Basilico was such a beautiful date night spot my fiancé took me to and honestly it felt special from the moment we arrived. We had an 8:30 reservation and were seated around 8:50, but the staff handled it perfectly by offering complimentary wine while we waited and giving us what felt like the best seat in the house. The restaurant has a very elegant and mature ambiance overall, though if I'm being meticulous the menu font feels a little playful compared to the rest of the aesthetic. Our waiter Alejandro was incredible, extremely attentive without ever hovering and made the whole experience flow smoothly. We started with the calamari and spicy sauce. The sauce was delicious and carried the dish, but the calamari themselves could have used a bit more seasoning because on their own they tasted fairly mild. For the main course we ordered the filet mignon medium and it came out closer to medium rare, but honestly it was still delicious. It was served with a risotto that was perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. We paired it with a Dominio Basconcillos Via Magnas 2021 Ribera del Duero red wine which complemented the entree perfectly. We finished with the tiramisu and hands down it was one of my favorite tiramisus I've ever had. Overall Basilico delivered a romantic and memorable dinner with great service, excellent wine, and standout desserts. I would absolutely go back.

Beautiful new location. The food, staff, and atmosphere are incredible. The burrata, beer carpaccio, and filet mignon with risotto were perfect. Definitely one of my new favorite italian spots in Gables. Highly recommend pairing with the Dominio Basonsillo wine!

I still think about these two dishes to this day. Inside is quite cozy for a nice dinner or happy hour meal, but note it's quite small so seating can be taken up fast - inside was busy. The service is very hospitable, the waiter really took his time to describe the dishes and recommend what tastes/dishes would pair best with what.

The hostesses (2) told us 45', we agreed. I asked to go to the bar to have drinks, we were told we couldn't (the bar had some open seats). I said OK, I'll order the drink and we wait outside, hostess was annoyed at that suggestion. She said if we wanted a drink, we'd have to go to their sister restaurant (which was packed). After 1hr 15' (we stayed outside waiting, no drinks), we checked in and the hostess rudely told us that she can't foresee when people will leave. So we took our $350 check to Hillstones, where they value regulars. We have dined at Luca before and love their food, but seems like success has gotten to the hostess' heads. Restaurants, especially in Miami, succeed and survive from the loyal locals, not from tourists nor fads. Seems that Luca has forgotten that. We're happy to take our business elsewhere, even a chain restaurant who values repeat customers.

The setting was actually really nice--quiet, cozy, with a good mix of families and friends. We sat outside and the overall vibe felt promising. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill pretty quickly. As soon as we sat, the waitress greeted us by saying the kitchen was closing at 10 and asked if we already knew what we wanted. It immediately felt rushed and not very welcoming. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, which was good--slightly citrusy for my taste, but enjoyable. For food, I had the chicken Caesar salad and my husband ordered the seafood gluten-free pasta. My salad was disappointing--it had more croutons than chicken, which made it feel unbalanced and not worth the price. His pasta was even more underwhelming, with only three shrimp and a few clams. When we brought it up, the manager came over and explained that portions are measured by the restaurant, but offered to add more chicken and shrimp if we wanted. While I appreciate the offer, it felt like something that should have been corrected automatically, not something we had to ask for--especially considering these are full-priced entrées, not side dishes. Overall, the ambiance was nice, but the food and service didn't meet expectations. For the price point, I expected better portions and a more thoughtful response to feedback. Maybe pizza is a safer option here, but based on this experience, I wouldn't return.

Everyone from the bartenders to the server, to the hostesses were all extremely lovely and accommodating. They were very hospitable and made sure that any request that we had would be attempted. We ordered the Swordfish special and Cacio E Pepe pasta. The pasta was good but the swordfish was really what was cooked to perfection! It was not too soft but not rubbery at all. I liked the lemon caper butter sauce as well. We also grabbed a burrata because...why not? It was also decadent and scrumptious despite it being a slightly small portion size but still adequate for two to share. We were also asked if we wanted any extra cheese on top of the pasta which we definitely obliged! The lighting was gorgeous on the patio and very romantic. It was a nice spot right in the heart of Coral Gables and the nice experience has me wanting to return so soon.

We sat at the bar, very European style service not the efficient checking in with you kind of service but we weren't in a rush. Definitely want to come back and try more of their dishes.

We weren't greeted by a server for at least 15 minutes. Eventually our waiter came over with water, but he seemed rushed and uninterested from the start. Another 15 minutes passed before he took our drink order, and we ended up ordering everything at once because he was so quick to leave the table. No recommendations, no check-ins, and anytime we needed something we had to flag him down ourselves. As for the food, the Fiori Di Zucca Ripieni Di Caprino E Miele Al Tartufo were absolutely divine, easily one of the highlights of the night. The octopus was disappointing, chewy and lacking flavor. The pumpkin ravioli was just okay and I wish the sauce had been creamier. The Linguine Alle Vongole was very good, probably our favorite pasta besides the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe with truffles, which was hands down the best dish we ordered. The mushroom tagliatelle wasn't what we expected at all, the sauce was much thinner and waterier than anticipated. We ended up skipping dessert solely because the service left such a bad impression. Overall, while a few dishes stood out, the experience as a whole didn't feel worth returning for.
