Wow. Blueberry bagel with cream cheese. A god sent. There were blueberries in every bite. I loved all the different bagels. They had rainbow bagels and a huge variety of spreads. This is what you think should be your standard bagel shop in NJ. However it falls short of those basic expectations. Mind you there is a Panera/Dunkin Donuts right within a short walk of this place so you would think they would try a little harder. For one when I was there they didn't accept credit cards. In this day and age the local place that only takes cash is practically disappearing. Most people would rather go somewhere else if they don't have cash and again this is easy given there are such places in close proximity. The other thing is the prices are not even that competitive with a place like Panera/Dunkin Donuts. You would think you could go here and get things for less since they are the local place. Not the case. If you were to compare everything one for one it would come out much closer than you would expect. Also you kind of get the feeling that you're bothering them when you're in there which doesn't really help. In my opinion I would go elsewhere than this place. There are tons of different places in the area that will give you a much more welcome feeling when you are in them. read more

Rude, disgusting, greasy guy at the counter. Bagels are tasteless. They don't toast them. I was attempting to pay for my hard, stale, lackluster French toast bagel when the jerk says cash only. Thanks guy; I was paying in cash anyway in case you couldn't deduce that from the money in my hand. The other guy without an accent was equally as rude. I had a very unfavorable experience here this morning. The guy at the counter was very unfriendly, and even rude. I ordered a whole wheat everything scooped out with egg whites and was given a regular white everything bagel, not scooped out, with rather greasy egg whites. The bagel was not even great quality--very bready, not doughy--and almost no "everything" on it either. I also ordered a whole wheat bagel with lite veggie cream cheese but he said they are out of lite veggie. The whole wheat bagel tasted stale. When I went to pay he rolled his eyes at me and said Cash Only! I used their ATM and paid, and he did not smile or say anything...just took the money and handed me change and proceeded to lean on the counter and look at his phone. I will not be back here and advise you find another place too. There are way too many other options for bagels in this area than to waste your time here. read more

Terrible service. The older man at the counter is RUDE and OBNOXIOUS. He huffs and puffs at everything. He is the reason I will never come back.. Nice job chasing away business!! P.s. Fist day in Manalapan, we were starving so drove by this place, my wife jumped out to get 2 bagel sandwhiches. She walked out about 3 minutes later furious and told me to leave. She said the guy was nasty to her. I actually went back a few days later. She was right. Guy is a douche. Couldnt remember the orders (typically its a good thing if someone asks againe being they are ensuring they get it right, but 5 times?! and im the only one in the shop!) His attitude sucks. I honestly NEVER write reviews but I have to write one for this place so hopefully no one EVER goes here. It's funny because before I come on yelp I had said the older man who worked there is unnecessarily rude and I see everyone else consigning my sentiments so clearly it's him and not me. Went there to get bagels, got three, one with cream cheese two with butter. Their bagels are all $1.10 so when I'm told that my total is $5.32 I was confused. I know CC/butter is extra but just how much. I told my mom, she calls them and asks them how much bagels are. This is not an atypical question and it wasn't asked rudely. The old man starts giving attitude and immediately says "if you don't have money, don't buy bagels" no one said we didn't have money, we just asked why it came up to that price. He condescendingly tells us the price while saying he doesn't have time for this and that he's going to hang up. My mom then tells him to shut up and that's not the way to go about speaking to customers who ask a simple question. I wish I could give them zero stars and clearly their rating shows just how shitty of a place this is. You're better off going to Dunkin Donuts or Panera, go anywhere but here. read more

Pros - the bagels tasted pretty good the chive cream cheese was good. Cons - the older man was really rude. I don't understand why, but when I went in there for the first (and only) time I was shocked at how he seemed to have an attitude and be annoyed that I was ordering. I didn't realize that there was a $10 minimum for credit card until after he made my bagel so I had to then order more in order to make the minimum which was really obnoxious. I ordered a dozen bagels to go and as I was picking the bagels the man kept rushing me, and he ended up putting three random bagels in my bag because he didn't want to wait the few seconds for me to choose which ones I wanted. I was disappointed when I got home and was going to wrap some bagels to save them in the freezer and I realized that the bagels actually have abnormally huge holes in the middle. They really cheap out on how they make the bagels. The bagels I purchased that I didn't freeze were rock hard by the next day so they were clearly not made fresh. My brother works in the same plaza and he told me he has gone in and walked right out because of the attitude he's gotten from the same man there. Reading through reviews, that seems to be a common complaint. Do the owners not realize that it's really not a good idea to give paying customers an attitude? I gave them two stars because there was another man there helping customers and he seemed to be nice, so maybe I was just the unlucky one... I also noticed that the woman next to me ordered the same exact thing as me and she paid less... I guess if you go there try and get the "nice" guy. read more

This was the place with the guy I used to refer to as the "Bagel Nazzi"! He was cranky and nasty and did not seem to enjoy his life or his business.
