Ugh...I called and scheduled service on my computers for a few routine matters I didn't have time to deal with myself. Not only did they never get to the action items for which I called, these guys sent a tech who totally wrecked havoc on my machines which were previously rock solid and stable. They ran a software that 'broke' the connections between files and software (e.g. so Adobe didn't recognize PDF files for example, outlook didn't recognize vcards, etc). They added software that slowed down my operations, and caused all sorts of problems I didn't have before they started. At one point I found the tech actually googling how to perform a basic function (seriously? I can do that!?!?) I've spent weeks trying to unravel their 'work'. I heard they did a good job (which is why I called), so maybe it was who they sent...but I strongly suggest you do your homework, ask for the qualifications of the tech they send, and watch them as they perform the work to understand what they are doing so you can either approve it or undo it later. read more

Without an appointment, I walked in and asked for help managing my burgeoning photo inventory (20,000 plus on my I-pad alone). They very patiently established with me what my needs were across all my platforms, helped design a system of storage that met my needs, showed me how to manage the process, and then charged me just one small fee, even though they had to spend quite a bit of time with me. On several occasions, I've had a "911" with my Lenovo and Dell laptops. One time the Lenovo was diagnosed dead. The other time the Dell was fixed with a new power switch. I had prompt service, truthful communication and will repeat. These are good citizens of Bainbridge Island! read more

I'm never going here again. My computer had a routine fix- the hard drive had gone haywire so I needed to install a new one as well as an operating system to get it up and running again. They said they could do it. Each time I called, they gave me a later date it would be finished. Finally, TWO WEEKS after I'd turned it in, they called and said they'd just realized that they couldn't install the operating system. I go to pick up my computer and they charged $50. For replacing the hard drive with one that I brought. A procedure I could have done on my own in 5 minutes. Nice guys, but $50 is way too much for not fixing my computer. I could pay anyone to do that! read more

Lousy service, broken promises, bad estimate and the wrong parts. A perfect four. Last fall I left my power chord on the mainland. No worries I called BTS and they told me they had the cord for my model. I skipped a trip to pickup the cord and picked up a new one at BTS (I figured I could have used it as an extra). Unfortunately, it wasn't the right cord (despite 2 different staff members say it was). I had to make an extra trip and pay more than I planned to get a cord, a trip I wouldn't have needed if the staff had have given me the right cord. I went back recently because I had a broken key on my keyboard and I really wanted to support a local business. HUGE MISTAKE. I stressed that I needed the keyboard for work and that time was of the essence. I should have know something was up when they seemed not to want to order the keyboard and tried to sell me a USB keyboard instead. I asked how much a new keyboard would cost and the staff guy said "X to install it and Y for the part." I ordered on a Thursday and called Tuesday to see if it was in. The staff guy treated me like a bother and told me that he would have to check and call me back. NO CALL BACK. I called the next morning because it's impossible to write briefs without the R key. That staff guy said it wasn't his responsibility but he would have the parts guy call me back. NO CALL BACK. A few hours later I called again, the owner picked up and apologized for the lack of returned calls and said he would call back when the delivery came. NO CALL BACK. I called back a few hours later (while trying to write without using words with R in them). The delivery guy was busy-could he call be back. And he DID. After I recovered from my shock, I asked if I dropped the keyboard of then if I could get it back by closing time (about 1.5 hours). Phone guy said yes. I drop my computer (also my cookbook, radio and entertainment system) off. I confirm that it would be repaired by closing time. Front desk guy says "maybe." When I picked the computer up (the one thing that they followed through on), the final price was almost 50% more than estimated. When I asked about the difference, the clerk said he basically pulled the number out of his head. He offered to make it right by removing the new keyboard and putting back my broken one. No apology for the service, the dropped calls or the bad estimate. If I have to swim off the island, I will never take my computer there again. read more

I had called to schedule a time sensitive appointment. I was confirmed for Friday afternoon. I was asked to leave a voice mail and send an email, both of which I did. When I arrived there was a sign that said 'appointment only' which I had confirmed. I called as there was no longer walk in traffic to have someone come open the door. Not only did no one call or open the door, I never heard from them again. I called on Monday one more time to give them benefit of doubt, but no call back still and I still have a broken computer. We are truly lucky to have a company like this. These guys know what they are doing. They are very professional. I spilled my coffee with cream on my laptop... the left side of the key board failed. I called Bainbridge Tech Solutions, they ordered a replacement key board and when it came in they called me. I went to the shop the next day after work and even though they had other things to do, they took my laptop and fixed it while I waited... I hope these guys stay around for a long time. Their customer service is out standing, their knowledge is way above par and they have other items that we all need, printer ink and other accessories... The best and most friendly service you will find on Bainbridge. Oh and they have moved to the Harbor square site now, opposite the ferry.

My Mac Pro suddenly became ill. Being a software engineer, I was able to diagnose the issue down to a couple of potential hardware issues. Since Bainbridge Technology Solutions was close by I thought I would give them a shot at fixing my precious system. Sadly, I discovered that it would be a "about a week" before they would be able to look at the machine, but for a moderate fee of $25 it could be rushed. Since I hate the idea of "rush fees" I agreed to wait the week for the diagnosis. A week came and went and no word from Bainbridge Tech. I decided to drop in and find out when I could expect my machine to be looked at. The kid at the counter said if would be either later that day (Saturday) or Monday. No word Saturday or Monday. Finally, on Tuesday I got a call asking for the account and password so they could look at the machine, which I reluctantly gave to them. Later that week, I got a call from a different tech asking which drive the OS was on (I have four drives), but received no other status. Then around Friday I finally got the diagnosis that the logic board was toast and it would need to be replaced and that they had ordered one, due in the following week. The following week I got a call that the machine was ready for pick-up. I picked the machine up, brought it home and plugged it in. Only 2 of my 4 monitors flared to life. I swamped some cables around and tried restarting the machine but nothing seemed to work. After launching the hardware overview I quickly discovered that one of my video cards was not being recognized. I shut down the machine, opened it up and found that someone had not plugged the second power cable into the second video card. Once I did, everything worked. So, to summarize my experience with Bainbridge Tech, here are my Pros and Cons: Pros: - Local shop with friendly staff. - They seem to want your business. - They did good research to find me a new logic board. Cons: - Wait times are ridiculous!! - Staff seems pretty uncoordinated. One person does one thing and passes it off. - Somewhat pricey service. - Sloppy QC. My machine should not have left with the 2nd video card unplugged. I'm not sure if I'll return to the shop. Generally, I can do most of my own work but it would be nice to know there is a competent Tech shop nearby just in case. Right now, I'm just not certain Bainbridge Tech inspires me with confidence. read more
