Came here for a Friday dinner based on great reviews. We were received by the hostess , older lady, who needs training imo or having a bad day?. She seemed not happy to be there. We gave our names, she had no response just walked over to the computer to looked at our names then grab the menus with not a single word walked towards a small table. So we assumed to follow her. Usually hostess will say "please follow me". Anyway, going on. Once seated, we were attended immediately by our server. Support staff were excellent. We listened to the reviewers and ordered the fish entrees. Yes, the seabass dish was a divine, uniquely prepared and presented. If you are in the area , give them a try. The place has a rustic feel. Delicious! We stopped in here for a quick bit ahead of an appointment we had. We ordered the butternut squash soup and burrata to start and buttermilk chicken sandwiches for mains. The apps came out quite quickly and the soup was so good! The burrata was a slight miss as the flavor fell off a bit and just didn't live up to the creamy burrata experience we've come to love. Admittedly the menu lists it as crispy burrata but we thought that maybe meant it was slightly crispy on the outside while still creamy and delicious inside. The chicken sandwiches, once they finally arrived, were equally good and we both agreed we would be back again. The reason for the 4 and not 5 stars is the speed of the service. While it was on us for not mentioning we had an appointment in an hour, the restaurant was not full by any means so we figured we would be fine. The apps came out quickly but the main chicken sandwiches took an extremely long time. We had long finished our apps and were just kinda of sitting and waiting and hoping for our mains. I eventually asked our waiter who apologized profusely and said he would try and rush getting our food out. By the time it finally came out we literally had 2 minutes to inhale as much as we could before having to box up the rest and be on our way. I wouldn't let the speed of service discourage anyone from going there as the food was really tasty just be mindful it can take a lot longer than expected at times. read more

Stopped in today at 3pm. We didn't realize that they close to prep for dinner. Chef Forrest welcomed us anyway. He brought out his grandmother's cornbread. It's Heaven on earth! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable- thank you Patrick! Cocktails were fantastic and the huevos rancheros were the best I've ever had. This is a hidden gem. I went with two friends, for lunch. We each had salad. The lettuce was plentiful for each, but the rest of the ingredients were skimpy, and we got about four croutons each. When asked for more, we were each given about 6 more. Were they running out of food? Or is it always this bad? Oh, the sauvignon blanc was fine as was the coffee, but the skimpy salads were forgettable. That was our first and last visit. read more

We ate here on Saturday night (7/10) and the food and atmosphere was amazing. They've done a great job in creating a nice outside space, which included live music during our dinner. The food was incredibly flavorful and they offer a great mix of options that all feel healthy and include many fresh veggies to complete the farm to table experience. Their calamari was fried perfectly and was crunchy and not soggy or heavy tasting. The salads we had were great and unique and our fish entrees were great sizes and were delicious. Yesterday had third meal here and each time was just so delicious. The food is so fresh and the menu certainly has something for everyone. Yesterday went for brunch and the avocado toast was done so uniquely and presented so well I enjoyed every bite. My family always fights over who gets the most cornbread served when you sit down. Loved it! We showed up an hour and a half before our reservation, "just in case", (I know that's unusual,but it was a super rainy day) Even so, they welcomed us warmly and catered to our early arrival. Reservation was for 8:30 Friday night. At 7 we got a table had some wine and waited for our friends. The waiter/host was amazingly pleasant. Waitress was friendly and our glasses were never empty. I first found Uncle Giuseppe's a few years ago and was excited to see one close to Greenwich CT when I was visiting family. Literally my first stop from White Plains airport we went straight to Yorktown to stock up for the 2 weeks I would be there. My favorite is the eggplant from the hot bar, but was bummed there was none left because I had gotten in so late. But the prepackaged is just as good if not better. EVERYTHING there is amazing. I froze a pre-packaged eggplant parm and stuffed shells and brought them back to Los Angeles. I definitely recommend everything there. read more

Have always enjoyed the farm to table concept here, but at times have been left less than impressed with the execution of some of the dishes. The summer menu just instated last weekend however seems to have kicked things up a notch. Cantaloupe soup was layered with flavors, current scallop preparation is particularly successful, and even a simple sounding watermelon "side" was well prepared during our most recent visit. Third great meal at this hidden Ridgefield gem. An excellent dinner and an even better lunch left only the weekend brunch untried. Before a 4PM movie, myself and 4 friends had a 2:00 PM reservation. We were seated inside at our request although there is a good number of outdoor seating options. Our excellent waiter balanced attention and good service without hovering and we ordered from the from the brunch menu. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all. Highly recommended. read more

We came for an early dinner before a show at the Playhouse. We had a feeling that we didn't have a great experience the last time we came, but gave it the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience this time either. Some parts were great -- the sidewalk seating is lovely, the cocktails were good and the appetizers (yellowtail "carpaccio" which wasn't a carpaccio at all but still delicious, and soft shell crab) were very good. And then we waited. At least half an hour went by before our mains arrived after we'd finished the appetizer. We didn't complain we we could see people were running around quite busily. But when they did arrive they were very poor. My lamb special was so overcooked it was grey in the middle and cottony. The roasted carrots were flavorless, as was the lamb. The beet purée was absolutely delicious though! My boyfriend's steak arrived well done when he'd ordered medium rare. We told our server this but also said we didn't have time for a re-order as by now we were coming up to the time we needed to leave for the show. She said she'd give this feedback to the kitchen. I promise I am not one of those people who expects freebies for sub-par experience. But we were still quite disappointed that there was no follow-up at all, even though there was clearly a lot of unwanted food left on the plate. I'd have hoped at least for maybe an offer of coffee on the house, or even a nice word from a supervisor? We felt that our $300+ price tag was just very high for a blah evening. And our cocktail glasses sat on our small table for the entirely of the meal even when we had moved on to a bottle of wine. Little details add up. I was looking forward to revisiting Baileys Backyard after many years, having had positive experiences in the past. Made a last minute reservation and my expectations from the past were quickly met with an extremely courteous hostess over the phone, who subsequently provided an equally friendly greeting upon walking in. In fact everyone we engaged with in the restaurant was extraordinarily courteous and service was relatively attentive. The country rustic chic atmosphere perfectly compliments the hidden quaint town of Ridgefield, making it hard to have a poor experience here. That said, maybe the night was off but the food fell way below my expectations and past experiences. Brussels were not crispy but the sauce and garnishing made up for it. Two over cooked burgers one with awesomely crispy fries while the others were undercooked soft and almost inedible. Butternut soup special was disappointingly dull, but I was also first brought an incorrect soup which may have caused the issue. My wife's branzino was good, but it would have been nice to have a whole option instead of just filet. Unfortunately the potatoes that complimented it were undercooked almost raw. Giving 3 stars based off having better past experiences, and the consolation of a friendly staff and perfect ambiance. I won't go out of my way to revisit, but do hope to have a reason to revisit in the future and give them another try, hoping the food will be better next time. My fear is they may just mirror the town itself, superficially appearing to be charming and trendy. read more

Had lunch here today as a family pre-Christmas gathering. Ridgefield is one of the most charming of towns and where four us grew up. Bailey's was a real treat - not only was our waiter, Mr. Zandry, fantastic, the atmosphere was cozy and the food delicious. I had the special of the day which was short rib tacos - perfect! Lived in Ridgefield for almost 20 years. Have gone to Baileys only three or four times. Every time it is very good. Very good in that the food is well prepared, fresh, farm to table, attractively presented, and the atmosphere is nice. But...and many may disagree with me, because Baileys has been around a long time and Seems quite successful - I rarely leave there satisfied. On the positive side, it is good to NOT overeat and NOT succumb to the gluttonous American sized portions so many dish out. And it is wonderful to eat healthy food made with fresh ingredients from local producers. But the portions are small - very small. And the prices are - expensive. So for me, I'm just not getting the value that many other local restaurants provide with excellent, tasty meals that are satisfying and come at a more reasonable price. read more

I am only giving 2 stars because our waitress was so nice. I ate at Baileys yesterday with friends and really wanted it to be good. I walk by at least 3 times a week and the food smells amazing. My meal was terrible. It was so bad that my friend asked if he could share his after he tried mine. I took a bite of his and politely declined telling him I didn't want to eat his food (it was not good either). After we left we all had a chuckle over hoping someone else at the table would eat our meal. No one liked their food. Since the main choices here are around 20 dollars a plate I wouldn't even suggest giving it a try. read more

Unique, inventive and relaxing are perfect ways to describe this restaurant. Not only is the food great but the service was impressive and collaborative without being intrusive. The servers "teamed" up to answer any questions and to provide timely drinks, due to our limited timeframe based on Ridgefield playhouse tickets (JJ Grey..a must see). The atmosphere is calming, comfortable and funky rustic. It was a cooler fall night and those sitting outdoors were provided blankets, which was a nice touch. The food was creative and wonderfully prepared. I enjoyed the duck breast, which was tender and well balanced. We tried multiple appetizers and would have them all again. A lovely place and everything was fine except for the main entree. I like steak tartare. I also like short rib. They should be cooked differently. The short rib was rare and chewy. It should be well done and fall off the bone yummy. The wait staff insisted that chewy was the way it should be. read more
