One of the best places for take-out in Fairfax. Both their bowls and their sandwiches are great. The staff are always friendly. Not any real options for eating inside and a few stools outside. All the ingredients were great and the taste was great. The sandwich was constructed poorly and hard to eat. I had the Korean chicken sandwich; the chicken was bunched on one side and the veggies on the other side. Every bite, a bunch of ingredients fell on to my plate. Stopped by this place today for "The Traditional" which I loved. I've had many banh mi sandos, both cheap and fancy, including a few in Hoi An Vietnam where they originate from. Not bragging, just saying I have a taste for them, and Bah Mi Ba's was excellent. Great ingredients and, most importantly, terrific bread. I get that the prices are high, but wake up people! We were looking for a place to grab lunch on our way home. Found this shop - ordered online and popped in to pick it up. We both got the fried chicken sandwich. It was delicious (and huge). We could have split one but now we'll have another for when we get home. The bread was fresh and crunchy, as were the vegetables. The chicken had a great spicy sauce on it. They had some fun potato chip options too (I had basil chips). The order was ready quickly and the person who helped me was very nice. We would definitely come back! read more

We ordered a char siu bowl and the Korean fried chicken banh mi. Flavors were there, especially the char siu bowl. Portions were underwhelming for the price; especially the banh mi - very small sandwich. I've never paid $14 for a banh mi. Maybe in Marin you can get away with it? The food is actually five star delicious but this is the second time we have tried to place an order online without it going through. The first time, we went to the restaurant only to be told that they had sold out of about everything so they were closing early. Tonight we tried to place an order online, no luck; then called, no answer. Had planned on their delicious food tonight so now we have to figure out another option. Okay then--this is the real deal!! I ordered the veggie "Impossible larb." It was fantastic. First of all a great Bahn Mi begins and ends with the bun--after all this is a colonial FrenchVietnamese concept. Think epic French baguette meets Vietnamese salad. I think I recognize the bread/bun the use as La Brea Bakery? Maybe not but they nailed it with a tasty sturdy bun. The sandwich was layered with pickled veggies perfectly crisp and delicious--all the complex flavors coming through; sweet vinegar, jalepeno, carrots and daikon radish--highlighted by cilantro and perfectly complimented by the lemongrass featured in the Impossible Larb. I was indeed impressed and will return. With counter-service, not much to report other than The fact that the woman behind the counter was extremely nice, and their whole staff was super quick and efficient. As for the ambience (I love their logo) it's just spare, modern and clean, which is really all you can hope for in such an establishment. It's all about the takeout, You are not hanging out here admiring the decor since there isn't any. Just savor the food and be on your way. Oh, and a little note to the people who complained about the size of the sandwich--get over yourself, this was a perfectly appropriate size sandwich for the price. I'm so tired of this American obsession with gluttony and excess. If you want some shitty overstuff garbage, go to Subway. Was looking forward to this place opening and having a great Bahn mi sandwich. The traditional was not very original in that they use sliced meat instead of freshly grilled meat. The flavor seems to be lacking and the sandwich came with a hefty price of $14.00 with tax. This place just gets better every time we go. Yesterday was our fourth or fifth time and WOW it was so good I had to text some friends and say "go!". We always get the Korean Fried Chicken sandwich. Be prepared with plenty of napkins and once u start noshing, don't stop to clean your face just go for it. I was excited for this place to open. Then there was the fire, so when I saw them open I had to try. I had the traditional sandwich. It was pre made. They just handed it to me. The pickled veg was underwhelming and they use pre sliced meat. And it WAY to expensive. I get a better sandwich in the city for half the price. I really wanted this to be my go to joint. I was apprehensive after seeing the hefty price for the sandwiches they offer and hoped after trying it my mind would be changed. Honestly I hate to say it but I'm disappointed. No banh mi should cost over $10, let alone $13-14.50 and if it does it should be well worth the price. I got the traditional and found that it was lacking in flavor. The pickled vegetables were lacking in flavor compared to the banh mi's I've gotten for under $6 before. For people who've never had a banh mi and with extra money to spare I'm sure this would be good to them but unfortunately it just didn't do it for me. Also the thai iced tea I got was about an inch/inch & a half under filled and also lacking in flavor and sweetness that I'm aquatinted with getting in thai teas from other establishments. I greatly looked forward to this place opening as both my wife and I love Bahn Mi sandwiches. The first thing I noticed was the extremely high price for a sandwich. When we received them by waiting outside the front door after ordering online, I almost thought what they gave us was a mistake. We are used to paying about $6.00 for a Bahn Mi and what we got seemed like a miniature sandwich. It also did not taste all that great either. We tried the curry tofu banh mi and the tofu vermicelli bowl, and they were both delicious. This is probably at the top of the vietnamese options we have tried (including the Good Earth tofu banh mi, Banh Mi Zon, and Boo Koo). The tofu was impossibly light and flavorful, the bread was crispy and chewy- but also less voluminous than some banh mi. I could eat here a couple times a week if I needed to.
