Bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted everything.. just so good!

I just moved back to the neighborhood and have to say this is my go-to breakfast spot. The wife and I take a weekly walk to this awesome bagel spot for breakfast and we are always greeted with a smile and a welcoming good morning by the crew. The bagels are fresh, and the bread is even fresher. You can take out or sit-in. They have specialty sandwiches, cold cuts by the pound, and a range of desserts. Stop by, grab a sandwich and hang out. You wont be disappointed!

Great bagels, great family-run business! The plain bagel is my favorite. It's hard to get good flavor from plain bagel, but this one has flavor and a nice chew.

Amazing bagels and great service. I walked over for a bagel once to kill time. The staff was so nice and friendly. Gave me a free coffee and I ended up buying a half dozen bagels to go in addition. (You get 2 extra free with a half dozen). The bagels were delicious and fresh. Only downfall is I ended up throwing 3 away because they started to mold after a week...I had them stored in plastic but what did I expect since they are fresh and don't have those store bought preservatives. Next time I just won't buy so many at once. I can't wait to try their breakfast sandwiches. They looked good.

    Plenty of sweets!

This was my second visit here, and although it was far from my home, shout out to Adrian, who helped me with my order today and gave me a good customer service experience. Except maybe if you're an all-night gas station, but a deli?…read more That just works in the city that never sleeps because NYC's Finest, Bravest & Strongest are working around the clock, too and come here at all hours of the night. The menu is HUGE! The printed one is 4 pages long, all in a tiny font. Different variations of breaded chicken cutlet, grilled chicken, roast beef, pastrami, corned beef, turkey are combined with American cheese, mozzarella, muenster, provolone, pepper jack on rolls and heroes to make some awesome sandwiches. Toss in some balsamic, honey mustard, bacon, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, red peppers, lettuce, tomato & mayo and you'll have lunch for days. Most of the sandwiches are named by their contents like the Buffalo Chx, but many have unique names like the Corona, the Fat Cat or the Gimp. Then you have names to honor the 24 hr workers like the NYPD, FDNY & DSNY. Don't forget about the hamburger section of the menu, which has like 36 items listed. I'm not exactly sure what a Twin Chzburger Deluxe Couch is, but I have an idea and it kinda scares me. Cherry Valley is a little out of the way here in Northern Whitestone, Queens, which is why I haven't come here before, but I'm going to have to make it a personal mission to come back and try everything. If I'm going to be able to get through the entire menu in what's left of my lifetime, I gotta get started yesterday.

Sal's keeps the beacon of goodness and hope alive with their spectacular version. Purist want the BEC on a Kaiser roll, but I prefer mine on a bagel. Some will disparage the bagel choice because many are poorly made where the fillings tend to smoosh out the opposite side of where the eater is taking a bite. When it is done perfectly the bagel, cheese and eggs become one making a cohesive sandwich with the bacon firmly ensconced in that delicious creaminess where everything is just working magically together. The trick here is getting soft folded layers of eggs that are not over cooked. To me Sal's makes the quintessential version. On top of this great New York breakfast classic sandwich, the iced coffee is money as well. Although off the beaten subway path it is worth the bus ride, or more conveniently, car or even still you can risk a criminal summons hopping on a bike. Whatever your mode of transport, get your ass to Sal's!

The owner(?) and staff were very friendly and they made sure they got my order right! They also made sure to package my order neatly. I got a classic BEC (ordered a 2 egg sandwich + bacon + american cheese, salt, pepper and ketchup) on a roll. I got lucky with a fresh batch of bacon, though it doesn't seem like ingredients sit for long as there's constantly people coming in and out or ordering on the phone. Fresh, hot and decently sized sandwich is all I need! Definitely coming back when I'm craving an egg sandwich!
