Bagels are soft and obviously freshly baked. Lots of choices of bagels and schmear. Line can be long, standing room only from like 7:30am-8am. Other times though you'll only be there as long as it takes to toast. Prices are decent. About $2.75 each. Friendly atmosphere. read more

I grew up in the area but didn't discover this place until 2020. The food is delicious, well priced, and the workers are very friendly. This place is a must for locals and travelers. I've read a few bad reviews about the customer service, however, this seems to be the exception not the rule. The food is good, I'm just giving it 2 out of 5 stars because 2 of the 3 times I have purchased food here, the young girls have screwed up my order. Today I ordered a veggie sandwich, waited for my sandwich and got it, went home and opened up it and it was a breakfest bagel. Like really? I wanted cucumbers tomatoes and instead I got egg, which I totally never asked for or wanted. The prior time I asked for a club sandwich with no ham. When I get home there is no turkey but extra ham. It's just frustrating because all of the people working seem to not care or just try to rush people out with no eye contact or smiles. I've been a customer of Bagel Tyme since it first opened - which I was in middle school - wow that makes me feel old.. Obviously, my tastebuds have changed and I have tried almost everything on their menu; nothing that I have tried has ever left me disappointed. If you're in a hurry, call in your order so that when you get there it is ready. This is crucial if you go in on a weekend between 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. since that seems to be their busiest time. I have even called it in and ate it there. Though prices have gone up since they first opened (but haven't prices gone up everywhere???) it is still a treat to get when I come to Merced. Not sure what to order? I'm more of a savory bagel gal and their Pesto Parmesan, Bialy, Jalapeño, Loaded and Everything bagels are amazing. The Chive and Garlic and Herb cream cheese are a must try; you'll never taste better quality anywhere for these two flavors. For the sweet tooth's, a lot of people rant and rave over the Cinnamon Sugar bagels. My go to orders (for newbies or those looking for new orders): Breakfast sandwich on Bialy, Pesto Parmesan or Everything - Toasted - with Egg, Ham and a slice of Tomato - Lite Cream Cheese or Chive Cream Cheese on the side (KILLER!) Loaded bagel - Toasted - with Jalapeño and Cheddar Cream Cheese I'm not a coffee person, but they offer a wide arrange of beverages besides their $1 coffee. I usually get a medium size hot tea (its EXTREMELY hot) and they have a wide variety of flavors in stock. They also make lattes and smoothies plus they always have OJ and all the milk flavors available for purchase too. They also have lunch specials, but I haven't ordered a bagel sandwich from them in years. However, I use to always get turkey or ham sandwiches. You get the option of lettuce, tomato and onion on them and I always got a side of cream cheese with my order (I really love cream cheese). Friends of mine have tried their tuna and chicken salad and said they were good. If you don't live in Merced, smartest thing to do when you visit is order a bakers dozen and when you get home, cut them in half and store them in the freezer. Then you can enjoy Bagel Tyme bagels when ever you please! All in all, this is a one stop shop for breakfast and lunch if you're a bagel fanatic (like me)! read more

Best bagels, worst service! I love the food there, but it seems over the last few years the service gets slower and slower. I sat there this morning, the only person in the place, waiting on two toasted bagels with cream cheese forever while the three girls working talked about their boyfriends. It killed me!!! Bagels are my guilty pleasure. I have tried bagels from many places and Bagel Tyme by far has the best bagels EVER!!! I have to visit Bagel Tyme every time I'm in Merced. The loaded bagel, toasted with garlic and herb cream cheese is amazing. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, always a long wait. Bageltyme is by far the best bagel shop in town, whatever that may mean, but unfortunately like most small businesses, it suffers from a lack of consistency. Some days the bagels are cooked perfectly, other days they tend to be a bit overdone and crusty. Same applies to the preparation of the bagels. Some of the girls apply an overabundant amount of cream cheese, others do it just right. Regardless, the wait is always long. Even with relatively few customers in the store, on average for the three times i've been there this past month, the wait has been around 15 minutes, sometimes as long as 20 minutes. It'd be nice if management addressed those issues, or if another bagel shop opened up in town and offered some real competition. read more

Best bagels and great coffee! I prefer their coffee over Starbucks! They have so many different bagels and spreads to choose from. Yes for the price of one bagel and spread, you could probably purchase a package of regular bagels at the grocery store, but it's just not the same! I always get the pesto parmesan bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese (or everything bagel or garlic bagel with the same cream cheese) The girls there are so sweet and they remember customers and their orders so it feels welcoming when you go in there. People rave about this place. Iv'e been here several times with friends from church/school/roomates. It's cool. Its pricey for the size of bagel (smaller than costco and raley's) . THey hecka put cream cheese in your bagel which i find too much at times. They do have a wide variety of bagels, my favorite is the jalapeno. there is a long wait in line and i wish they accepted card. its cash only. they aren't open late, but they are open early. they serve coffee and tea. theres not much places to sit, it does get crowded and you can't really eat in big groups. the place is a mom and pop shop but they hire really pretty people/girls to work there. coming from a girl to girl, my guy friends always rave about it. lol maybe thats why they love coming here. I think its okay, i would rather go to raley's and buy cream cheese and bagel and eat it at home. the price is too pricey. read more

The place will have a few people and you'll be waiting in line for what feels like a lifetime. Regardless of the wait however, the bagels are pretty good. I always order the sourdough with cream cheese and the vanilla nut coffee and it's good. On the other hand some of the ladies are not so friendly, one in particular but I couldn't get her name, maybe next time. Coffee was cold. It was freezing inside and it's the middle of winter. Pretty awesome breakfast bagels with egg and your choice of meat and cheese. I liked that there was very little grease from the sausage on the bagel so it tasted very light and healthy. Prices were pretty good. My breakfast bagel with egg, ham and cheese on a sourdough bagel was 4.75. Just remember, they only accept cash or check. Loved it. I got a bagel sandwich. I think it was a pesto one and it had the perfect texture. Lightly toasted but nice and fluffy on the inside. Not a lot of grease either which was great. They also use a great pepper jack cheese. Highly recommend getting the pesto bagel with peper jack, ham, and a tomato. I will go back to try more. read more
