Phenomenal. Real food. Put their foot in the jerk kitchen. Look up the phrase. Crab Bisque is consistently delicious. Hanger Steak is well worth it. We always have a great time here! Staff is the best. Well done, chef.

The NY Strip steak is Devine. Order medium rare with their home made steak sauce. Better than most steak houses.

Lamb chops were absolutely delicious. Service was very attentive. Ambiance was cozy with low buzz but not loud at all.

I should've written a review sooner but it never occurred to me until I saw the 3 and 1 star reviews. One of the 3 star reviews the guy only had positive things to say! So why the 3 stars? The people that do this kind of thoughtless inconsiderate rating are blissfully unaware how this can affect the business. My family has a small business, so I take it personally when people are cavalier with their idiotic ratings which are substantiated by nothing and yet drags the star rating of the business down. Shame on you guys and boy, would I love to go rate your performance at your job.

The kale salad is outstanding. The veggie burger is massive and delicious. On one occasion I had a pasta (I think it was cacio e pepe), and it wasn't anything special. My friend had the duck bao and loved it. For dessert we had the layered carrot cake and the chocolate cremeux...to die for. I love the comfy interior, soft lighting, modern design. And I've been very happy with the service - on our first visit during summer we had an outdoor reservation, shortly after sitting down it became too buggy and they happily found us a spot inside, we really appreciated that. Just don't be late as they have a 5 minute grace period and you'll be charged per person for a missed reservation.

What ties them all together is quality. Every dish on the menu at Rosie is great with seasonal specials that everyone should try when offered. My two favorites are the Fillet Mignon and Beef Brisket Tacos both of which I've ordered and eaten more times than I care to admit. For non-meat eaters, Rosie also has delicious options on the menu for vegetarians and vegans; and you don't have to be either to recognize and enjoy delicious food without meat like the desserts; speaking of which Rosie is known for its gigantic muffins. When dining-in, I highly recommend saving room for a muffin or if you're too full at the end of your meal, order one or a few to-go. The banana walnut muffin is insanely good! Regarding ambiance, the restaurant is small, casual and quaint -- a place you'd expect to see in a small New England town that's also rated the best place to live in Connecticut. During the Spring, Summer and Fall months, you can dine outdoors with your fur babies. New Canaan is a dog-friendly town and the people and service at Rosie are great too. There's street parking in front and a public lot just around the corner from the restaurant.

I wish I could spell his name without butchering it. I ordered the fish taco and it was delicious. We also had the eggplant fries, bang bang shrimp, and the banana nut oat crunch muffin, which was excellent. We ordered some other food like an omelet, and the tostada crunch wrap. I can't say anything bad about the food here. What I will say, though, is that this was a bit pricey for a brunch spot. $15 for a small glass of lavender mimosas ... yeah, definitely overpriced, but again, the food and friendly staff made up for that. My sister and I agreed we would be back. Oh, and the inside isn't too big but could use a bit of personality. It wasn't the most appealing, but honestly, this place is about the food.

The app says at the top that I might consider "Food", "Service", and "Ambiance" in writing this…read morereview. I would consider all of those things but that would be unfair. Because I didn't experience any of them. I've lived in the next town for almost eight years. In that time I've eaten at the New Canaan Diner AT LEAST 100 times. This night was not special; just looking for a late night hamburger. It's Friday night, May 9. It's raining. The sign in the window says that they are open until 9 pm. I walked in at 8:40 pm. Ok, a little late, but I just wanted a hamburger. More than half of the tables were filled. All of the seats at the counter were filled. People were eating. All good signs. The waiter said, "We're closed," and immediately turned his back to me. Not "Sorry, we're closed." Just "We're closed," and I got his back. I looked around the room at all the people eating and said to one of the other waitstaff, "You're closed?" She looked embarrassed and said, "Well, the kitchen is closed...." She seemed to understand that her colleague's behavior was inappropriate in a retail eating establishment. He shouldn't leave this job to be a greeter at Walmart. He would be bad at that. I nodded and walked out. I'm having Japanese food across the street. I really didn't want Japanese food for dinner, but the food is always good at Hama and the hospitality is always superior. All the chefs at the sushi bar bow and say "thank you" as I leave. I'm sure that their gratitude is not deeply sincere, but it beats "We're closed" followed by an abrupt about-face. The diner is dead to me. At least for a while.
