I was a firm believer in their old location and was disappointed they were moving further from my work. Recently, I returned again around 3pm on a weekday and there was only one couple dining in at the time. I took a look at their specials and opted for something different this time. Eggplant Parmesan on Foccacia! I paired it with my favorite chips and salsa and even a s'mores cookie. Service was great this time and food came out in a timely matter! I gave a rating of 1, but did not eat anything there. I have walked in 3 times. The first time there was one person sitting at the counter. I think there are 2 or 3 seats at the counter and around the corner maybe 5 tables. It wasn't busy. There is an area outdoors where sometimes the tables are set up to eat outside, but on that day it wasn't open. It looked like something was wrong with something and the person behind the counter was trying to fix it. She did not acknowledge me or even say I'll be with you in a moment. I chalked it up to she was just busy. I left. The second time, again I walked in and the person behind the counter did not acknowledge my presence although they were not busy. I looked at The menu on the wall and waited a few minutes and then left as I had my 3 1/2 yr old grandson with me and he was antsy. 3rd time was today. Again, I walked in and was not acknowledged even though it wasn't busy. A simple" i'll be right with you" would have kept me waiting. The menu looks like they might have good food. I don't know if the person behind the counter is the owner, and just doesn't care about new customers or reviews, or if she is a worker and just doesn't care and the owner accepts her attitude. Very cute little sandwich place. We're vegan so I ordered the veggie sandwich to share with my partner. It was good; the ciabatta was pretty hard but that was the only vegan bread, the other had cheese on it. The fillings included sprouts, cucumber, tomato, hummus, and red onion. I loved the hummus and I loveeeee sprouts in my sandwich so I was pretty happy just would have preferred a softer bread. The sandwich was also a bit small I wasn't full but satisfied. I came here because my sister really enjoyed this place. So I had to check it out. When I arrived, I must have came when there was a lunch rush because the line was out the door but there was only about 4-5 parties in front of me. I think there's a short room for a long line, that's why. So I decided to try their smoked tri tip, and my friend tried their 3 little piggies. I was told their chips and salsa is good, so I got that as my side instead of the broccoli salad. Since I came here during a small lunch rush during the weekend, I was a little impatient for my food. I would say it took about 15 minutes, I didn't quite time it. Also, if you ask for a water cup, their water is infused with cucumber. I think the portion is decent and the salsa definitely has a kick. I like the crispness of the chips. The little piggie was a decent sandwich. I also like the sauce in the tri tip, but the bread to meat ratio didn't quite hit the spot for me. I am the type who likes a greater meat to bread ratio. Overall, it was a decent lunch spot. Having been a fan of the old location I was excited to watch this Elk Grove family run business expand and triple their space! The new location has the same charm of the old location... This place is okay. I would definitely say if you're craving a sandwich in particular that you could get better sandwiches elsewhere. I came here with my friend Kimberly for lunch. At least two in the kitchen, two at the counter and there were three what it seemed like family-members or family-friends having wine/lunch at a table (they started talking to us and from the conversation we did find out they work there too). Overall, it could have been much cleaner especially for how empty it was. The service- I don't really have anything bad or good to say about the service, it was standard. The overall atmosphere- I do think the place is really cute and could be a great place to have a lunch date or a 1:1 with a friend. I woud come back here and maybe just have some coffee or something, since it's relatively secluded, quiet and private - I'm sure it's not always like that but if it was. Seriously, its one of the simplest sandwiches in the world.....but somehow you found a way to screw that up. I have been coming here for a long time, and the amazing little place that churned out top shelf food has been replaced by a weak facsimile of itself. My only complaint before was the wait time, but i was willing to deal with that because your food was so amazing. Then you got rid of the thanksgiving sandwich (seriously still have dreams about that thing) and things have been in a downward spiral ever since. You have committed the cardnal sin of restaurants, you now offer so many things that you can do none of them well. Oh yea, your pasta salad sucks, seriously, id get more flavor if i ate raw noodles. PLEASE, I implore you, sit back, take a hard look at what you are doing and go back to how things were. The employees seemed miserable and they didn't wear gloves when making the food. Using their bare hands to put my food together.
