We are doing the tourist thing & absolutely needed to try a New York bagel. We were having lunch down the street & I asked the server if the bagel two doors down were any good & they recommended bagel pub instead. First when I walked in I wonder where the heck the bagels were! It looks more like an ordinary deli/smoothie place when I first enter in. After walking all the way to the back I thought I was in the gelato section only to realize those were cream cheese flavors. I ordered three different kind of bagels & cream cheese but only tried the plain one with plain cream cheese so far & was completely amazed at the fresh bagel with a nice crust & cream cheese had just the right tang. Great Bagel Sometimes you just stumble upon a place and get really lucky. I have been to a vast amount of breakfast sandwich joints in the area and I would put the Bagel Pub egg and cheese (meat) bagel sandwich against any of them. I know everyone loves Pies and Thighs but this place gives it a run for its money, as it compares breakfast sandwiches. There is nothing that creeps out store owners more than pulling out your camera and taking photos of their baked goods for Yelp. Automatically you get 20 heads to turn towards you and grin in bemused fascination. Oh no. What have I Done. I'm not turning into one of those crazy yelpers, photoing everything I SEE. I swear! This place is fairly new. It's been around for I want to say a year and a half almost 2 years and I've tried it a few times. It still doesn't beat out Terrace Bagels or the Bagel Factory or even Bagel Boy in Bayridge. But its up there. The bagels are soft and doughy but still chewy. I usually always get either egg or cinnamon raisin. I'm not particularly keen on eating too much salt. Their cream cheese selection here is top notch. They even have pumpkin cream cheese for the holidays and I've had it. It's great. It's not too sweet and provides an interest element to a more plain bagel. I've also had their lox spread which was okay. . . . it was a little on the salty side, not sure why. They also have strawberry, blueberry, vegetable, scallion, jalapeno cheddar, bacon, walnut something, a couple more exotic flavors and some tofu versions of cream cheese for you vegans. I'm more entranced with how many baked goods options they have. Ranging from cake, cookies, tarts, to beautiful rainbow colored macaroons. This place makes me happy when I run my errands before work or on Saturday morning. Forewarning I am not a bagel connoisseur... They all taste the same to me.As long as they aren't hard or super chewy, it's a winner in my book I like the variety of cream cheese they have, but sometimes I just keep it old school with butter and jelly. I am also a fan of there coffee and that they have decaf ice coffee... which many places don't have. Like people who drink decaf don't like it iced...I digress. It's like an addiction Their bagels are the classic, dense, chewy bagels, and I highly recommend the onion and the everything bagels. So good. THE AMBIANCE: This was our first stop when coming into New York. It is a small cafe with a little indoor/covered outdoor patio area. The rest of the space is mostly counters and the restroom is in the back on the left hand side. THE BAGEL: I ordered the fresh lox and scallion cream cheese bagel, toasted, and it was on point. I've passed by this place many a morning when going down 9th street after working out at the Y. Usually I need to get right to the R train and head to work. On a couple of weekends I walked in but walked out because it was so crowded. Finally a few days ago I stopped in and I am very glad I did. While I am back on my low carb diet and had to be tortured by the smell of the delicious looking bagels and cream cheeses, I did have a large cup of coffee and it was delicious. I asked if it was the Ethiopian coffee they sometimes advertise on their board and the server said no, Africa. Rather than explain that Ethiopia is in Africa, I said fine and bought a cup. It was really, really good regardless from which nation it originated! I am definitely hooked! Perfect oversized chewy bagels with crispy crusts. Whole wheat everything are always a-plenty. Get some with lox spread and extra tomatoes - ooooh yeah. That'll soothe your hangover for sure. I was surprised to walk by 9th Street last week to find a new addition to the neighborhood! Finally, I don't have to focus on the McDonalds every time I walk on the street. The restaurant has a cute white store front, with a cafe-like seating inside. On sunny days, I think they have started opening up their store front windows to have open seating. The food is your typical bagel, sandwich, and pastry shop. I stopped by and grabbed a white omelet on whole wheat toast. And for $4-5, I thought I got a lot of egg whites for the money. Stopped by here and got an egg sandwich with bacon on a whole wheat bagel. I have to say it was fantastic. Quality egg and bacon, and the bagel was probably the best whole wheat bagel I've ever had (note: I live in the bagel wasteland that is DC, so my compliment is neither hyperbole nor saying a ton). Bagel Pub is an epic bagel shoppe! Flavored cream cheeses and sandwich options galore. They have great specials, fresh juices and pretty good iced coffee! I got the ABC: avocado, egg, cheese and bacon all on a fresh bagel ($6). Smoothies start at just $5! They also have delicious looking cookies, pastries, and parfaits. Food is served quickly, even when they're pretty packed (didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes). Gowanus is kind of a hike from where I live, but Bagel Pub is worth it! read more

I've gone here many times and the food is mostly good sometimes staff isn't the nicest sometimes really nice. But that's not my problem the food is blatantly over priced can't get half doesn't or even a dozen bagels. Have to keep buying single bagels. They interchange they tea at coffee kettles I've got tea that's tasted like it's mixed with coffee multiple times. Good food I'll say again but pricey, and if your ordering online expect them to finesse every penny out of your order. On a solo trip to New York, I was on a mission to eat as much of the good food that New York has to offer in the shortest amount of time as possible. Bagel Pub has a variety of foods from coffee to juices and smoothies, bagels and sandwiches, to huge salads that can be split between two people. I ordered the lox bagel - the most divine bagel that have ever graced my taste buds. The bagel was thick, toasted to perfect, with almost two centimeters thick of cream cheese with chives, and lots of delicious, juicy layers of lox. You can find outdoor sidewalk seating, a few tables inside of the restaurant, and a garden/patio area in the back. Being a lone star Californian, I enjoyed eating in the garden because it gave off what I imagine to be a typical backyard oasis hidden from the city. read more

I just love this place. Have been coming here after gym for quite some time. They make perfect bagels, great cream cheeses and their coffee tastes good. It can get a little bit crowded on weekend morning but most of the people do take out. I like the funny artworks and friendly ambience and lots of light. Although their pastry is good, it could have been better. But major disappointment is the staff. I understand it's a "bagel deli" after all, but let's get serious, we're in Park Slope and you aim to be a café. Why do I get a conveyer service every time I come with no smile, thank you or respect as a customer? Guys and gals working at the place just always seem to be dissatisfied with something. Kept seeing people running in and out, more than the Mickey D next door so I had to go. in nice quaint store. Ordered a sesame with American and it was pretty good. Only thing was that it was toasted dark on the outside. So dark that it made the bagel crispy thruought. It was 1 shade from burnt. But still good. No excess amount of butter. Amazing bagels baked on premises. They're real bagels- hooray! None of that fake stuff that's either too soft or too hard and can barely be considered a "bagel". I ordered an egg bagel toasted with vegetable cream cheese. Delicious. It was moist/soft on the inside. Can't wait to try the different kinds of cream cheese flavors. My favorite part are the baked goods, which are also baked on premises! The brownies are to DIE for and you get a huge slice. They also serve fresh juice and smoothies which I've yet to try. Egg sandwiches seem to be super popular, probably in the mornings, but I came in during the evening. Placed an order via the Bagel Pub App but it went to this location by accident due to geo-location in the app. That's my bad! But I called immediately after to try and cancel the order as a courtesy. Woman on the phone very polite, friendly. Loud male voice in the background yelled out NO, it's already made, No. I thanked the person on the phone for trying and told them to enjoy the prepared food but at least they didn't waste the iced coffee but they said that was made as well. Between the time I placed the order on the app and concluded the call was 3 minutes during morning rush hour. Email records show the order time and a follow up email that it would not be ready for 20 minutes. Nobody makes an iced coffee in advance of a pick-up. At least not when I reordered at one of the other fine locations so I don't appreciate being lied to for no possible reason. I would have accepted that they can't refund due to my error. But not the blatant lie. I did not argue and was not difficult so I would say this is the managements default attitude. I will continue to enjoy the bagels at 36th street where they have never needed to lie to me. read more

One big criticism is the 3% credit card charge. In 2019?? And in Brooklyn? Who still pays cash? And why charge the customer for that? Also, they're not very transparent about it, as the sign is placed in the most inconspicuous corner of the counter where nobody would notice. I have been a customer at Bagel Pub for a decade now and there's been issues, no business is perfect but today September 15 2021 has really ticked me off. I placed an order for an everything pumpernickel with peanut butter, arugula, tomato and avocado but when I received my order I was given chocolate spead (Nutella) but no harm, I alerted staff to the mistake and this when things went south. An argument ensue due staff vehemently protesting I am confused I don't know the difference between chocolate and peanut butter. The contents on my sandwich was very dark. A staff member brought me chocolate sauce which matched the complexion of the spead yet I was told am mistaken so I requested to take a look at the container of peanut butter and it looked like peanut butter but didn't match the complexion of the spead on the sandwich. At observing the difference and I can only assume they then realized this is a mistake I was then asked would I like another sandwich. Am angry because I have a great distaste for arguments especially when am amongst a crowd. I can no longer do business with this establishment. Call me what you want but who I Gods name can't tell the difference between chocolate and peanut butter smh. read more

I am giving this place 3 stars for a couple of reasons... First, I love their food, their variety, and the many options available! They have over 30 types of cream cheese, a whole selection of breakfast & lunch items. Plus, if you're into juices or smoothies, this is your place! The place is always very cleaned, and you can tell it takes pride in itself for that. The bad part, the staff. The staff needs a good long lesson on customer service. From the order guy to the cashier they all have attitudes, especially when they are busy. They act like you should know how the place is run, and you should know already what you want. If you have questions or are confused, they treat you like your such a problem. I usually get their ABC special on a blueberry bagel and upgrade to a large coffee (it's normally a small hot) & I swear every time I come in the price changes. Some charge me a $1 for the upgrade, others charge me $.50, some charge $.25. I wish they were consistent. I come back all the time because I love their food and options when it comes to cream cheese, but I don't expect much from their staff. Maybe check it out, and see if it's for you or not. read more

They gave me a multigrain and when I went back they said oh well we don't sell multigrain everything-didn't think to tell me that when I ordered. I love love love the bagel pub. I live by sunset park and I'll say they are pretty consistent with food, flavor, and serving size. I used to go to the location in park slope, but today was the last straw. I came in and it's almost like this lady the cashier picks on me on purpose. I always walk in and there are people serviced in front of me that I observe and when it's my time to ask for what I want or to pay something happens and she hops on the phone or on the other side of the bar. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I hate writing bad reviews, but I genuinely feel targeted by this woman. Asian lady which I hate to say, but I only have seen one Asian lady at the cashier and when I asked her name she apparently forgot it. So rude. Okay I've only lived in Brooklyn for a month, and I've been here three times. Being someone that always likes to try something new on the menu, it's not like me to go back somewhere unless it's really good. To be honest, the bagels I'm sure aren't the doughy amazing New York bagels everyone talks about that knock your socks off. But as a Floridian, they are damn good. What I love the most about Bagel Pub is the selection and prices. That's what keeps me going back. For 2 of us and a toddler, we can eat for under $20 and that includes an iced coffee and fresh squeezed juice for the tot. The iced coffee is affordable and perfectly made, with plenty of toppings and simple syrup to your satisfaction. And the cream cheese & spreads, there's like 20 - I've had the baked salmon, lox spread, egg salad, and chicken Waldorf - all amazing on a wheat everything bagel. Mm. But if you're not a bagel person, or you bring one of those people with you, I hear amazing things about their burger special $6.99 for a burger AND fries (it's on the sign outside)! They also have wraps and juice bar and smoothies and more. I think what really, really sold me though - if I'm being completely honest, these are the things that truly matter to us moms.
