L'Ambiente e l'Accoglienza The moment I passed by, I was met with the incredible calore of Maria. She gave me a tour that felt like a stroll through Positano. The aesthetic here is wonderfully eccentric; it perfectly captures that Southern Campania Italian soul. Between the limone lamps, the intricate fresco paintings, the lush vegetable wall, the Raffaella Carrà music playing, and the romantic glow of the patio, it feels like a secret trattoria tucked in the Grove. Servizio con Passione Maria owns her presence with such typical Italian pride, and the rest of the team follows suit. Ambrogio, Carlo, and Ernesto play their parts as typical Italian characters as well, charismatic and laid-back. They have that typical South Italian "easy-going" attitude while remaining completely attentive to every request. They truly host you like family. Il Sapore del Mare e della Terra The menu stays true to coastal traditions: * L'Antipasto: We began with an authentic, fresh Burrata Pugliese that complemented the focaccia perfectly. The cheese was incredibly creamy, blending beautifully with the tomatoes. Then came the Frutti di Mare, perfectly croccante (crunchy) with that hit of sea salt that makes you crave the ocean. * I Secondi: I opted for the Branzino Mediterraneo with salmoriglio sauce. It was so light and fresh, it felt like a true "catch of the day." I paired it with Truffle Fries that had a delicate, sophisticated scent. * La Pasta: We couldn't resist sharing the Pear & Gorgonzola Agnolotti. The gorgonzola cream sauce was difficult to resist to not dip it in the warm crusty Focaccia and perform the "scarpetta", we soaked up every last drop of that sauce! I had a taste of my friend's Swordfish (breaded alla Milanese), which was a great, protein-packed dish. Next time, I am definitely coming back for the Scaloppine di Vitello "Sorrento" with the lemon veal reduction; seeing them served so tender with those roasted Brussels sprouts made my mouth water. Il Dolce Finale You cannot leave without the Tiramisu. I'm usually not the biggest fan of this classic, but this one was a revelation, it was actually my favorite and paired with my legit Kimbo coffe. It even beat out the (also delicious) Pistachio Creamy Cake, which would have taken the top spot if only it had an extra punch of creamy pistachio spread to top it off. Amazing authentic Italian restaurant in the Grove. A+ all around. We sat outside - great ambiance and people watching. We ordered the eggplant parm appetizer and for mains had the gnocchi and cacio e pepe. The service was on point. The staff were friendly and very attentive. They all spoke Italian (and even sang an Italian song together, which we clapped for lol) and the owner checked on us a couple of times throughout our meal. Highly recommend!! This place is a win! Our server was Joe. He was excellent in every way. Our main meal was the Turbot which is a super delicate fish that was served with a very delicate Italian sauce. It was served for two so it was a Good size. It was served with thick potato slices that were baked with the fish. As appetizers we had the mixed fried shrimp, calamari, zucchini, and sardines. The quality of this seafood was fantastic. We also had the fried zucchini flower. This was okay for me. I didn't Love it. Our dessert was---amazingly--buffalo ice cream with olive oil. Yup! This was a delight. At first when we walked in, we were unsure what to expect, but after the first dish and the guidance from our server, Joe, he didn't miss a beat and we took every suggestion he made and our tummies are pleased. We started with the spinach and shrimp special (this was not recommended by Joe and it was the only dish that was meh because it was more batter than shrimp and it was too fried). Next, we had the sea bass and the linguini with seafood. They were both cooked to perfection. The show stopper at the end was the buffalo mozzarella ice cram with olive oil. Don't knock it until you try it. We wiped the bowl clean. It was AMAZING! The ambiance was so cute and reminded me of the Amalfi coast. Came with a group for dinner. They pride themselves on having a true Italian meal from Sorento. Which is one of my favorite spots for Italian food. Everything looked amazing the service was excellent. Only thing is if you are used to a certain kind of Chicken parmigiana don't be surprised when you see this one. It's nothing like what you are used to eating. And No side of pasta, but it didn't matter bc their version of Chicken parmigiana was delicious very tasty, and not bland and in a way better bc you don't leave there feeling like your about to burst. I do not know how I had no idea this spot existed, but I am so happy one of my girlfriends booked it for Friday night dinner. Located on Commodore Ave near Lokal (in the old Strada location) - walking into Baia Blu is like stepping foot in Italy. Pretty much every employee speaks Italian, so I instantly felt like I was going to have an amazing experience. We started off with the Ceasar salad to share. I also split the special of the day - Dover Sole - with my friend. I am such a sucker for Dover Sole, and it's typically a really expensive dish to order. However, I felt $120 for the portion size and quality for a special for two people was reasonable - especially in Miami dining. We also ordered the carpaccio special of the day which was a mix of salmon and tuna with blood orange and salmon roe, what a treat. The rest of the ladies ordered short rib, mussels, and a pasta dish. While I didn't have a drink it did seem to have a nice wine list by the glass and bottle. Service was friendly and pricing was reasonable - with some pasta dishes in the $20s and entrees between $30-40. Love this non-fussy authentic Italian in the grove. The decor is simple and meant to remind you of Sicily with all the lemons and blue accents. The staff is friendly and efficient and one never has to work to get their attention. The food is fresh and feels home made in all the best ways. We have been a few times and have enjoyed all the dishes: lovely tuna and salmon tartare, misto fritto, risotto, whole fish, and perfectly al dente pastas. I got to try a dish i would probably not select, but it was highly recommended & did not disappoint- the Pear & Gorgonzola Agnolotti. Every bite was delicious, a nice balance between the sweetness of the pear + gorgonzola & a delightful touch of black truffle, sprinkled with parm. It's a must- you can thank me later :) Anyway, I skipped order... we got started with freshly made focaccia, probably the best i've ever had (insert chef's kiss).. we finished it & even asked for a refill! For a appetizers we tried the crispy seafood, the sauted mussels & clams, and my all time favorite- the tuna tartare! Other main dishes ordered were Gnnoci with shrimp & pesto and the beef tenderloin w/ 'mushrooms. We shared a dessert sampler, i was impressed by the cannoli, it was topped with pistachio and the lemon pastry. We shared a bottle of wine, recommended by the staff and it was really good- unfortunately I don't recall the name.. I recommend this establishment for special occasions, business dinners, girls nights, or a romantic occasion. My special occasion was that my dad was visiting, and he really enjoyed the experience. We had an early dinner here last night. We were the only people in the restaurant and the service was wonderful and friendly. Italian food was good, but we've certainly had better at a much more reasonable price. Must say that our desserts were really fabulous. But here's why we won't return to Baiablu... We were asked if we wanted water and we said that still water was fine. When we got the bill we were charged $9.00 for water. We've never been charged for still water before and when I asked the manager/ owner he had no real explanation. This was a birthday/ anniversary dinner but because of the ridiculous charge we left feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. For that reason and the overpriced entrees we won't return. read more

I visited Baia Blu two times in one week. It is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful service and a staff that greets you with such enthusiasm. I have tried many of the dishes but here are a few of my faves. The chicken parm is prepared differently than a normal chicken parm and a lot healthier. The branzino is fabulous. The tuna tartare is worth ordering. The grilled octopus was very tasty. I really liked the Caesar salad. The pear and gorgonzola agnolotti was yummy. My husband loved the Cacio E Pepe. This place is different from so many Italian options you have in Miami. First of all, it is so authentic. You feel like you are sitting outside in a small city of Italy surrounded by art gallery, little bars, shops- super cozy design and environment. The coziest area of Coconut Grove. The food!!!! You can tell the chef, Vincenzo Borriello pours his heart into every dish. It's very delicate. I have tried there a few dishes with my girlfriend: lobster pasta, artichoke salad, zucchini pasta. All of those are MUST TRY. The pasta that is so comforting and delicate at the same time, accompanied with a great selection of wine. The dessert. I tried three different ones, honestly hard to focus just on one. But canollies are really similar to the ones I have tried in Italy. You can tell the owner and chef are taking care of the place to make sure the guests are happy. Very friendly atmosphere. We loved Baia Blu! Walking by on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend and their lovely hostess encouraged us to come inside for lunch. The place was alive with families celebrating graduation and early Mother's Day. It felt like Italy on the Amalfi coast. Cozy, energetic and full of love. We both started with Aperol Spritz, along with warm focaccia bread with olive oil for dipping. We ordered the Amalfi salad and tuna tartare, and both were delicious. The service was excellent- no hovering but also there when we needed them. The restaurant had 2 large families on multiple generations celebrating graduation and Mother's Day so the staff was hopping. Although we didn't order the charcuterie platters the families did and it looked AMAZING. Next time we'll try that with a great bottle of wine. Both the manager and the chef came out to check on us. From start to finish, it was the highlight of our trip to Miami. It's not cheap but it's worth it. We will definitely visit again when we're back in Miami. read more
