Super friendly business owners serving fresh baguettes. Today we tried 3 different kinds and enjoyed them all in their own ways. One minor minus was she forgot to pack our jalapeños. Current promo is b5g1, so it's about $35 for 6 loaded sandwiches. They also offer other Vietnamese food and specialize in dairy free boba drinks. Their breads are made fresh in house. Crispy on the outside but won't cut your gums. Fluffy on the inside to soak up all the delicious butter aioli and pate. For me her pate spread is a bit more on the savory side for my taste. You can request easy spread. All the meats were flavorful and tender. Pickles veggies and cilantro were all fresh. I'm glad to have a new favorite spot for the north side of town. Saw people post on FB about this place, so since I was in the area, I had to give it a try. It is a decent size place, with plenty of room to sit. I'm not sure how long they have been open, but everything looks pretty new. The first thing that might stand out when looking at the menu is the price, but I will give my take on it in the end. The menu is fairly simple, offering up banh mi, rice plates, noodle bowls and teas. Since they are known for their banh mi, I got the combination banh mi and the xiu mai (meatball). Both sandwiches were packed with meat, so much that when you bite into them, it is pushing out the other end. Flavor and taste for both were spot on. There are a lot of OG banh mi shops in Houston and if this place was on Bellaire, it could definitely hang with the best of them. The owners are super friendly. Auntie did not recognize me, so she asked if it was my first time and where did I hear about them. She was so happy to see that people from all over Houston was coming by to try her banh mi. When I left, she wished me well and hope to see me again. Back to pricing. $6.95 for a banh mi is not what most people are used to, when they are buying on Bellaire. However, this is not on Bellaire, this is on the Northside on Veterans Memorial. There are other factors that come into play also, but if you want a damn good banh mi and you are near Beltway 8 and Veterans Memorial, stop by and support the business. So far, this is the best place for banh mi in this area of town. Our family loves the fried rice with shrimp too. We order here probably weekly to get in our Vietnamese comfort fix. I adore the husband and wife that owns and runs the shop, super sweet and kind. They make their own bread and the banh mi is perfect. I came here this past Saturday on 8/18/23 with much anticipation since I saw this on someone's Instagram post. However, I was met with very much disappointment. I waited at least 45 mins to an hour, same with everyone ordered during that day. Apparently they were short staff. I mean that was fine but one thing I must pointed out though. There was a young lady working in the front that day and she was most unpleasant person. She made no initiatives to help the bosses with the busy shop. She barely did what she was told and even when she was told, she hardly wanted to move. The store was so busy but she made no attempt to say hello to any customers who walked in the store. She would just stared on the floor or stared at whatever. I dont care If she was new. That is common sense and need not to be taught. The owners tried their best to do whatever they could, but their employee action or lack of it was very aggravating. They got one of my drink orders wrong but that was fine.
