My friend and I were interested in trying out Baita after seeing the individual greenhouses that they provided. After trying out the restaurant though it seems its main pros were mostly only the greenhouses themselves. My friend and I came on a Thursday night at 8:30 PM. We walked up to the front podium to check in and were instead told to walk around to the back entrance. It would have been nice if someone could have taken us and shown us where to go because when we got there we weren't really sure where to check in and the group who followed us to the back also seemed a little confused. So there was a bit of time spent just wondering around. Afterwards, we were taken to our greenhouse. The greenhouse itself was very nice and spacious especially for just two people. There was also a small heating lamp and cord to plug into your music. However, the area around the greenhouse was dark and not decorated at all (unlike the other side of greenhouses that had the cute decorations and twinkling lights) Our server came right away and was very efficient and friendly in giving us recommendations and getting us our orders throughout the meal. We were first given a couple slices of complimentary bread in a small bag. The bread itself was meh. It was cold and flavorless. Afterwards we decided to order and share a few unimpressive items: --BEEF TARTARE: My friend loves beef tartare which is the reason why we ordered it. It was very bland, all you can taste is the olive oil. Pretty plain and boring unfortunately --RACLETTE: A small slice of cheese sitting on top of tea tea lights. The cheese itself was good but would have been nice if it was melted a bit more before being put onto our plate. The sides of meat and potatoes it came with were good albeit slightly too salty. The veggie it came with was also just ok. --WILD BOAR RAGU: The item we closed out our meal with that truly made this a disappointing night. The ragu was way too salty (honestly it just tasted like I was eating salt) and it was mixed in with salted pasta which was just not a good combination. The server was kind enough to bring a "remade" bowl but it was honestly just as salty as the first. Additionally, the boar meat itself was pretty dry. Definitely skip this dish. An Italian alpine experience in the middle of NYC! My husband surprised me with this place for a celebration and the atmosphere was so cozy and cute. You check in inside Eataly store and they bring you outside to little secluded pods/greenhouses. You have the option of playing your own music through a bluetooth speaker that they provide you. Definitely recommend doing this otherwise you'd be sitting there in a bubble with NYC traffic as your music. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered an antipasti, pasta, and pizza to share. We could tell that the pasta was freshly made from the texture. The pizza was so savory and yummy. I personally thought the raclette wasn't worth the price but if you want a cool, instagrammable cheese pull then go for it. This amount of food was more than enough for the two of us. We went during the daytime since it was the only spot available but I think it would've been a better experience at night with the fairy lights. It's a little hard to flag down a waiter since they're all outside but when they did come around, they were very friendly. Superb experience! I was greeted by Julia the maitre d. Was seated in a cozy plastic outdoor hut. It was heated and very warm. You can play your own music through their speakers. My waiter Johnny was friendly and attentive. He brought out complementary bread with olive oil while I look through the menu. Cozy and warm! The ability to create and environment to make you feel cozy and warm is the highlight of going to eat at Baita. This clear green houses come with a speaker so you can put your own music and a heater provide by a solar panel! The drinks are different and warm! The warm drinks comes up in a tea cup! If you want something different order the old fashioned is strong, tasty and warm! We order their most popular item veggies with melted cheese, additional we had the raviolis and the pasta with mushrooms. Everything was great! The service is good, attentive and fast! Came here with a friend we were starving for Italian food. They have limited outdoor cubes that you can reserve. Luckily there was one available for an hour so we grabbed it! OK'ish in total - Service was great and staff was super friendly. The little houses are big enough for different sizes of groups. We had one for four. The booth is equipped with blankets, heater and a Bluetooth speaker. There is also a little window in the roof, which can be opened. The staff was wearing a mask all the time and we putted our mask also back up when someone was coming into the little house. The food is covered cause it will be transported through the shop and will released right in front of your house. We had Polenta and a Pizza. My wife, newborn daughter and I came here for lunch on a Wednesday and we were seated right away. Here's why we give it 5 stars: 1) Service: We were greeted right away and were offered our choice of still, sparkling or tap water. Warm bread was brought over with olive oil for dipping. Baita is located on the 14th floor of the building where Eataly's Flatiron location is located. It has an Alps ski lodge environment. The space is an enclosed rooftop (a retractable roof) with lots of wooden fixtures and furry and fluffy covers. We ordered the polenta as appetizer (not dessert-a typo on the previous review!), it's a Northern Italian cornmeal dish. We ordered the polenta with sausage but when it arrived, it was a chunky load of polenta instead (not sure if they gave us the wrong one). Nonetheless, the polenta was flavorful. For entree, we ordered pasta, chicken thigh and pork shoulder. The dishes tasted good; however, they were soaked in olive oil. I think they could hold off on topping each dish with too much olive oil. I agree with other reviewers that it would be great if they expand their pasta menu, given that they sell good pasta downstairs. My party and I really enjoy the environment, it's such a cool place to spend your evening at during a cold winter night. For a couple hundred dollars, you could order from a prix fixe menu for your big party of 10 or more in a little wooden cabin. This may not be a bad idea if you want even more privacy and intimacy. Overall, I love the environment, and everyone working here is polite and the servers are attentive. However, I do not like the amount of olive oil they put in their dishes and the limited pasta menu. Ouch. Yelp has some harsh critics here. I came here with a group last weekend and had a great time. Seems like a lot of the kinks from the first weekend have improved. The place here is gorgeous. They've done an excellent job transforming the space of La Birreria to really look and feel like a ski lodge. Reservations were painless on OpenTable, and we were seated promptly. Place was still pretty busy at 10PM at night. We got our food orders and drink orders in pretty early...but there were some times it was hard to track down the server throughout the night. If you want to eat your fill, the place will definitely cost you some decent coin. I ordered a glass of wine, and got the meat plate as well as three cheeses and paid about $60. However, the real reason to come is for the ambiance. I would gladly come back - especially on colder days or when it's snowing. Would be a fun place to meet up with friends, sip on some mulled wine and sit next to the Christmas tree. A friend of mine, who I use to work with, is studying at CUNY, and one of our friends who we worked with was making a stop in NYC. We had not eaten at Eataly yet, so we decided to meet up here! When you walk in, it's a little chaotic. Luckily, there's a main hostess/info stand in the middle and the friendly gentleman explained the various restaurants inside. We decide on Baita since it was on the rooftop. We did have to go to two different hostess stands, one on the lower level, and then one at the top. The dining area is beautiful! I love the open air feel and the panels warmed the space up nicely. Our server, Jennifer, was so sweet and explained the menu since it was our first time. I had the pork shoulder which was tender and juicy and came with an apple slaw. Liz had the pasta with basil and an arugala sald, Daveed had the delicious veal and Bobby had the chicken. Everything came out in a timely manner and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! I would say that it is a little pricey, but it is something fun to try, and I would definitely come back when my travels bring me back to NYC! read more

We arrived around 1pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. What a great location, upstairs with the sun streaming through the glass window paned roof. We started with drinks at the bar, waiting for our table. Nice bar, but since this place was newly created as its own restaurant and bar 2 days prior to our visit, it was mass chaos. Beer selection is amazing. Not the place to ask for wine, as they were clueless to their newly expanded options and what was available. Took about 30 minutes to get a bottle of wine. The reason for the 3 stars is probably mostly based upon the poor preparation in the changes of this restaurant. Our promised 30 minute wait turned into 70 minutes. By the time we sat down for lunch our bottle of wine was polished off. Food options are more tapas sized...great place for salami, speck and cheeses. Once we ordered, food arrived fairly quickly and was good and fresh. Portions were obviously small. Pasta with mushrooms was good, as was the salad that we ordered. Disappointing again that another bottle of wine that we had wanted to try was unavailable. Overall, great location with a lot of disorganization. Should be much better once they iron out the kinks. This place looks so Instagrammable with all the lights, wood decor, blankets, perched on the 14th floor of Eataly overlooking NYC. It almost looks like you got transported to a chalet in the Alps or in Europe for some drinks and/or food après a ski day. I came here with some friends on New Years Day to have some drinks -- big mistake on my part. Not only was the service really slow - it was hard to order and super hard to get anyone to give us our check, but the drinks were expensive. I got an alcoholic hot chocolate with boozy whipped cream and it was $16 without tip and tax. But then later that night, about 5 hours later, I came down with the worst food poisoning I've ever had. I ended up the next day with my husband calling the ambulance to take me to the ER because I was severely dehydrated and couldn't move and my hands were locked and cramped up in one position, and I couldn't keep anything down. I thought I was going to die. After 2 IV bags later, 8 hours in the ER and an $800 out of pocket bill for the whole experience, I will never set food at this place again. We all ate the same things all day, except for me who had the drink with whipped cream that was probably made with spoiled cream or had been left outside and was rotten. Stay away from this place. I'll go back to Eataly to eat cooked food, but the food safety here at be Baita was awful and cost me 2 whole days in NY and an expensive trip to the ER. read more

I feel like people are being very harsh with their reviews lol. I really enjoyed all of the dishes i got--the crostone w cheese, honey, and truffle oil; the short rib agnolotti; and the wild boar polenta were all very tasty and brought out quickly. The reason for 4/5 stars is that the agnolotti came out lukewarm and i felt that it was left out for a little while. Also, the chocolate, hazelnut, and blueberry dessert we got was very strange and dry. I was so excited to see that Baita was going to have a pop up restaurant when I was visiting NYC and promptly made reservations to try it out. Since the popup was a limited time engagement I made sure to make a reservation which I'm glad I did. We got there right when it opened at 11:30am and it quickly filled up. I loved the ambiance and would come back for that alone. It made you feel like you were in a winter wonderland. I'm sure when NYC gets snow and it covers the top of the glass rooftop it will make it feel even more wintery and cozy. Our waitress was very friendly and provided us with good service. We never had to wait long for our food or drinks and kept the meal moving along without a wait. We decided to try two cocktails; my mom got the Yule Tide cocktail which is a milky almond and vodka based cocktail while I had the mulled wine. The mulled wine was one of the best I have ever had and was very happy I chose this beverage. You should probably try one too. While we waited on our meal they brought off bread with olive oil-my favorite! For our meal we decided to split the raceltte. This was melted cheese served with potatoes and arugula and a slice of bread. It was heaven! The cheese was full flavored and wasn't too strong. It paired very nicely with the potatoes. I'm glad we did split this because it was a very heavy meal for just lunch. The meal was great; the drinks were very pricy but since it was NYC I was expecting this. Don't waste your time because they will waste yours. I came here with a group of 6 for dinner. They were very accommodating and the drinks we got at the bar were great. But that was about it. We ordered our entrees and 3 of us were served within about 20 minutes. It took over 40 minutes for the other half to be served. Not to mention one of the missing dishes was the exact same as one we received. We asked the waiter multiple times when the food was coming out because we wanted to wait for everyone before we ate. Every time he responded, "It'll be right out." It turns out that they have two kitchens and there was a lot of miscommunication. Finally, they bring out the rest of the food and had two additional orders of food we didn't even order. What did the waiter even put into the system?? By the time all the food was served, we kindly asked the waiter to heat up the first couple of dishes because they were all good. Who eats cold polenta?! He responds, "Um let me ask my manager." Are you serious??? Not apologetic or anything. After the manager heated it up, he brought the food back and the portions shrunk in half... was the microwave also starving? The only thing saving this place from one star was the discount the manager gave us for our troubles. No one seemed apologetic, but rather confused at why we were upset. I wanted to love this place, but I just couldn't. In my opinion, this pop up restaurant is overpriced, unseasoned, tiny portioned, and extremely underwhelming. I would give this place an overall 2.5 including aesthetic, service, and taste/quality of food. To start with the positive, this restaurant is located in the heart of Flatiron and has a very cute and warming ski lodge resort feel. It's a nice place to be in for the holiday season. I would say go midday/afternoon, not when it's too dark so that you can actually appreciate the views of the skyscrapers. Unfortunately, I thought it was a bit strange that we could not order appetizers first. We couldn't get served the bread until after we ordered. I'm not entirely sure why this is the policy. When we got our bread, it was cold. For our appetizer we got the Sciatt (which is the fried cheeseballs). They were pretty good, but not $11 worth. Our cheeseballs looked like a fried unstructured mess. Not very ball-like. As for our entrees, my one friend got the Gnocchi Di Zuccha which was $23 for the smallest, plainest plate of gnocchi I did ever see. I had the Patate Bollite and honestly, I'm truly disappointed in the taste of it. The raclette cheese was pretty good, but the arugula salad was just pure arugula. The potatoes were tiny and tasted like they only had salt and nothing else. It felt like a $6 meal turned into $11. The best part of the whole night was probably the Cavoletti Bruxelles, which were the crispy fried brussel sprouts. Very flavorful. Highly recommend. But I don't think it's worth it to go to an overpriced restaurant to get brussel sprouts. Go for the views, not for the food. read more

I've had this place on my "list" for years and finally got there last Saturday. Bad on me but I really thought the rooftop would have been more open, it was not open at all and it had barely an outside view. FYI. It was ok but not great. The wine was expensive but good we had a Gavi or friulli I can't remember which. Food is small here and we had pesto fusilli the only pasta on the menu, lamb skewers, beef skewers, fried artichokes, and a bread basket. The artichokes were absolutely the best part but a super small portion for more than 2 to share. The pesto was our number two - the rest was not memorable at all. Service was ok. Not very interested in us brought the food then we didn't see our waiter for a while and then we were ready to get out of there. Spendy small portions and just ok. I love Baita's concept of a seasonal themed restaurant - I went this past February for Valentine's Day and it was featuring an Italian ski lodge feel in the Alps. Beautiful lighting dangling above, cute pop-up lodge for private dining and overall romantic ambiance to say the least. Our service was exceptional - our waitress took the time to answer our questions and explained some of the dishes' ingredients to us. I didn't think I would be full since plates were shallow and food came in smaller portions (this was a set menu). They proved me wrong - I was uncomfortably full by the last dish. I should also mention that we strayed off the set menu that night and also ordered the beer cheese. BEER. CHEESE. Everything one could love all in one bite. It was so good!! This place is gorgeous. Being on the rooftop of Eataly surrounded by beautiful makes for quite the scenery. Too bad the food didn't match the view.  If you shop at Eataly, then this is the place for you. Imagine imported wines and cheeses along with dried meats and pastas. Otherwise, you might find this place overpriced and underwhelming like I did. The food itself wasn't memorable but the scenery definitely was. It's like the rest of Eataly where you spend a lot to get a little. I would go back just to have a drink on the rooftop though.  Maybe your place smells like rich mahogany and people know you. This place is great if you have friends visiting and want to show them the "New York Experience" but if you're looking for good food and great prices, head elsewhere! I guess my expectations were sort of high since it's located in Eataly but....the food said otherwise. COST: OVERPRICED! I dont know why people gave this $$, I definitely felt that it was on the verge of $$$. The food portions were not worth the price. The drinks were also overpriced and overall, just not worth the money. ATMOSPHERE: love love love! It's beautiful in the daytime with the sun shining in and they occasionally open up the rooftop when the weather is nice. You can either sit down and dine or head over to the bar for drinks and snacks. The atmosphere was beautiful, with cute italian inspired decor hanging from the ceiling and cute cabin-like theme. Three weeks into the month, the rooftop at Eataly was still sporting the winter theme with the corresponding menu. The dishes predominantly are on the lighter bites / smaller portions side. The establishment is more suited for occasions when you want to dine atop a rooftop and have a different type of scenery... With good quality ingredients but weak execution, almost bland foods. The staff for the most part was attentive and prompt in addressing any of our requests - for utensils, water, bread, olive oil and other seasonings/condiments. This could have been so good. The service, I will say, was a bright spot. I sat at a table in the bar, and the server was fun and attentive. The food should have been fantastic. Between the pedigree of Baita (and Eataly), the ingredients (fresh pasta, truffles) and the prices (save your pennies kids) - I expected to have a top meal. To be frank, it had little to no flavor, the pasta was a bit overcooked (really?!?), and had the deadly combination of coming slowly and being luke-warm when served. Speaking of coming slowly - who's bright idea was it to put uncomfortable metal-topped stools and chairs in the bar and restaurant? If you want to maximize your table turns, bring the food more quickly. Sorry kids - there are too many amazing places in NYC to waste an expensive meal here. read more

Three stars feels appropriate for Birreria's winter pop-up, Baita. They capitalize on the season with an array of raclette and polenta, hot spiked cocktails, etc. I went with my husband and a friend on a Saturday and we shared a handful of plates. Portions are very tiny and pricey considering the size. I did love the speck salt-rimmed Bloody Mary, but the cocktail was so full that it would arrive each time with more than half of the rim sloshed off. Beat! Also, we had a reservation but the place was so busy that runners were hovering for plates in order to quickly move us along. As a pre-Christmas gift for me and my hubby we spent the weekend in Brooklyn and had made time to spend in Manhattan as well. With reservations set we loved our evening from the moment we walked through Eataly, took the elevator and walked out into the Baita! It was a beautiful setting and atmosphere but very crowded! Thank goodness for our reservations. It was wall to wall people at the bar but we were able to get a glass of prosecco as we waited for our table. After being seated the waiter was perfection in his timing throughout the meal. He came with menus and allowed us to look it over - then came at the right time to ask if we had any questions (which we did). He was very well versed in the menu and we went with his recommendations after he chatted with us. He then kept on top of our water, drink order and checking in throughout the meal but never feeling like he was interrupting us. A superior waiter. So here was our order: Starters: A large bread basket was brought with olive oil and it there was several different types of breads and enough that we could both sample several of them. SCIATT - Beer Battered & Fried Piave Cheese (In the Valtellina dialect, sciatt literally means "toad." Happily, here it refers to crispy beer battered cheese. SPECK - Made from smoked, dry-cured pork legs, speck comes to us from northern Italy. Recla, Alto-Adige Entrees: From the Polenta Bar: SMACAFAM - baked wild hive polenta with sweet Italian sausage, onion, roasted maitake mushrooms and fontina cheese. TORTIGLIONI ALLA NORCINA - Tortiglioni with Roasted Sausage, Hudson Valley Cream, Black Truffle Butter & Burgundy Truffles Having eaten and cooked many Italian meals this by far was the most amazing polenta and pasta with truffle butter that we have ever eaten. I've been at 399 reviews for a couple of weeks now and knew that my 400th review needed to be someplace impressive. I was in the City for the weekend and knew that Eataly would offer a variety of choices that would satisfy everyone in my group. Sure enough, we looked at the menu for Baita at La Birreria and hopped right on the elevator. The bar was PACKED and it was hard to find a place to order, but we caught the bartender's eye and were served pretty quickly. The beers vary from the better side of standard to good choices, although the prices are a little high ($7 for a Dogfish Pumpkin out of season). After grabbing our beers and meeting up with the rest of our group, we were quickly seated at our table (Note: all of the other restaurants had a good 30-45 minute wait but we had no wait here). We got tap water and ordered a bottle of the Rosa D'Alta Murcia ($39) to split as well. They presented us with a basket of bread and olive oil. I was so impressed because there was enough bread for everyone to have a few slices. Perfection! The food menu, like the beer list, isn't huge but offers a good variety. Somehow, 3 of the people in my group of 4 ordered the strangolapreti con burro e salvia ($18 - housemade bread & spinach dumplings with butter and sage). The 4th member of our group had the Tagliata steak ($32), which looked fantastic. I'd love to find the recipe for the strangolapreti because it was so smooth and flavorful. We finished our dinner and weren't rushed off, which I thought was a nice touch. Usually they're so antsy to flip tables that you feel like you're being pushed out but this was not the case at all, even after we declined dessert. We didn't have reservations but they took our phone number and said they'd text us in 30 mins when a table opened up. Thankfully, it actually turned out to be only 10 mins! Amazing decor! It felt like we were in the Swiss Alps and with the Christmas holiday season, it was even more gorgeous. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the decor in here. It was so pretty. A pure delight to the eyes. The beer selection is great and every beer I had was amazing. For an appetizer, we got the Sciatt, beer battered and fried piave cheese ($8). It was really deliciously naughty. Be careful, they come out HOT. Also, the cheese is super salty. For my main course, I had the Strangolapreti con burro e salvia ($16), which is housemade bread and spinach dumplings with butter and sage. The word supposedly means "priest strangers" as priests enjoyed this dish so much that they would eat it until they choked. And I completely agree! I would like to bath in a pool of this pasta with my jaw unhinged. The dumplings were soft balls of pure delight in an amazingly decadent sauce. I would eat this every night if I could. We also had amazing service. Our waitress was super friendly, super helpful, and just so much fun to talk to. I definitely really liked her. She also knew her beers, which is always a perk. It is a little pricey but what can you expect? Also, the bathrooms are a little out of the way (back down the stairs you go) but at least they're clean and roomy, which is rare in NYC. I read all the previous Yelp reviews and i was concerned about having dinner here. We had a reservation for 9pm but still had to wait 20 minutes. The hostess was VERY nice, apologized and kept us updated as to the status of our table. I also seen many others come to the hostess and indicate that they had a reservation but unfortunately their tables were not available as well. The atmosphere at Baita is amazing. It has such an intimate and inviting atmosphere. Maybe its the Christmas Tree or the lights or the smell of pine, but I love it! I must warn you that it can get crowded in the evenings and it can be a little loud, but that is expected for any popular place in the city. While I was waiting to be seated, i started to look at the menu and asked for recommendations from the hostess. They indicated that the Veal or Cod are amazing. When i got seated I quickly placed our orders. Our server quickly brought bread and olive oil and explained the origin of the olive oil (I thought that was nice). We ordered the pickled vegetables as an appraiser and it came out in 5-8 minutes. Our main courses came about 15 minutes later. I ordered the Veal for my main course and it was good! It was lightly breaded and tasted very good. I had a piece of the cod and that was VERY GOOD! I would highly recommend the Cod and the Veal! I would rate Baita at La Birreria as follows: Service is 3.5 Stars (Includes Wait Time), Atmosphere is 5 Stars, Food is 4 Stars and the Price is 3.5 Star. Baita is located at the rooftop of the Eataly restaurant. You have to walk all the way to the back and take an elevator up to the 14th floor. The ambiance is warm and charming and they have throws on each chair to wrap yourself up in for the cold NYC winter months. The best part about the place is the ambiance, after that everything else is eh. Service is slow and our dishes didn't come out as we ordered; had to remind the waitress. The food is mediocre at best. As an Italian themed restaurant they only have 2 pastas to chose from, one of which is drowned in vinegar! If you come here, come here for the experience not the food. read more

As we were searching Eataly, trying to decide on which restaurant to try, this place immediately jumped out. A rooftop bar with an Alps pop-up? YES! The ambiance is really great. The is a little chalet that they seat large parties in, I had to climb over a pile of wood to get to my seat, and there are little poms poms strung from the ceiling. I immediately fell in love. We were excited to try some cocktails, but they were pricey and honestly none of them sounded all that great, which was disappointing. So we decided to just get a few dishes for the table. The food was is just meh. We tried the Smacafam polenta, which was not what we were expecting. It arrived in slices and was a bit on the dry side. We tried the Patate Bollite Raclette and the flavor just wasn't there. The raclette was better on bread and even spread on our chicken. We also had a serving of the Pasta Al Forno Alle Verdure which was basically spinach lasagna. It looked perfect, the layers were completely uniform, but wasn't the most flavorful. There was no sauce the whole thing was rather bland. We ended our culinary journey with the Pollo Con Spinaci e Mela. This was a home run! The chicken thighs were incredibly moist and flavorful. They paired perfectly with the spinach, apples, and shallots. It was as if this dish came from a different restaurant. The chicken saved the day for sure! The atmosphere and the chicken saved this place for me, but I wouldn't rush back by any means. read more

Two stars for the food but five stars for the atmosphere and an extra bonus star for their Bloody Mary. The food was meh and overpriced with small portions (the Raclette is literally one sliver of cheese). But the drinks were great - though also overpriced - and the atmosphere is literally overflowing with twinkle lights and holiday charm. Ultimately I'm glad I went. And if you go, get the Bloody Mary (or "Bloody Margarita"). It comes with a speck and burrata garnish and is amazing. read more

Love this place! I've been there several times and tried many things on the menu- it's all perfect. The staff and service are great. The little houses are so much fun - heater, Bluetooth speaker and plenty of room. Amazing wine list! Highly HIGHLY recommend!! read more

Poor service. Unfortunately I viewed a waiter place customers at a table where one wouldn't be able open their eyes because of the sun. He placed customers there over and over even when every single customer that ended up there requested to be moved. Clearly there were a lot of seats available and if over 4 groups request to be moved, why would you place the next customer there? Now the food was okay. It wasn't spectacular. The wine selection was great but beer selection was poor. I'd say if the weather is too hot, don't come here. This spot is great when the weather is perfect or it's late enough at night when it's cool during the summer. read more
