I had a desire for a bagel as did my boo, and this venue has some high ratings. So off we went! It was WELL worth the schlep from Bordentown. As countless others say: "it's hard to find a good bagel here." Yeah yeah, so go to Bagels N Cream then! They've a good product and also nice people. We didn't notice that the hours have been reduced due to COVID, although most bagel places here close around 2 and these guys are normally (pre-COVID) open til 5 on weekdays. Despite the grill being shut down, we were able to get fresh-tasting bagels at 3:20 PM the Thursday after a hurricane. No complaints on that! Bagels were what you want: pleasantly chewy (reflective of their boil), and voluminous. Not cement, nor the store bought Thomas/Lender's insubstantial garbage you'll largely encounter in South Jersey and many areas as you radiate away from the hallowed environs of NYC. Montreal also has great bagels, but that's another story... The grill was down for the day, but they were advertising a gyro that looked delicious along with a large menu of different sandwiches. Another reason to return... There are also a couple of well-stocked refrigerators with snapple & soda along with several coffee vats & hot water for tea. The lox was good and passed the "will the cat eat it?" test. Garlic bagel was pleasantly seasoned but not overpowering. Perhaps I would've wanted more garlic had there not been lox, no big deal. Oh, and my girlfriend's plain with scallion cream cheese met her exacting "I'm from Long Island so I'm the arbiter of good bagels" standards! Today I saw why Bagels N Cream has been around for many years and will hopefully stick around for many more. Good quality, friendly yet efficient staff, and great selection. I got a sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel, and it was delicious! I also got some coffee for my wife and she really enjoyed it, so big thumbs up for that. I really enjoy bagels( bread in general truth be told) and they have been a lunch staple for me recently. I ashamedly admit that I usually buy them at my supermarket, with less than perfect results. On this day however I decided to hit the bagel shop before the grocery store, and with one visit I'm a fan. Even late in the lunch hours this place was doing a brisk business with baskets full of bagels still. I gawked and tried to take in all of the flavors, one of my favs was represented, old school pump/rye. When my turn to order came I asked for 8 along with 2 cinn raisin and 2 everything. Also grabbed a container of cinn raisin cream cheese and a choc muffin. I thought I'd be able to wait but ended up eating half of a naked rye on my way to Shoprite. Dense, chewy and very good flavor. Toasted and with butter or cheese they are even better. The cream cheese was pretty good too, not overly sweet and something I'd splurge on once in awhile. With only one visit I'm reluctant to say this is the best in the area. My old fav which is now under a different owner had more interesting varieties, I was hoping to try some kind of cheese bagel but they weren't offered on this day. But I'll definitely be back for more pump/ryes and I'll check out that blueberry crunch one too. read more

I called in an order to Bagels N Cream yesterday and was told it would be about 20 minutes because they were busy. No problem. When I got there, there's a sign on the door that says due to credit card fees, they are no longer accepting credit cards and are cash only, but they do have an ATM inside. I don't have enough cash to cover my order so I decide to go to the ATM. It's $2.50 to use the ATM and my bank charges $3 (which I get that Bagels N Cream has no control over.) I've now spent $5.50 just to be able to purchase my order. There is still a long wait because there are SO many people there so I go check out their website, which still says they accept credit cards. When my order is ready, I go to pay and hand them one of their "frequent customer cards" to get my hole punched for my order and she says that they don't do that anymore. So I told her how unhappy I am with my visit, how I had to pay $5.50 to get the cash to cover my order and now they're not honoring the punch cards either. (why not just finish out the ones they've already handed out and not give out any more?) they are obviously super busy and every table outside was filled as well. The owner came over and said that he wishes I would have let him know because they still have the credit card terminal open. How would I know that? There are "cash only" signs everywhere. He did offer me 4 free bagels, which I appreciate but didn't really want or need. The world is trending towards digital payments, not away from them. Why not increase your prices like every other business is doing? $.50 per sandwich would hardly be noticeable in this climate and would easily cover your fees. I was not at all happy with my visit and intended to only leave one star. But I did have to increase a star because the employees there were obviously working very hard and still had a smile on, and the owner did at least try to make up for something by offering the four free bagels. Bagels N Cream, you have a good product. Have faith in that, and in your loyal customers! The pandemic has made us rely on digital payments even more.
