We ate here for dinner because we couldn't decide on a spot. We had their spicy miso ramen which literally only had 1 slither of the chashu and I got the spicy chashu which came with 6 or 7 slithers of the chashu so I just shared with my friends. Broth was good but not creamy as how I'd like it to be and noodles were okay. There was really no wow factor for me and the egg was over boiled. Service was fast, staff wasn't too welcoming. I really loved the wood carved tables though it was so pretty.

Gyoza (4.5/5): Skin had a great texture and the inside was juicy. Zangi (Fried Chicken) (4/5): Tender chicken. Would taste a bit better with a mayo or aioli sauce. Spicy Miso Ramen (3.5/5): I understand that spicy ramens are typically $1 or $2 more than non-spicy ramen, but the $4 price difference between this or a shio/shoyu makes no sense. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but the broth just tasted like chili. I think it makes more sense to order a shio/shoyu and just use the chili oil that's provided at the table, as there isn't extra noodle or meat compared to the regular ramens. Also, I don't think the bamboo shoots were marinated at all, as it tasted like unseasoned gelatin. I would suggest marinating the bamboo shoots separately and cutting them into much thinner slices. The decor of this place is quite unique as there is a massive table in the middle with an imitation tree that's done tastefully. Also, the side tables have wooden engravings under the glass that looked cool. Service was standard and friendly.

Baikohken was on my list of ramen shops to try on my last trip to Hokkaido earlier this year. Unfortunately I was unable to make it so I've been wanting to try the local shop here for a while now. I don't wander into Waikiki too often though. As the case with many of the other shops in Stix Waikiki, Baikohken does offer a 15% kama'aina discount, which was much appreciated and played a big factor in my decision to eat there. They also offer lunch specials, highlighting four of their ramens: shoyu ramen, miso ramen, shio ramen, and spicy miso ramen at discounted rates. I love a deal on top of another deal, so of course I had to order one of the lunch specials with the kama'aina discount. I tried the spicy miso ramen, and boy, was I disappointed. Appearance-wise, it looked pretty good. It had chashu, fat pieces of bamboo shoots, beansprouts, green onion, half an egg, and I believe wood ear fungus on top. Unfortunately, the entire bowl tasted like I was eating shin ramyun. You know, the korean spicy noodles. I enjoy Shin-Ramyun, so nothing against that but definitely not what I was expecting. I think Shin-Ramyun has more flavor than this bowl of ramen. Highly disappointed. I'm even more disappointed that I didn't get to try them in Hokkaido, because now that I've had this, I don't think I'm going to want to, even though part of me knows it's better there. Needless to say, I ate about half my bowl (I was so hungry when I went in).. Noodles are my weakness. I usually eat more than I should, so being able to stop after half means a lot. The soup, noodles, chashu, egg...it was all pretty disappointing.

We decided to give Baikohken a try while we were in Hawaii. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't for me. While everything tasted fresh and was prepared well, I just wasn't wowed by it. My husband actually enjoyed his meal a lot more than I did. He tends to like simpler flavors (the kind of guy who orders a plain burger ), so if you have similar taste buds, you'll probably enjoy this place. For me, though, I don't think I'd come back.

Ordered the Shoyu Ramen...very salty. Food came out fast. Service was not good, never came by, filled water or said anything when giving the check, more on the side of rude.

VEGAN broth available and delicious. Not only the service was efficient, the noodle was perfect texture with simple but Clean broth that compliment the experience. WITH a beautiful cherry bosom tree ambiance as the center piece around the table. Must try when in Stix looking for some traditional Japanese Noodle fix

I took my son to have lunch at Sam's Kitchen and it was gross, so we came here and ordered miso butter corn ramen and takoyaki. We asked for the ramen to be al dente and it was perfect. The soup was ok. I will come back and try a different soup next time. My kid loved the takoyaki, he said it reminded him of the ones in Japan.

This place is located in Stix Asia food hall with lots of Japanese places to choose from. I ordered the Shoyu Special Ramen and Gyozas. Both items were good; however there wasn't anything majorly special to them. I thought the shoyu ramen was pretty light as the soup was more on the water side but still good. Service was a bit slow but there were a lot of people and not enough staff working. Overall, decent place for ramen.

This ramen spot at the noodle street was buzzing with lot of people so wanted to swing over and try it out. I got to-go and took it to my hotel and it was nicely packed and was ready to be eaten. I was excited to eat it and let me tell you it was not good at all. The flavor of the ramen just wasn't anything special it was very bland and felt very basic, the meat was not very tender and juicy. Overall the experience of the ramen was just not that great.

Went here for lunch the other day and we ordered their shoyu ramen and shio ramen. Love how they put slice of butter in your ramen to add to the richness of the broth. Ramen was pretty yummy.

(3.5*) Located in the Stix mall, plenty of options around but it seems this place had a long line so wanted to give it a try. Waited about 40 mins at 8pm before seated and service was fairly quickly after getting our table. Got the spicy special ramen which was packing in spice. The broth was pretty flavorful to where it was actually quite salty but you could taste the richness especially since they add a knob of butter on top of the corn which probably contributed to high salt levels. They also don't skimp when it comes to chasu, tender fatty and a nice size cut as well.

Hubs wanted to give this place a try. Arrived at around 8pm and we were seated right away. Hubs went with the Spicy Waikiki and I ordered the Butter and Corn Miso and added an egg. Pros - I liked the jammy egg, the miso broth tasted creamy, and the ramen texture was good. Hubs liked the charsiu. However, the flavors, overall, were too subtle. With everything in the bowl - meat, bamboo, beansprouts, egg, . . . - I expected more flavor that, unfortunately, just wasn't there.

The sauce to dip the noodles in was good. It was flavorful, salty, and sweet. My wife had a bowl of ramen. I got to try the soup and it tasted really good. I also like how thick it was. I don't like thin soup on my ramen, so this I really liked. My daughter was gulping down her noodles... just shoving it into her mouth. That is a huge thing for me because she's picky with food. We also had the potato mochi. I also liked that one. It had good texture, crunch, and chew. It was brushed with a glaze. The flavor was good. I'm not a chicken karaage guy. But I'm mentioning it because we ordered it. The chicken karaage were good chunks of chicken. Not like other places who give small chunks. My wife liked it because it had more chicken than batter. Service - The Place had good service. The food came out on time. Servers were checking up on us without hovering or being overbearing. They paid attention when we called asking for help. I was listening to the workers, and they seem to like being there. I mean, "work is work", and no one REALLY LIKES going to work. I'm pretty sure we'd all rather be someplace else besides work. Maybe I caught them in a good mood, but, it genuinely seemed like the moral in the place was good and the people working there that night didn't mind being there. Vibe - Small, family vibe. I liked that there was buzz but it wasn't loud. When we came, most of the people there were older, but as we left later in the evening, a more younger crowd started lining up and coming in. That tells me, they appeal to a wide demographic/pallet, which is good. Overall, it's going on the list of places to go back to and recommend. I don't really like going to ramen places during the summer because it's hot. But I would go here.

The quality of the food has been consistent. It's a bit warm inside, but you'll find some good table areas that are cooler. I was disappointed by the service today, especially because there was less people between 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM when I went. The staff had automatically thrown in green onions and tempura flakes, which was not requested. They were just throwing in things without the usual ask they do. Especially, this hurt most when there was a rude lady staff passing out toppings. My family member had kindly requested for green onions a few times, and mind you again, we did not have a line when we entered in, but this lady snickered and ignored her request. I had to sternly request for green onions which eventually happened. The service should not be this way. This is an amazing restaurant, but the experience was utterly ruined from that service experience.

I'd say that the broth is pretty good (light broth is gentle to the stomach), and the noodles were cooked well. You'll probably miss the fatty chunk of charsiu, but they now have pulled beef charsiu instead which is stringy and just as flavorful :) Service was friendly as always and they were very attentive to our needs. The open kitchen concept is nice, the restaurant feels much larger, and overall the new location is more inviting than the old one. Unfortunately, the food and menu changes were a big disappointment for me. The old location had a much larger menu with plenty of ramen options, while the new menu is limited to just three choices. The ramen itself doesn't taste the same, and even the noodles seem different. The biggest letdown was the chashu--it used to be served as a whole slice of pork, but now it's more of a shredded meat style that lacks the same appeal and texture. Adding to that, the new location currently doesn't have a liquor license, which takes away part of the dining experience. While the new space is beautiful, I left missing the food and variety that made Kamitoku one of my favorite ramen spots. Hopefully they'll bring back more of what made the original location special.

Overall, what had been something we'd been looking forward to for years turned out to be a dismal disappointment. The experience left us feeling unwelcome, particularly because it seemed the staff were uncomfortable with two men simply going out for lunch. Being a Black and Asian couple shouldn't have any bearing on how paying customers are treated, but unfortunately, that's how the experience felt to us. We can overlook mediocre food or service, but feeling judged or unwelcome is something we won't overlook. We were there as paying customers and deserved to be treated with the same courtesy and respect as anyone else. Unfortunately, this is a place we won't be returning to, and based on our experience, we would not recommend it to others.
