Although I have bought bagels from here several times (and it is my favorite bagel in SoFL, as shown in my Bagel Bastard series), I've never actually eaten in the restaurant until today. The menu encompasses breakfast/diner stuff with curated Jewish deli classics. Rachel and I had lunch with a visiting friend from the DC area; we had a hard and soft salami sandwich combo (with rye bread baked on-premises) and a legit matzo ball soup; my wife had a off the frame turkey melt (perfect well done french fries) and our friend had a "Veggie Tuna Platter" with a bagel. And of course, we brought a dozen home.

I stopped in to grab breakfast after a shopping trip in the plaza. This is the kind of no frills, frequented by locals, type of establishment that I love. Bagels are based on a 140 year plus recipe developed by Moshe Zlotnicov from Kiev, Ukraine. The recipe was brought to the U.S. by his son Abraham who passed it on to his son and Samuel who passed it on to his son Norman who operates Bagel City with his wife and son-in-law. All bagels and pastries are baked fresh daily. It is not often you get to try a 150 year old bagel recipe so I ordered an everything bagel. It was delicious, crispy on the outside with all of the flavorful seasonings, and soft and doughy on the inside. I wish I had picked up some more to go. They serve breakfast and lunch and have indoor and outdoor seating. The pastries looked delicious and they had a refrigerator case stocked with hearty soups. I look forward to visiting again and trying more of the menu.

Nice small compact cafe like shop. It gives you the vibes of an old school deli. I went in and got an order of sweet potato fries. The fries took about 10 minutes and they were fresh and delicious. The order of fries were a large portion so the $7 charge is valid. I also got an apple juice that came out to $3.50. Nice and fulfilling snack and I would order them again.

The Rachel Sandwich - hot pastrami, sauerkraut and melted swiss on grilled rye. SO YUMMY!

They never have what you want off the menu after 1 pm. They don't even offer something that's not applesauce. Disgusting

Bagels and cream cheese, as well as the crumb cake are amazing! Our go to spot for bagels in Boca!

They are known for their "legendary tuna" and rightfully so. Hands down, the best around. I love the baked salmon salad and the cucumber salad. It's all delicious. There are no bad choices here, as it's all pretty fabulous. Throughout the years, I have been here for breakfast multiple times, and they have a nice selection of breakfast specials. You can't go wrong with any of their cream cheese spreads. I usually stick with the nova or veggie, only because they are my favorites. Bagelworks has been around forever and they have the reputation for being the best in Boca, and I couldn't agree more, as they really are the very best!

I ordered a…read moremake-your-own salad with romaine, chickpeas, tomatoes, cucumber, and egg, and asked for bagel chips on the side. Unfortunately, the bagel chips turned out to be cinnamon-flavored, which I really don't like and wasn't expecting at all. When I mentioned it, the waitress said that's all they had--but it would have been helpful if she had told me that so I could choose something else. To her credit, she did bring me a toasted everything bagel (scooped out) instead, but by then it had already disrupted the meal a bit. The issue wasn't just the food, but the communication--if I had known ahead of time, the experience would have felt much smoother. My husband had a pastrami with cheese sandwich and loved it, and my son enjoyed his strawberry cream cheese bagel. Portions were generous--I ended up taking home half my salad and half the bagel. Overall, I'd say it was just okay. Next time, I'd probably stick with something more predictable like an omelette and double-check any sides. This seems like the kind of place where it's best to go with the "known wins."

Aside from the questionable plaza, the free parking was plentiful and directly in front of the eatery. Ordered several sandwiches at the walk up take out window that posed some confusion by two servers. My attempt for them to crack a smile was futile. But the food was prepared quickly and looked and smelled fantastic. The pastrami (does NOT include melted cheese as a standard topping - $2 more !!!) sandwiches were NOT oversized with two small sides (cole slaw was great but fries limp) for the hefty price of $18.00 which may strain a few wallets. The inside was very basic and required a face life unless the intent was to keep a retro image. The gender assigned bathroom was basic and clean with brown porcelain floor tiles and an oddly positioned dining room chair next to the garbage can. Basically, this was a legit jewish style deli with very good tasting pastrami sandwiches and a tiny kosher spear pickle. Did not really anticipate anything extravagant.
