I have a bit of a sensitive stomach when I have sweets, so I was expected to have a bit of a stomach ache after eating it- and I didn't. I'm so glad we came because the tour we took was absolutely incredibly!!!! **THIS PLACE IS A MUST-VISIT VERMONT ATTRACTION!** It's so clean, have affordable prices for their organic maple syrup, and truly the friendliest staff you'll ever meet. Jacob, our tour guide really made the experience exceptional. He answered all our questions, gave a fantastic tour, and kept us entertained the entire time. They have good varieties of maple syrup to choose from (amber, dark amber, etc...) and also ketchup, mustards, bbq sauce.. and the best part, they have recipe/cocktail cards available to let you know how to incorporate their syrup. He offered a really insightful explanation of the different stages of maple syrup production, from tapping and storage to evaporation. I appreciate the way Jacob was able to move from a detailed discussion of the science of reverse osmosis to big picture issues climate change. We learned that maple syrup farmers in Vermont face multiple challenges related to warmer average temperatures and increasing regulation, as well as opportunities to adopt new technologies, develop new value-added products, and cultivate unique brands. We visited Baird Farms two years ago when looking for Vermont themed wedding favors. There my (now) wife and I discovered a maple syrup tasting bar! The idea that it is okay to drink maple syrup straight has changed my life. The bar was a great chance to directly compare different maple syrup flavors and find a favorite (Dark Robust). The maple, sriracha, verde hot sauce has revolutionized taco night. Mint infused maple syrup is a favorite addition to hot chocolate. The farm is a great combination of traditional flavors and new ideas that are super tasty. Jenna and Jacob were super helpful and knowledgeable. My daughter and I visited them in May right before a storm came through. We've been ordering our maple syrup from Baird Farms since our visit there in the fall of 2000. At that time Robert gave us a tour and we visited with Bonnie. It was very cold that day and they invited us into their home to warm up. We order every year and truly feel it's the best maple syrup we have ever had. I have been using Baird Farm's Maple syrup for many years now, and it is by far the best I've tasted it. My grandparents first introduced me years ago and I haven't stopped eating it since! I now live in the south but still order this syrup for myself and others. I've given it as Birthday and Graduation gifts (among other celebrations as well). I recently tried the maple sriracha and now use it every morning with my eggs! I even take their syrup with me when I travel if I know pancakes or waffles will be available. The Baird farm staff are extremely nice, honest, and caring people. I've never had the opportunity of touring the farm itself, but I have exchanged communications with Jenna and Jacob and they could not have been any nicer (and visiting the farm is absolutely on my list of places I want to go)! read more
