese which is supposed to be dairy-free and it's actually amazing! Definitely an option for when i want to avoid dairy. My only complaint is that there is a minimum to use a credit card so I'm forced to buy a drink with my bagel if I want to pay with card. There is also a very limited seating area but I have no complaints with this as I've never been here during their hectic hours. When I am out of state for school this is one of the places I always miss the most. read more

I have to admit that I am not bagel eater that I once was. Nowadays its more the exception than the rule, but so when I have a bagel I try to focus on quality over quantity. I think that fits well with the description of the bagels here. They are not over-sized doughy monstrosities found at some other bagel places. These are well made bagels, just the right size, with a crusty exterior and chewy interior. The regular sized bagels are made fresh throughout the day, but i also picked up some mini-bagels but these were prepackaged in a plastic bag and not the freshest of what I ordered. I also don't think mini-bagels are done that well anywhere - they are too small and tend to dry out too quick. I also picked up a couple of cream cheese flavors - scallion and vegetable. The scallion was good with nice pieces of scallion and good flavor throughout, but the vegetable cream cheese I don't like from here. They use chunks of vegetables so I don't like the texture it also doesn't impart too much flavor to the cream cheese. I prefer when the vegetable pieces are cut smaller. With great, right sized bagels and good prices this place is certainly a winner. Don't know if this is my favorite place, but then again I am not the bagel eater I once was. read more

Whenever I'm hungry and don't know what I want to eat, or if I'm in a rush and need a quick bite, or it's 3AM and nothing is open, bagel oasis is my go-to. My favorite thing to order is a bacon egg and cheese on a garlic bagel! They make their bagels on site and it's so fresh. It's crunchy on the bottom yet so soft to bite into. The service is very quick, so you don't get that customer appreciation service like some other places, but the lines get pretty long here so I understand why they run like this. They open all night making bagels 24/7! I can get their $9.90 deal for a dozen (baker's dozen +1 bonus) bagels with free 8oz cream cheese at 6AM, M-W. I used to live a few blocks away from bagel oasis growing up. It was always open 24/7. Back then it was common for kids to walk to school themselves and I would walk pass this place every morning on my way to elementary school, middle school and then in the very early mornings on my way to the city in high school. I would also come here in the mornings on the weekends on my way to piano lessons, Chinese school, tutoring, and the burger spot MUSTANG used to be right next door (who still remembers that place?!?...I used to tutor the owners' daughter so I always had a meal waiting for me). I was coming to Bagel Oasis when the original family owned and operated the bagel spot, and you could always smell the fresh bread in the air. They offered so many types of bagels but had only plain cream cheese back then. Now, they have ALLLLL sorts of cream cheese, lox, spreads and cold cuts. They are STILL 24/7 and remain the spot I still continue to get my bakers dozen mon-wed. Although they have gone through a change of ownership, and the tastes are a little bit different the quality and offerings of their bagel are still spot on. The freshness factor is still there, and the bagels are baked on premise so they are in constant rotation. There was some buzz about cleanliness but I haven't had an issue yet, and I am a long time customer. Bagel Oasis is where I will keep coming to get my bagels. read more

Its amazing how a place still lives on the good reputation it had some 30 years ago when its goodness is long long gone. I came in on the way to the airport and asked for two bagel sandwiches with the freshest bagels they had available. When I saw and felt what they served me, I knew I was in trouble. I've only heard good things about this place. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't so good. I walked in at 4 AM one workday morning. The two employees were friendly at first, but did not want to make what I ordered, which was the Steak Club and a Honey Maple Combo. They kept suggesting I get breakfast sandwiches. They were "easier" and "better" than what I was trying to order. I finally convinced the guy to make the Steak Club, although he seemed reluctant as he walked into the back. It took over 20 minutes. I was the only customer in there. When I asked the lady working in front if my order was being made, she asked what I ordered. She then asked if I wanted a breakfast sandwich. I finally said I would also try the breakfast sandwich. Another 10 minutes later, they both come out the back and have my sandwiches ready. The first sandwich I ordered was cold and had no seasoning at all. It was just a bland sandwich on stale bread. The breakfast sandwich tasted pretty bland as well, and the bread was stale and crumbly. I feel like they just wanted me to leave. It cost me about $15 and I was super disappointed. I would blame it on the time of day, but you should be selling your best quality food at all times, especially if you're open 24 hours. I will try a bagel next time. read more
