Busy busy place and rightfully so! Don't be intimidated by the line, the staff makes things move quickly. I ended up going with a sesame bagel with chicken salad on it (odd choice for 9 am but this is a judgement free zone). The bagel was great. Perfectly chewy with a decent amount of sesame seeds. I am pretty loyal to my Long Island bagels and it doesn't compete, but was still pretty good! The chicken salad was well textured but lacking a bit of flavor. I added some hot sauce to it which helped. Washed it down with some VERY good chocolate milk. The sitting area is kinda odd, lots of space but few tables. No reason for them not to add more! Cream Cheese and Lox on Rye Bagel: A specialty sandwich with onion, tomato and capers. I ordered this untoasted, and the bagel was fresh, with the right inner and outer textures, and classic bagel density. Generous with the cream cheese, with all of the auditions in the middle, allowing it to be eaten open faced if desired. Decent salmon. Cream cheese, a little on the cold side, but no problem. Egg Salad on Everything Bagel: my wife got this and enjoyed it. I had a tiny taste of the egg salad, which was strongly peppery. Coffee: Surprisingly good. Value: Excellent. I have a few bagel shops in Boston, Cambridge, and Newton that I'd rank ahead of Bagel World, but for a classic, New York style, non-frou-frou bagel, this is exactly the kind that scratches that itch. As a New Yorker that has transplanted to the greater Boston area, this bagel place, specifically this location is the only place I will get a bagel in MA. While I have tried many, bagel world comes closest to having bagels that are soft but still hold the firm structure of a NY bagel. Their service is fairly quick though I typically rely on ordering in ahead of time. I love that there are a ton of bagel flavors and spreads to choose from - especially when Im looking to grab bagels for a few people. While I'm not sure how long it actually takes to order in person, I appreciate the separate counter for pick up orders as it makes the whole process quick. While I like the bagels, I would skip on the coffee as the flavor isnt the best and I found it a bit watered down for my liking. Unless you ever tried bagels at Cape Cod Bagels in Falmouth, Bagel World bagels are ok. But if you want customer service, do not expect it here. At Bagel World they are just doing their job...unless you need ONE extra bagel over their limit of 13 in their "express line". Then they want you to go to the end of the line again and buy that one bagel separately... even if there is no line! I could not believe this, So to buy that one bagel, I had to pay for 13 and then get in line again. A conversation with the manager did not bring any results evcen when I brought up the fact that I am their customer since they open the store...sometime in the 90s...when that manager was not even born yet. They have several locations for starters and this location has a bunch of grumpy employees working here. They are very matter of fact regardless of it being extremely busy or you being the only person in the store. The bagels are decent compared to a "New York Style" but still think that House of Bagel is the winner in the area. I like the chicken salad sandwich on a plain toasted bagel with tomato and pickles. I stopped in for breakfast on a weekday while visiting the area. There are a few Bagel World locations but this one on Sylvan Street in Peabody had a good amount of parking, including along the side of the store and in the back. This is good, considering they appear to be a very popular morning destination. Inside they have it down to a science for how and where you order and where to stand to the side to pick up. I ordered a large hot pumpkin spice coffee (because it was November and tis' the season), the lox bagel sandwich, and a jalapeño cheddar bagel with lox cream cheese. I've eaten lox bagels all over the country and for the price ($8.18) this was decent. I'm more of a fan of the thin-sliced smoked salmon versus the thick sliced at Bagel World but they weren't afraid to pack it with red onion and capers. The jalapeño cheddar bagel was fresh and warm and the coffee hit the spot. Going here was nostalgic for me bc I went to Salem State and Bagel World was right up the street from campus. It's a local chain on the North Shore that specializes in (surprise?!) bagels. The bagels are enormous, but if you're trying to keep it low(er) carb, ask them to make your bagel skinny and they will trim and scoop out some of the middle for you. Service was fast and they make the sandwiches right in front of you. I got 2 breakfast sandwiches with extras and add-ons plus one plain bagel and the total came to $18, which I feel is reasonably priced since I'm so particular. The pricing for the extra's (eggs under $2, avocado over $2) seemed a little much, though. The egg that they give you seems to be sufficient, I would prob skip adding that next time. The bacon was a little lacking, really thin and they were a little stingy with it. Overall it was a good sandwich but def not the best, I will be back if I'm on that side of route 1 again. There is a huge dining area separate from the registers where you order. They only have maybe 8 tables there and there seems to be a LOT of wasted space. I came to Bagel World at least once a week during my time living in Beverly, MA. The bagel sandwiches are five star quality. The coffee and flavors offered are very good. You can load up a bagel (as pictured), and barely be able to fit it in your mouth. I want to give this place a five star review, but the only great thing about the business is the food. This morning I went onto the bagel world app and ordered a takeout order. I ordered it from the store in Peabody. Well, it seems that there are two stores in Peabody and I selected the wrong one. Completely my fault. However, when I went to pick up my order, I was rudely attacked by the manager on duty. I made an honest mistake and I told her that. She proceeded in chastising me that there are three times during the online order process where I was able to make sure the store was the correct one, After running through it again this seems untrue. But why would you treat a customer in a rude way for a mistake that they already admitted to be their own. I didn't even ask her to do anything. I just asked if my order was ready and when I showed her the number she said that's not the store and you should've checked online before you made the order. There's something about being kind in this world that people have completely forgotten about. I will never go to that store again, and quite honestly will never go to any bagel world again. The woman had ample time to apologize to me for yelling at me in front of a whole store full of people. If I were the owner of a chain or a small business, like this, I would not let anybody, even if it was family, speak to customers this way. That woman is rude. She obviously can't handle the stress. My guess is I'm not the only one who's made this mistake by the way she reacted . That's not a reason to attack me. Seems to me time would be better spent fixing your online ordering system so people don't make that mistake. The online order system is crap anyway. read more

What a place! I was at a wedding up in Salem over the weekend and was lucky this bagel heaven was within walking distance from the Airbnb. Right when I walked in, I knew I was at the right place! I ended up ordering three bagels because why not? I have 82 so far and have one for tomorrow morning with top-notch service and food. Not sure why the reviews here aren't more stellar... but this is my Boston go-to bagel spot (since as far back as 2016 and for my bf since 2013)! I soley come here for the bagel sandwiches but find myself (most of the time) buying half a dozen bagels plus their cream cheese spreads to bring back home for the next few days. The bagel sandwiches at Bagel World are massive and loaded! I alwayss get the smoked turkey bagel sandwich with an everything bagel, toasted, with garlic + herb cream cheese spread. These sandwiches come with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions and BABY SPROUTS (my fav part)! I loovvee the micro sprouts and omit the onions. If I'm feeling fancy, I add bacon! The combination of all of these components makes this bagel sandwich a constant winner in my book! Seriously bae-goals! The breakfast bagel sandwiches are also good too- but nothing super special. I highly recommend the wild berry bagel (their version of a blueberry bagel) for those of you who like sweet bagels (or a good salty & sweet combo), if you're just buying bagels. The strawberry lite, jalapeño lite, and the garlic + herb cream cheese spreads are on a constant rotation for me cause they're all so good! They don't have a long fridge life (as I think they're made fresh and don't have preservatives) so be sure to just order enough or they'll go to waste. The interior here is what you would expect of a busy bagel spot that is more focused on the food than the vibes. The lines are long but move fast so stand tight and you'll be up next, very soon! The staff here are diligent and are pro bagel makers- they wrap my bagels sandwiches nice and tight so they have structure and don't fall apart immediately. Two and a half really but Al hoping it was just a bad day. Went to the drive through on my way south. Usually long line but usually it moves. Not today I guess. One truck in particular took a super long time at the window. It literally took 35 minutes from the time I got in line to the time I got my food (bagel sandwich and tea). Early on Wed Dec 24th, we learned that we would be hosting visitors from Washington, DC so I pulled in and ordered a dozen bagels. Asiago, Everything, Plain - 4 each and a French toast. No raisin bagels left. Once home, we had some - but they tasted like they were at least 2 days old and the dough had no flavor. Ehh. Service wasn't great. I came in and was greeted with a glare. Hi! No response, just deadpan face. Do you have turkey here? Nods yes. Great! Can I have a turkey egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on onion bagel? Vegetables? No. (Sees avocado on prep counter) oh yes can you add avocado too?! (Rolls eyes.) Yes I was charged $11.84 was turkey, egg and cheese with 1/2 avocado on an onion bagel. I asked for the receipt and the charges do not match the menu prices. I asked for clarification and they said I ordered a smoked turkey sandwich, adding egg, extra cheese and 1/2 avo. There was no extra cheese (just one slice), nor did they put the ingredients listed in the smoked turkey sandwich. Just exactly what I ordered. To top it off, the sandwich was bland and the egg was cold and almost chalky like. I was expecting to pay some differential with avocado (maybe $1-$2) but a $5+ difference between a breakfast sandwich with bacon or sausage and a breakfast sandwich with turkey is unacceptable. I ordered an onion bagel with cream cheese from the cashier who didn't say hello, wasn't friendly, and lacked basic good manners. When she got my bagel, she handled it so roughly she scraped off virtually all the toasted onions. When she put the bagel down in front of me, I said: It looks like there's no toasted onions on it, to which she replied: Oh, I don't know, hardly a competent answer. I was at the Sylvan Street location this morning and the most unprofessional worker was present. While waiting 20 minutes for my mobile order, I was standing next to a counter and she screamed across the restaurant "mam you have to sit down waiting for mobile orders, people eat off that counter." I had a pizza bagel with caprese toppings, it was great. Not sure what makes a pizza bagel a pizza bagel but it was yummy. It was a little heavy on the balsamic, and I had to salt it for more flavor. Some kind of olive oil drizzle would've made sense. My friends got a variety of bagels and sandwiches and they mostly had good reviews, a little soggy but the bread was generally soft and noticeably fresh. Service was fine cause we mobile ordered. The custom paper wrappings and bags on the bagels were a nice touch, it all felt very classic. At that time, the woman who called herself, the manager said to me "you've come here before and asked for bagels and we always tell you to call in advance. I asked at the pickup window if everything there. I listed everything. She said yes. Handed me my card and bag. No receipt. Drove home and one sandwich and cream cheese missing. I know it's not a big deal, but in our case it was. Two kids. One sandwich. I made a second one. I called and spoke to an Emily. I was told she'd have the manager Janari call me back after the rush. Really stellar bagels, but expect a long wait. Once you get to the front of the line, your order comes out quick; but the line can get pretty long. When I got to the register, the man took my order and then left to go make it right then, so no one else's order could be taken by him until he got back. So, my sandwich was quick but I can see why the line gets long. The bagel was delicious - toasted multigrain with tuna salad, lettuce, tomato, pickles. Having lived in New York for almost 10 years, I have been on the search of my go-to bagel spot up here in Massachusetts. I think we have found the one, people! Bagel World does it right, and has so many different flavor options. Chewy and delicious bagels, good coffee, and even options to make unique bagel sandwiches. Everything I've had here was amazing, and I have now become a frequent customer! My only complaint is the service - I have had my bagel made incorrectly a few times as they were extremely busy and their staff seemed overwhelmed.
