I'm puzzled by the low ratings this establishment receives on the internet. Online reviews suggest that people are very difficult creatures to satisfy. I entered the Jersey Mike's in Hamilton Square because their chicken salad sub had made one of its brief, limited-time appearances. When this specific mixture of chopped poultry and mayonnaise returns to the menu, I feel a strange personal obligation to consume it before it vanishes back into the corporate ether. The three young men working behind the counter were bantering cheerfully with one another. They were not putting on a fake performance of corporate enthusiasm. They genuinely seemed to enjoy existing in the same room. Nobody appeared miserable. Nobody was staring into the fluorescent lighting pondering the futility of human labor. They were simply three adolescents having a good time while wrapping food in butcher paper. My sandwich was constructed quickly and correctly. The chicken salad was cold, creamy, and properly seasoned, which is everything one can reasonably ask of dead bird on a roll. The entire transaction was pleasantly uneventful. Central New Jersey is a dangerous territory in which to evaluate a sandwich. We are surrounded by independent delis operated by fiercely competitive humans who will happily debate the structural integrity of a hoagie roll for an hour. Jersey Mike's is a massive corporate franchise born on the Jersey Shore, so it does not possess the soul of a family corner store. Yet sometimes one does not want an adventure. Sometimes you simply want predictable consistency and a limited-run chicken salad sub. For that purpose, this Hamilton location performed its duty with unexpected grace. read more

This location CONSISTENTLY messes up the orders. Order a turkey club and they'll leave bacon off the sandwich. Order the stickball special and you wont receive salami. Tonight, I ordered a menu option as-is, Mike's way, and received a sandwich with add-ons I didn't even request (pepperoni, mayo, banana peppers). I'm not exaggerating when I say 99% of my orders from this location have been wrong. It's like they don't train employees on the menu and just let them make whatever they want. read more

I've been here a couple of times, and both times they prepared my food quickly and it tasted just fine. The location is pretty convenient (right off of 33) and I've never had any issues with parking. Granted, I don't think Jersey Mike's is a perfect sub shop or anything, but the food is pretty fresh and it's a decent lunch spot. My sister in law ordered from Jersey Mike's for a small birthday party. We are used to ordering from other sub places where the sizes are fairly standard-half is 6in, full 12in and giant or party size 18-24". She ordered 2 "giant subs" and 3 "regular" subs. The cost was $20 for the giant and $10 for the "regular." The "giant" subs were 12 inches long! Regular is 6 inches! Lengths of subs are not noted anywhere-the closest they get is saying a giant will feed 4 adults. The prices and sizes do not match up and we're very disappointing. $75 worth of subs and there wasn't enough for everyone. Please Jersey Mike's, post the sizes of your subs so people can decide if they are ordering enough. read more

I was in town for business and foudn that there was not much in the immedidate area so good to see that I didn't have to have the same lunch 2 days in a row, although my meal the day prior was delicious. Since I was in the mood for a sub, I decided to go to Jersey MIke's. The restaurant was very clean when I entered and was happy to be greeted by the gentleman behind the counter. I placed my order for a veggie sub, chips and drink. While pricier than my meal the day prior for the same amount of food, it was very tasty so I'm surprised at some of the ratings I saw. I didn't notice the change as I hadn't gone there in years, and have noted in a previous review that this area did not seem to be in need of another sandwich shop, chain or otherwise. And with a mega Wawa popping up very close, I still wonder if opening at this location was a wise business choice. But I digress....A coupon in the monthly mailer caught my eye, buy 1 cheesesteak and fries, get one free. Looking for some relief from the holiday spending frenzy I came here with my uncle and aforementioned coupon. We were greeted right upon entering and noted that the shop was clean and had about 10 tables to chose from. We placed our order at the grill( presumably manned by the manager), was handed a slip of paper and paid at the register. It seemed to be 3 minutes later that our food was brought over wrapped. These were decent sized and contained nice portions of meat, cheese and their signature fried peppers and onions. And on this frigid day were steaming hot, up to and including the final bite. My 2 minor criticisms would be to allow for more of a sear on the meat and to toast the bread a bit. The fries were natural cut and good, if I went again I'd ask for them to go easy on the salt though. We were both pleased with our sandwiches, however, we felt that a shop closer to us is better and a few $ cheaper. The coupon leveled the playing field. A little smaller than I had anticipated, but the Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak sub really hits the spot, also because it's warm. They have a really nice aesthetic in making these subs look very neat and therefore quite appetizing. But they added in mayo to another sub I ordered when I specifically told them not to, twice. We were at this location about 2 months ago and I could say enough about the quality of the food. The bread was fresh there meats were filling and tasted very fresh. TODAY HOWEVER we returned and I was so disappointed. I ordered the same sub. Roast beef special and I literally had to look for the beef. The sandwich was all bread and condiments. Nick and Dee didn't flinch they were friendly and courteous, and promptly made the food for my family and I. These two are amazing and exemplify what customer service should be. We ordered the regular big Kahuna cheesesteaks and two large cookies. First off, the website says a regular size cheesesteak feeds two people. Ummm no, they're 6-inches. So $9 for a 6-inch??? Their cheesesteaks aren't THAT good. Then the cookies they gave us were the small ones and they were hard as a rock, super crunchy. Not decadent at all. Just a quick note of thanks. We were in late a few weeks back on a Friday evening, a little after 8 o'clock. After their reassurance that they were open til 9, and we weren't the customers who enter right before the place closes, we ordered our hoagies. When I asked the woman at the counter to please change her gloves, and explained about my allergy, she used the words "possible cross-contamination," and went into the back to get me fresh toppings for my sandwich. Her thought was that it guaranteed nothing had been touched by a glove that had trace amounts of my allergen. I was flabbergasted; allergies are a pain in the butt to begin with, but her knowledge, kindness, and compassion were off the charts (seriously, almost no one knows what cross-contamination is and there are no words for how much that gesture was appreciated). The food is always good here but the service is terrible today. We entered the location and there was no one in the restaurant and every table is dirty. My husband asked for a rag to clean the table off and the response he got was "theres napkins on the table" and no one in location smiled or was pleasant. I happened to be visiting a store right next to a Jersey Mike's in Hamilton, NJ. Heard good things about the sub chain so I decided to order two subs to take home. A medium Veggie, about $8, and a large Super Sub, about $15-$16. Someone nearby informed me before going into the store that the subs were a step above Wa-Wa but I kind of chuckled and went in. Well, the subs were a step below Wa-Wa. I can't remember ever eating a sub that had less meat on it and was already soggy by the time I got home. The Super Sub was three meats and provolone. Quite frankly, I told my wife while eating that I could not taste the meat, period. I actually opened the sub to see if there was any meat. Not much to be found, unfortunately. The Veggie sub was essentially the condiments you put on a sub to dress it up. The Super Sub was extremely disappointing and way over-priced and the Veggie sub was way over-priced for what you received. The only upside was that the rolls seemed fresh and the staff was nice. My first visit to a Jersey Mike's ironically became my last visit, too. Very disappointed. read more

Meh is the right word. The hoagie was large and tasty, roll was good, and there was a generous amount of meat and cheese. The sandwich was overflowing with shredded iceberg lettuce which I could do without. I have to say that there was not a huge difference between this sandwich and the one I could get at Wawa for half the price. My large sandwich was $13.65 which was about twice the cost of a similar product from down the street. And on top of that, this place really encourages you to leave a tip for the people behind the counter. There is a BIG sign on the tip jar asking you to leave a tip, and the credit card machine asks you, would you like to tip 5 dollars, 10 dollars---? What the hell! Tips are usually not mandatory at a place where you order at the counter. There is no tip jar at McDonalds or Panera or Chipotle. If they are charging so much, they should not have a problem paying their people a fair wage and they shouldn't put the customer on the defensive for not leaving a tip after paying such high prices. read more
