I went to pick up items for takeout. The cashier had no mask and several other food prep employees did not either or were wearing them under their chins. Sorry, but not going back if you don't care enough about your customers to have your employees wear masks. And before you tell me that they have medical or religious exemptions, please consider that those employees should NOT be in contact with the public during a pandemic. Fresh bagels and eggs, good counter service. They now accept credit cards. I had a cheddar omelet with a sesame seed bagel, plus oatmeal. The bagel was fresh, and excellent. Cheddar Omelet was not oily or greasy, and the cheese tasted fresh. The oatmeal is ordinary... it needs the the brown sugar and raisins they offer. About the service... I've never sat at a table here, only at the counter. I eat deli and enjoy a good breakfast, but this was the worse experience in my life. I'll address the food only because atmosphere and staff service was just fine. Starting with the espresso, it was bad. It came cold. Espresso, not warm but ice cold. The server responded by taking it back probably throwing it in a microwave and then returning it to me. The cup was almost too hot to hold and when I could try to drink it was bitter. When I first drank it and it was cold it wasn't bitter, rather it was just cold. As my kids say, it was yucky. Then I got my lox, onion, and eggs and truly they were the worse in my life. I generally don't do bad reviews, but my eggs were disgusting. The eggs were runny and I had more large discolored onions then anything else in the mix. We've all had eggs which have started to go bad at home and use it anyway ,that's how I felt with my plate. I want to end this review on a positive note, the rye bagel was superb. Baked correctly, toasted nicely, and served with real butter. I've been here several times, and I'm finished with this place. Take-out service is just horrible. There is nothing but total chaos at the front counter. The people who work there are so hassled that they continuously get things wrong. On my last visit, I asked for 6 pumpernickel bagels. When I got home, I found I only had five. I suspect that the owners have never tried a mystery shopper to give them some genuine feedback about the front counter, but take it from me, life is too short to have to put up with that kind of tsuris. Second, this place is seriously expensive. Those six bagels and two packages of Tate's cookies came to $21. That's ridiculous, and shame on me for paying without first questioning it. I'm sure I was overcharged because the counter person got my order confused with someone else. To then get shortchanged on the bagels... well, suffice it to say it's the last time I set foot in Bagelworks. If you're a connoisseur of good bagels, try Way Beyond Bagels or Brooklyn Waterworks. I can't say that their service is any more personalized, but it definitely isn't chaotic and I feel confident that their employees can count to 6. read more

I would like to give Bagelworks 3.5 stars but I can't say I feel compelled to give it 4 stars. The food options are good and I have enjoyed a variety of breakfast dishes and sandwiches for lunch. The orange juice is great here, too. However, the meals lack a freshness and if you're not willing to pay $0.99 for a fruit cup that's tiny, made up of usually just cantaloupe and honeydew, and barely mediocre, you may not feel satisfied after eating. You also may feel slightly neglected by the servers or impatient by the line you almost always have to wait on when you come in. That's all I'll say on the line because it's typically fast and not a big deal, however if they freshened up the atmosphere and service, and spiced up the food, this place would be more appealing than it already is. I continue to come here and enjoy it, but improvements can be made. read more

Been going to BW for over 20 years. Through 1 or 2 ownership changes and the latest owner Rob is doing things right. The way he/they stepped up during Covid has been remarkable. They were one of the first "take-out places to start doing Biz after the "lockdown." They really wanted to make sure their customers were taken care of. And the way they're cleaning tables is second to none. Bottom line... really trying hard. I just read the various ratings that were 3-stars or less. Things like, "how can they not have a full menu?", or "the bagel I got wasn't perfect", or finally, "the older lady was rude." It's laughable. Getting food from vendors is not SO easy during Covid. I'm sure Rob would have a full menu if he could. Yet, they have pretty much all the "favorites" still available. As far as the old lady comment... aside from being rude in their choice of words, they don't understand what a "Jewish Deli" is like. Allow me to clarify. They're not rude. They're beyond busy. And like all Jewish Deli's, perhaps a little rough around the edges. Frankly, it's part of the charm. As far as their bagels are concerned, I've eaten pretty much every bagel in a 20 mile radius, and I can tell you that there are a few close 2nd place bagel shops around town. And nobody does bagels like Bagelworks! Sure, every so often a bagel or two is darker than I'd prefer. So, I simply ask for "poppy that's cooked light." It's that simple. Ok, finally, the food... I dare you to find better tuna salad or whitefish salad I'm not only Florida, but I'm New York as well. Hint... you won't! Their Nova is fantastic. They now have these clever electric fish slicers that do a great job in keeping things thin. Huge omelettes! Really, extremely delish. And finally, the waitresses... It's awesome seeing some of the same faxes since my kids were babies. Now in high school. Yet, almost every time we're there, they remember our kids. And, they work hard! Quick service! Rude Rude - did I say Rude!!!! The hostess at the front is beyond- If she doesn't already know someone should tell her she's in the hospitality business and that means to be hospitable to customers. As we proceeded to wait online she let two or three parties in front of us after she kept telling us we're next. Another couple was arguing with the manager about how she asked them to remain outside so they got seated. An elderly woman with her daughter and nurse were also seated before us after they were behind us in line with the same number of people in their party. The food is not that good and doesn't warrant the wait. The reason they are getting one star is because our waitress happened to be pleasant and accommodating. I must say, even though I did not have the tuna at today's visit, I HAVE had it in the past, and I whole heartedly agree with everyone else when I say that yes, it IS phenomenal tuna. We actually did get a super nice server and she seated us once 3 out of the 5 of us were here. Oh also, just FYI, they do not let you bring in your own coffee,other beverages, or foods. I brought in coffee from another restaurant and they told me it was not allowed. They DO seem to have a lot of rules here, but the fantastic food makes up for it. I ordered the 2 eggs;which came with potatoes and a bagel. It was all delicious. Others in my party ordered the challah French toast and I tried it and almost wished I had ordered it also. So soft and moist! Portions are very large here, so if your appetite is small, consider sharing, or bringing home.
