I frequent this business and have always had a good experience until just the other day. After setting my bagel down after just a few bites I found a bandaid with dried blood stuck to the back of it. I went back in to share this with the staff and they replaced my bagel but did not seem too concerned about how unsanitary this was. I wouldn't say it's the BEST bagel I've ever had, but it was pretty good. I ordered bacon, egg, and cheese on an asiago bagel and it was still steaming hot as I was digging into it. The bagel is soft and bouncy and the fillings are just the right amount. It's a good quick meal that'll fill you up for the day. The egg was cooked nicely and the cheese was melty and stringy, which makes it a perfect combination. If you're looking for a New York bagel, and you are local, it's got a decent enough taste, but nothing makes up for the New York water obviously. We got coffees and two sandwiches from this place. The iced coffee is great! The garlic special was phenomenal, rivals bagel world's own. The only reason for the 4 stars is the Chipotle chicken was not great. I think the sandwich would make more sense with cold cut chicken instead of subway style chicken. Hands down the best bagels around. I'm from NJ so the bar has been set very high with bagels and I literally drive 20 minutes for one of these. The Food is great. Awesome Cream cheese and they actually give you a good amount. The only down fall is the terrible customer service at the Middleton location. I asked for light cream cheese which I didn't think was a weird thing to ask for considering they overflow their bagels with cream cheese, and they started mocking me in Portuguese not knowing I could understand what they were saying. The workers are so friendly and accommodating, and the bagels are as good as you get outside of Brooklyn/Queens/Manhattan - and they're pretty damn good. When a business says they "love their customers" one might expect they offer good customer service. Well, that can't be said of this place. Twice now they've shorted me on online orders. A baker's dozen is 13 bagels as long as I've been alive. Here it's sometimes 12. When you have an issue, they don't answer their phones, they don't reply to voicemails or emails and apparently aren't interested in making it right. I've always enjoyed the sandwiches here and usually the customer service is good. I sent in an order for two of their salmon bagels today. I picked up the bag on the table where they leave the online orders, but when I got to my mother's (about 15 minutes away) there was only one bagel in the bag. I called and left a message on their answering machine-no call back. I emailed them-no response. Finally, I decided to go back there. If you're a fan of the other locations then you won't be disappointed here. Very similar food, quality and service. This location is in a great area of Middleton with other shopping plazas and plenty of parking at the plaza it's located in. We stopped in on a Saturday morning and there wasn't much of a crowd. The woman who waited on us was a bit hard to understand and she forgot part of the toppings I wanted on my egg and cheese bagel which was too bad. She also burnt the bottom but sometimes that can't be avoided. My mother's bagel sandwich came out perfectly. They were out of some coffee flavors but the Hawaiian chocolate was a winner. Perfectly done and creamy. Plenty of seating and we did sit and enjoy our bagels. I'd return as it's closer than the other two locations and the bagel sandwich was just as delicious. read more

I gave Best Bagel a try based on a recommendation but I wouldn't recommend them and I won't be going back. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese, but when I watched the young woman make it, it was easy enough to see that the toaster was running too fast and it wasn't going to toast the bagel, so I made a special point to politely say: "Can you please be sure that my bagel is toasted? " She said yes, gave me my bagel and I left, but when I later opened my bagel, I quickly saw that, while the bagel had been warmed up, it was completely untoasted. This is a very simple thing to fix so I brought it back in, but when I said "Hi, I ordered a bagel toasted but my bagel isn't toasted at all, the young lady immediately, and rather rudely, directly contradicted what I had just said. I said "My bagel isn't toasted" and she replied:"Yes it is. All our bagels are toasted!" I was surprised that I had to actually point out what was so self-evident, but I said: "Well, you have my bagel. Just take a look at it and you'll see it's not toasted." She seemed highly offended that someone would point out, however politely,how she wasn't doing her job. I saw her throw away my bagel and get me a new bagel. Then, I observed her "turn the dial way up" on the toaster, and I immediately thought: I hope she isn't going to burn my bagel but, of course, when she handed me my new bagel it was black and completely burnt. It was frustrating to have to deal with an employee at a bagel shop who appeared to be seriously incompetent in terms of how to use the toaster. At any rate, I wasn't going to let such a needless inconvenience upset me so I just asked for a refund. At this point, an older woman, the cashier and possibly store supervisor, showed me a real lack of basic good manners and good judgment by saying some things to me that sounded like "How dare I point out that their employee is unable to toast a bagel! She was really consternated and quite rude. Having said all this, the bagels looked high quality and it was a nice and convenient shop, but the owner really needs to address the fact that he or she has an employee needlessly throwing away food, unable to correctly operate the equipment and, most needlessly and unfortunate, employees that present themselves to customers with a lack of basic good manners. I think if the manager had shown herself to be helpful to myself and the other employee, as opposed to consternated, unhelpful, and poorly mannered, I would go back and give it another try, but the lack of a competent staff supervisor makes me feel like I'll just not return. I wish them the best in resolving these issues. These are simple and easy issues to fix but only with the right human talent. read more
