I've been coming here for a while, so I know what their usual turnaround time is, it's fast. Today was the opposite. I called in my order, spoke to someone who told me it would be ready soon. I got there within 10 minutes. When I arrived, the cashier said it wasn't ready yet but took my payment. I waited. But I ended up sitting there for almost 30 minutes. People who ordered after me, in person, were getting their food before I even got an update. Eventually the cashier came back to ask me again what my order was... meaning it was never made in the first place. Mistakes happen, but what bothered me most is that no one apologized or acknowledged the situation, just silence and sloppiness. If I'm paying and showing up early after calling ahead, the bare minimum is to actually put the order in and communicate. Super disappointing experience. read more

The kid working the register was so polite and made my coffee just right. My sandwich was delicious and the prices very reasonable. Really great bagels. The egg and cheese sandwich is a little lacking, I recommend ordering 2. Be prepared when you pay with a card because the cashier asks "would you like to add gratuity " every time and you feel pressured to tip them obviously because you're standing there looking them in the eyes, while they hold the Credit Card scanner expectedly, so you do tip them so you don't seem like an a-hole, but then you see them add a little tally to the loooong list on the counter of everyone that has tipped before you. It's gotta be at least 100 people in front of you that have tipped them. You know they deserve it but you feel dumb already overspending on breakfast. You tell yourself that next time you'll just nicely say no and apologize, even though you know you won't. You're not that strong. read more

A classic location in Bristol offering a large selection of cream cheese with some odd flavors that may make your head tilt sideways. Samples a plenty as you can try them before buying them. I stick with my classic; an everything bagel toasted with sausage, egg and cheese. All prepared right on the other side of the window, you'll be walking out with a fresh sandwich that isn't super crunchy but crunchy enough. A hard exterior with a soft exterior that I've grown to enjoy and appreciate. Can get super busy in the mornings so come get them while they are hot. read more

Stopped in for a bagel Saturday morning around 945, line was not long, bagels looked a little low but they had a fresh batch of everything, which is what I was after anyway. My bacon egg and cheddar was done quickly and toasted to perfection. Bagel texture fluffy and moist with crispy shell. Quite delicious. I was in a few weeks ago and the line was to the door and it took much longer, but it was equally as delicious. They have a number of sweet and savory cream cheeses, including mango, bacon and horseradish, scallion, and more. The bacon and horseradish is great - not too spicy, but with enough of a taste of both items to make for a satisfying breakfast. I have not tried any of the non-bagel items, but they do also have breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Parking is easy as they are located in the same plaza as Starbucks and a number of other businesses. Seemed a little pricier than the average breakfast. They had a bunch of hot coffee flavors, but only a limited number of iced coffee flavor options. I ordered a specialty flavor of iced coffee and was shut down because they only made that flavor in hot coffee. The overall layout was a bit confusing and stressful. The bagel flavors are all on one side of the cashier and the cream cheese flavors are on the other. Would have been nice if everything was in one place or on the menu on the wall. The last time I went here, my bagel & cream cheese were amazing-like I got one right in NYC. Today, my bagel was doughy, lumpy, floury & overly chewy-like they didn't bake it long enough. The bagel just wasn't toasted enough and the cream cheese was cold so the bagel would have tasted much better if they actually toasted it longer. But today topped it, first of all a bagel store you don't have many other choices except bagels so if you are out of them at 8:45 in the morning not good. In the 2 years I have gone in and they have been out of my favorite bagel many times. Oh well new owner getting used to things I get it, I have given it long enough to get used to it. Problem is the owner is never in the store, that is a huge problem, today all 4 bagels we wanted they were out of. Then we ordered 2 they had it was our 5th choice but the kid was kind of poking around and someone else took the 2 bagels we wanted. We left and went to the Plainville store instead. It seems they get lots of the Bristol business. It really is to bad I knew Bruce an Simon who single handedly built this store into a very nice business. We went in at least 4 or 5 times per week. Now I am lucky if I visit once a month and then they are usually out of what I want. Aha! I finally made it in to Bagels Plus to make a review. I say finally because with the early daytime hours (they close at 2 pm), I never seem to make it there on time! This bagel shop is a hole in the wall inside a strip mall with a Starbucks on the end- which is a perfect complement to the bagel BTW. There isn't really a decor- it's a bit grungy, but clean, and it definitely has the look and feel of a small business. It is long and narrow. You could eat in there, as there are some booths for 2, but you really wouldn't want to eat inside... or at least I wouldn't. The ceilings are really high and it feels almost like you're in a warehouse or a chic hipster bagel house. BUT- the prices are definitely more mom and pop and less chic hipster. 3 toasted bagels and cream cheese cost me less than $8.00. They make the bagels and cream cheese on site. There were all the typical bagels you'd expect- plain, blueberry, onion, egg, everything, cheddar, and some you wouldn't expect, like sundried tomato and French toast. I got an egg bagel with pineapple cream cheese- which has real pineapple bits stirred in to the cream cheese. It was really good. I wish the bagel was a little more chewy to be honest. It kind of resembled an easy to break apart regular bread roll. Almost like a Kaiser roll. The pineapple cream cheese was out of this world awesome though, so I probably would have eaten it off a Kaiser roll to be honest! The staff was friendly- it was 4 teen girls, one starting her very first shift. The service was a little slow considering I was the only customer there, but it's not like I could toast a bagel any faster- so I didn't mind. Overall, I definitely recommend them for to-go orders, and I'd probably get a different bagel next time. They also take credit and debit cards, so that's convenient. There's also a cash tip jar (but no way to add a tip on a card) so if you're the type that likes to tip to-go service, be sure to bring some spare change! read more

This place used to be the best bagels in Bristol. Old owners sold the business and its since gone far down hill. Even the 2 star rating might be generous. 1. Waitstaff or employees are rude. Came in with 3 adults and 2 kids. Ordered 4 bagels 4 coffees, and a drink. Some bagels with spreads one as a sandwich. Apparently we were taking too long as the guy taking the order with his backwards cap was rolling his eyes and making faces. One other guy had his pants falling down with his crack exposed. Very tasteful, and appetizing.........nothing like hairy you know what at 8:30am. 2. Bagels weren't actually toasted. When we asked for toasted. 3. Iced machine for iced coffee down. 4. Just watch employee touch head and hair didn't wash hands or glove up and then proceeded to work on someone's order. Yummy. So, in the end. Aside from DD, I'm not sure where else in the area to get bagels. However, just be prepared for awful service. Ask for the bagel to run through the toaster twice.
