I last visited but did not purchase anything in mid-December...the day I fractured my ankle slipping on wet tile at Eaton Square, on a Thursday when the first wave of storms signalled the Hawaiian Winter. Their sister company is CoCo Sand Cafe, which I patronized , that day, not knowing I had injured myself seriously. I got a bento and onigiri for takeaway this afternoon. Two yakitori chicken sticks, two meatballs, two sheets of nori, bit of kinpira gobo, konbu - it was like having a deconstructed onigiri beneath the yakitori. Excellent. Onigiri had an Ajitama half and pork. Also, excellent. They have a rice mill on their counter - to the right of the cash register. Employee kindly showed me how they insert brown rice at the top and it is polished - germ and bran separated - and white rice is dispensed at the bottom. Hours are from 0800a till 200p - weekdays. Parking is available on the street ( metered stalls ) and public parking for Eaton Square customers in their garage accessible via Hobron Lane. Validation is available. read more

I tried this triangle shaped onigiri/musubi for the first time here and loved how filling it was. I was delighted to see they had vegetarian only and chicken only options of musubi. I tried three during my visit: Hijiki, karaage mayo and chicken gobo. I really enjoyed the food and the prices are so affordable. I spent $9 on the three altogether. I definitely recommend this spot! A little bit more about this location, it's tucked in a small shopping center with other food spots. There's shaded seating outdoors and a koi fish pond right outside the shop. It's only a dollar or 2 more than the big box supermarket/convenience store, but it's totally worth it to come here for the top quality ingredients, made & served by friendly chefs/aunties. Also, nowhere else will you find high end Japanese rice that's milled fresh IN THE STORE DAILY - each kernel is so light, delicate, and fluffy! Their most popular salmon bento is grilled to perfection, the tender chicken skewers are bursting with flavor, and they have over a dozen musubi varieties to suit anyone's taste! They're located on the ground floor of the Eaton Square complex - most of the bento/onigiri are only made once in the morning so GET THERE EARLY for the best selection, as it will get sparse near the end of the day. The only downside is that they only have traditional ahi poke on rice - would love it if they had options for salmon +/- salad instead of rice, but no worries since "Amy's shrimp and poke truck" is just a couple blocks away and has you covered with all the poke options. read more

Bento was delicious. I got the last miso butterfish bento and it was a very good sized portion. It was a good portion size for me and it wasn't too big. The sides were also just as delicious as the butterfish itself. The rice they pride themselves on using really makes all the difference in their bentos and musubis because I could definitely taste the difference. Definitely one of the best bento/musubi places I've had so far. Would make my way back to Eaton Square just to eat their food again. Service was quick and helpful. It is also just a takeout spot but there are tables outside where you can eat - but not a ton of seating so keep that in mind. A portable Japanese breakfast or lunch option for Waikiki at reasonable prices for high quality and deliciousness. The lady running the shop is very sweet. The shop is located through the Eaton Square Arch, next to the CoCo sandwich store. It opens at 8am and runs a brisk business so come earlier to snag your favorite musubi and bento. In addition to the ready made food sitting out they offer an ala carte menu of poke bowls, beef bowls, and more. They also sell cups of coffee which was quite good for simple drip coffee. My favorite musubi was the unagi/egg and the spicy tuna. Theyre not huge, so would recommend at least 2-3 depending on how hungry you are, for a fuller meal. The rice was excellent quality, cooked and made fresh, and the fillings were generously portioned, with great filing to rice ratio. The bento selection was very good, each one had a good portion of rice and nice variety of protein and veggie sides. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. The salmon was super tender! It tasted great with furikake. Located in Eaton Square, a small shopping plaza, this restaurant doesn't have seating inside. The lady taking my order was nice and brought my food to me outside as there are patio tables. It was quiet when I went, so I ate in peace. Komedokoro M's is located in a small plaza at Eaton Square in the Waikiki area of Honolulu. It's a small take-out spot with no indoor seating but a couple tables outside. They specialize in Japanese musubi and bento using Tsuyahime rice from Japan that's milled daily. We ordered a variety of spam musubi, including their mini-set which included three different mini musubis so you can sample different kinds. We also ordered the chicken and egg musubi and the spicy tuna musubi. The rice was unsurprisingly soft and fresh and I particularly liked the spicy tuna musubi. You can even buy the rice that they use in the store and, if you're wondering, they are allowed in carry-on luggage. It's a hidden gem that you wouldn't expect in such an inconspicuous plaza but it is a homey spot serving good musubis. Note that they close at 2pm and they're closed on Sundays. read more

Konedokoro M's has a special place in my heart, and I always come here when I am in Oahu. I first discovered this gem in 2021 when visiting the island for a friend's wedding. It's a small space and every thing is made fresh daily. They also have plates that can be ordered fresh while supplies last. They sell out quick so I try to come as early as possible to get the yummy onigiri. They have this braised pork belly and soft boiled egg onigiri that is to die for! Looking for a spot to pick-up a quick lunch in Waikiki that won't break the bank? Komedokoro M's has you covered. Located in the Easton Square, this is probably the most peaceful spot in Waikiki. I've never been here before and it feels like being transported to a sleepy neighborhood in Japan. It's a mixed residential space with apartments towering over. There is a parking lot, but Komedokoro M's unfortunately does not validate. Komedokoro M's specializes in onigiri, bentos, and poke bowls. Prices are very reasonable and you'll be able to try a little bit of everything on a budget. Onigiri runs $2-$4 and bentos and poke bowls are about $10 each. My favorite onigiri has to be the Pork Kakuni and egg. It's a stewed pork and medium egg -- I could've ate multiple! More than just the toppings, the rice is quality! I don't think you can go wrong, so just pick a few and be adventurous! They have these cute little baskets to put all your onigiri and bentos in... mine was overfilled. The poke bowl for the price is amazing-- the fish was very fresh and both the spicy and shoyu was great! I would try and get here as early as possible for the most onigiri options. read more

Just inside the entrance to Eaton Square so easy to find (left side). Tried their spam and egg, mentaiko mayo, unagi and egg, and chestnut dorayaki. All great! Their onigiri taste different than others ive had - the rice taste like a mochi rice but without the mochi stickiness. It's good but slightly different. They're also smaller than im used to. The best onigiris on the island! Came here about an hour after opening and a lot of things were already almost sold out. I like how there are trays so you can hold the items you want to purchase. The staff here is always nice and makes the whole experience smooth. My favorite items here were the pork Kakuni onigiri and the chicken karage with mayo! The rice is perfectly cooked and I love how fluffy yet mochi-like the rice is. Each onigiri is stuffed with quite a bit of filling which made it more enjoyable. One item I didn't like at all would be the mayo salmon. Unlike the tuna mayo, the salmon is a weird dry texture where I would've preferred regular salmon. Tuck in a residential area is a small plaza that houses a few shops, a market, and this cute fresh rice establishment. Komedokoro M's uses exclusively Tsuyahime rice for their onigiris, bentos, and poke bowls. The rice is soft when hot but at room temperature, it firms up a bit and gives it a delicious chewy sweet texture. There were a lot of options for onigiri flavors. We ordered 2 onigiris, a butterfish bento, and a small half x half poke bowl. I only remembered to take a picture of the bento because we dug right into the food immediately. The poke bowl was quickly made, and tasted fresh and flavorful. The tsuyahime rice perfectly compliments it. Overall, it was nice trying a different variety of rice, considering I've mostly ate California Calrose rice and Thai Jasmine rice growing up. Tsuyahime Hine rice is not fragrant like jasmine rice. I feel what it excels in is staying delicious, soft and chewy even at room temperature. You can purchase the tsuyahime rice directly there. So I just happened to be in the area for a work seminar...random. But I needed lunch. It was around 12:30 noon and there were a few onigiri gone, but a lot were available. A lot of them mentioned the prefecture. They also sold white and brown rice, from Japan which I was tempted to buy. Onigiri with tamago had a nice jammy center and the rice was seasoned nicely, not salty. I should have bought more. The location is super strange. I've been all over Waikiki, but never here. Regretfully for me, I ended up finding this place on the last day of vacation. With about an hour before checking out of our hotel, I decided to trek over here since they opened at 8am. It was less than a mile away from where we were staying, and after trying their goods, it was well worth the walk in the rain! Located in a small, somewhat confusing shopping area called Eaton Square Mall, you'll either have to find street parking or use the parking garage. I mention this because it felt like I was entering a business center full of office spaces versus a mall. Now back to this tiny shop called Komedokoro M's... I'd say the shop is about half the size of your typical boba cafe. So don't expect to dine in. There are no tables inside. Not much interaction with the staff, but no issues checking out either. As I stood there undecided on what to get, they brought out more musubis. Yeah things go quick here, so just pay, grab, and go! What did I try? ~ Pork Kakuni & Egg ($3.95) and boy was this one of the best musubis I've ever tried! The pork belly slice was nice and succulent, combined with that salted egg. Mmm mmm, I wish I had one right now! ~ Spam Egg with Furikake ($3.59) which was also similar, but also a winner in my book. T'was just flavorful because of the furikake being sprinkled all the way around it. ~ Nori Bento Butterfish ($14.99) with a croquette, tempura, a slice of spam, chicken karaage pieces over rice. This too was very enjoyable! The fish did have a few small bones, but not a lot. Still palatable for the most part. So, here's the other thing. The musubis did have an "eat by" sticker date on it, and we actually didn't try them until the next day. We were in a rush to check out of our hotel, but ended up at a cousin's house after. Still did not try them. The next morning, I microwaved the goods for a few seconds and maaan... All of it was still so good and still tasted fresh to me. I could only imagine how good they'd be, fresh the day of. But I was still elated that I was singin' Blackpink, "Love, love love love, love love love! How you love to hate me!" Think of a braised taiwanese braised pork and a marinated egg ontop. They even stuff the masubi center with more meat! The pork melts in your mouth and you cant just eat one. I order 3 a day!! Service was amazing and always greets upon entry. Ambiance is welcoming a small area where there are trays of masubis and Bento boxes. On our weekday walks, it's easy to get in a rut and go to the same old places. I heard a new musubi place opened in Eaton Square and finally made an effort to go try it. It's easy to find, back from the front entrance or to the right from the Backdoor. This is a place that's easiest to get by walking, but there is street parking around. It's kept super clean and organized. Wooden shelves have the musubi arranged and displayed with signs telling about each variety of rice and other ingredients used and where they originated. Little baskets are available at the front to fill up with your goodies. They also have bento boxes ready to take and a selection of cold drinks like teas and sodas. Prices are reasonable and in line with similar stores, but I immediately found the quality to be higher with much more flavor over salt. I chose a mayo tuna and tempura shrimp, two of my favorites. Each was made with care and filled with the protein, which can be lacking elsewhere. Each tasted different as well. They also have a menu from which to order if they don't have the items you want. The attendant was friendly and welcoming. They have a $10 minimum for credit card use. If you want to eat there, Eaton Square has many outside tables. If you're a fan of hand made musubi, it's worth the visit. read more

Never been to the actual shop, but they sell um at Times so no need go into Waiks! On a major mentaiko kick...I stuck it in the fridge and even cold, so far this is the best I've found on island. Rice good. Nori, obviously not fresh since I put in fridge, but still taste good. Choke mentaiko...got it in every bite. Perf. $2.99...so comparable to other musubi places. I'm a huuuuuuge fan. Our new favorite local spot! During just our 5 day trip in Waikiki, we have been here 3 times now. It's just a 10 minute walk, but sadly they only open weekdays, 8am-2pm. It's one of those places you should come early otherwise they sell out. This cute little shop is meant for take-away only, and sell beverages that are already bottled. They have a vast selection of Masubis, Rice Bowls, some Noodles and Poke. They sell only one kind of fish for Poke Bowl but it's so good. Here's what we ordered: POKE BOWL SPICY - $19.59 This is Tuna with Spicy Mayo over rice and it's legit and so good. We ordered it 3 times. FRIED NOODLE - $5.95 Spam, Carrot, Cabbage. Something easy for the kids/babies. BEEF BOWL - $16.59 (Large) Comes in 3 sizes, and this is a simple rice bowl with shreds of beef with nice flavors. Good for the kids. UNAGI BOWL - $15 (Small) So good! Exactly what I wanted and the price was so good. It was something already out on display and was able to quickly grab it and go. IKURA SALMON BOWL - $19.59 (Medium). This holiday special was a steal! They are SO generous with the salmon roe and it's as only $20! There are pieces of cooked salmon but it's mostly salmon roe and it's amazing.
