Wild caught gulf shrimp are much better quality then the garbage farm raised Taiwan shrimp we were served. If you're going to charge then put quality on the plate please. We came here for brunch and left full and happy. The veggie omelet with a side of bacon was fantastic. My friend had the southern breakfast, which she said was delicious. Strong bloody Mary's and a nice tea selection were the perfect addition to our late breakfast. The place is cozy so it's best to get there on the early side. The staff were friendly and attentive. A solid spot for sure and if we had stayed in town longer, would have returned for dinner. Only one friend left feeling like his brisket tacos would have been better if the meat were shredded instead of chunked. I say, that's what he gets for not ordering breakfast! read more

Two nights ago my wife and I had an excellent meal at Bailey's Backyard.We were seated on the outdoor patio which was delightful. I had the encrusted salmon and my wife had seared scallops whch iwere both delicious. Both meals were cooked perfectly and the service was very attentive. Went here before a show at the Playhouse back in June. We were a bit rushed, but the staff graciously accommodated us. I had the clam chowder, which was delicious. Can't recall what else we had, since it's been a couple of months. But would recommend. It's on the pricey side, so be aware of that ahead of time. The quality and freshness of the food, however, dictates the pricing. You're not going to find standard, boring dishes here. read more

Fresh, Innovative and Delicious My husband and I tried Baily's about 9 months ago and have been back at least 3 times a month since. The food is carefully thought out and innovative. We moved to Ridgefield from Manhattan and as vegetarians we had so many options in the city, but few in CT until we found Baily's. They do a wonderful job of incorporating fresh, local ingrediants into meat and vegetable dishes. The menu changes seasonally which is something we look for. Many other restaurants in the area stay stagnant with the same dishes over and over showing no imagination, but Baily's is a show stopper. I have taken friends and family to Baily's and all are impressed. It is so versatile, you can go for a casual brunch, a fun dinner with friends, but make sure you try the exciting tasting menu at least once. I've been to this restaurant a couple of times over the years. We returned yesterday evening and had the most wonderful dinner. We showed up at 9:30 thinking that we would be sent elsewhere (their hours note closing to be at 10pm). Much to our surprise, they happily accommodated our foursome. Our waiter Kyle provided the most helpful and courteous service I have had in Ridgefield to date. After advising our particulars on wine, Kyle kindly pointed us to a bottle of red for the gentlemen and a bottle of white for the ladies. Both were amazing choices! For starters, we had the charred octopus and mussels. We were gifted with the opportunity to also try their pork belly tacos!! I will say I do not normally like octopus. The octopus is accompanied by candied chorizo! It's savory with hints of sweetness. For dinner, we had the special of Swordfish with farro and a sort of red pepper sauce, lobster tortellini and the other special of the evening a filet. Everything was delicious. There was nothing remaining to take home. Our only regret being we had no room left for dessert. On your next evening our, go visit Kyle at Bailey's! This restaurant has been in Ridgefield for years. I tried it in the past a couple of times and was completely unimpressed. My wife and I went recently as we were looking for brunch and they serve it. The food was great. I had perfect Eggs Benedict. My wife had the Shahshuka, a very creatively prepared and delicious baked egg dish. They must have a new chef or new owners and they are doing a nice job. The cappuccino was, on the other hand, pretty poor, a milky mess in a glass. They should do a bit of research on just what a cappuccino is and how it is made. Similarly unimpressed by their Bloody Mary (there was a pickle in it). The rating is probably 3 1/2 but fix your beverages and you get a 5. read more

We had lunch today at Bailey's Backyard and were beyond thrilled. Everything we ordered was exceptional. We were impressed especially with the unusual and complex seasonings. They were perfectly combined to create delicious dishes, each one a surprise. Mike and Rel, working together, provided perfect service. Mike, was knowledgeable about food and wine. A very unfortunate first visit as my family is new to Ridgefield. Stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday. Ordered 2 lemonades & 2 burgers, both medium. Lemonades were refreshing (until I learned the price of each upon receiving the bill - $7 each?!?!) but when our burgers were presented to us, mine was rare. In honesty it was raw, but I'm trying to be nice. Back it went - a few minutes went by & I was presented with the exact same burger, bite & all - the chef simply threw the same patty back on the grill to cook it properly. This is not ok - it's your screw up - start from the beginning with fresh food! - and its absolutely not ok when you're charging $19 for a hamburger. Will never, ever return. Ridgefield seems to have plenty of restaurants to choose from - I'm happy to see how they compare. read more

Had dinner here last night. Showed up about 5 min late for our reservation (make reservations to be safe) but had to wait about 20 min for our table. There is no were to wait inside as the place is very small. Better be warm out. When we got seated, we started with salads. I had one that was on special, warm goat cheese. It was amazing. Then entrees, I had another pasta special and he had the trout. Both were incredible. Great wine selection. Great beer selection. With proper reservations, this place could have been perfect. Went here for brunch on Sunday. We were delighted by the fresh cornbread and molasses/butter/orange juice sauce that was served shortly after we were seated. We both got the "Full Southern Breakfast." It was amazingly good. The only negative was that the biscuits, which are split and toasted, were burnt instead of just toasted. The Wednesday tasting menu is the best!! We try to make it every week just to see what's new. I love this place!! Last night (6/10) we had what was perhaps our best dining experience yet at Bailey's and that is saying a lot. The Braised Briscuit, Lamb Sausage and Pork Ragu were all outstanding. The Strawberry Shortcake dessert was enough to make me forget the S'mores dessert for at least a little while. This place is a treasure. read more

To start the setting is small yet intimate with a beautiful decor throughout the restaurant. This is a location we continually select for celebratory events and the occasional drinks and desert! The pricing is reasonable but a little higher than some areas, however the cuisine is worth every penny! Pros: Delicious Food, great spot! My favorite Ridgefield restaurant. I love just reading the menu! All the dishes are so creative, using ingredients together in fresh and innovative ways. And the menu changes on a regular basis. Of course, the best part is eating. . . and drinking. Mixologist cocktails and mocktails and I frequently discover a new wine to enjoy that I've not heard of before. I've hosted small parties here. Today was not my first time eating at Baileys Backyard, having gone a few times with friends on a weeknight. Food then was good. Tonight's entire experience was a sore disappointment. Now, I'll will admit...I'm celiac and tree nut allergic, as is my daughter who was dining with my husband and I. Not the easiest customer, but certainly not the most difficult. Here's the good: the music was great, the staff friendly and the decor is warm and inviting. Also, we showed up an hour before our reservation and they were extremely accommodating. Sadly that's where the good ended. Our waiter took our drink order and gave the specials. He was fast to bring our drinks. He then took our meal order, and we ordered the fish special and the steak special along with a GF burger for my daughter. Simple enough. We also ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts and the soup special as an appetizer. The waiter brought the house corn bread with a molasses sauce, that my husband loved. Then nothing...for 40 minutes..FORTY MINUTES!!! Our appetizers finally hit the table. My husband was happy enough with the soup, but my "crispy" Brussels looked a little mushy...I asked the waiter, and he stated that they'd steamed them instead of deep frying to avoid a cross contamination. Ok, so I DID appreciate the consideration, however, I ordered CRISPY brussels. Steamed are just gross. Had I known, I would have gone with a salad. But, hey ho, I still have my fish to look forward to! Our mains hit the table about 15 minutes after our appies. My husbands plate looked amazing! He ordered a medium cooked filet tenderloin. It came with a couple veggie sides and a sauce that were delish!!! Outside of his steak was a little tough, but the inside was perfect. My fish looked a little sad in comparison. The fish was a pompano, and was slightly overcooked, but tasted good. The tomatoes were fishy, and the squash (I think??) was undercooked. The "bed of arugula" was actually a few pieces of mushy green under the fish, certainly not a bed, by most standards. My daughter had ordered a burger with fries. She's willing to risk the cross contamination with the fryer, I'm not that brave. They offered her GF bread instead of a naked burger, which she accepted very happily. Her burger arrived and she bit into it. It was on the medium rare side. Not to our taste, so se ate the edges and was happy. The fries she loved SO much that I gambled a taste. No reaction so far, but man, they were the best fries EVER! If they could just buy a dedicated fryer for the French fries I'd be there a LOT!!! Sadly, I think my time at Bailey's Backyard is done. Too many mistakes for one meal that cost $180, plus tip. read more

Popped in for some weekend brunch as this place had been consistently rated high. You won't be disappointed if you order the brunch special - shakshuka. It's a large plate, expertly seasoned with great combination of spices, topped off with poached eggs and complemented by melt in your mouth toasted bread. Lovely! I love Baileys. The food is always good and the main dining room is little and quaint. Their soups are always great. Highly recommend the squash soup when they have it. My favorite dish I have had there were the scallops. I have not seen them on the menu lately, but I highly recommend them when you find them. I had the NY strip last time we were there. Cooked perfectly and just the right amount of spices. They also have a great lunch menu. The perfect amount of food for lunch. My favorite part of Baileys is the wonderful staff. We went with two other couples. The food, drinks and dessert were amazing. BUT you need to know one thing. Each couple gave separate credit cards to the server for the bill to be split 3 ways. On OUR credit card was our third and ANOTHER charge for the 4 other dinners. It was a "hold" according to there restaurant in case the other 2 credit cards didn't clear. They explained the "first card they use is the card they put all the charges on". It was on our card as "pending" for 4 days. No one explained this would be done. Not nice. read more
